Think most guys I know prefer smooth down below, with a bit of hair above, neatly trimmed.
Nothing worse than going down on a girl and getting hairs stuck in yer teeth!

Get one of those lady trimmer thingies and at least trim it back. Not fully shaved but not a wilderness either.

A word of advice, be very careful with Veet and other similar products. Do not put them anywhere near your more delicate bits. You can get special stuff for bikini lines but even that will *spread* a little when you put it on and, if any of it gets near the vaginal lips, will cause a huge amount of discomfort.

Shaving does the jobs but usually goes a little bumpy and can be itchy when growing back.

Your best bet is a wax from a professional beautician. Don't worry about having to be totally hair-free and this is hard to maintain and not every woman feels comfortable about it. A good waxer will give you a tidy but natural appearance.

    +2.

Depends if its a wilderness or not?;)

Some girls wouldn't have a serious issue with it. The odd hair in the mouth shouldn't be an issue for a girl or a fella! Thats more of an issue than should I shave or not. ;)

Jaysus, chill out and enjoy it.

I don't recommend shaving or veet. Waxing is the best way to go. But you never know, he may like being a jungle explorer :)

I had an experience with a girl before.. at least i think it was a girl who was very hairy.
She had a hairy ass crack leading all the way round to her pubic area... quite disturbing.

Keep it nice and smooth down below and the upper part trimmed down.

As I've heard many men say - no one wants to go down on chewbacca! I'd say at least trim it - maybe go for a brazillian. Personally, I feel hair free in more hygenic - but upkeep is a pain!

If he thinks you're disgusting and hairy then he's not a man.
    End of.

My guy doesn't care if I shave it or not.

It's great, coz he loves me that's all that matters.

Why don't you ask him what he likes?

And word to the wise, a friend of mine went for a professional wax and they ended up tearing her skin and she was covered in blisters all over for quite a few days, hurt her to sit down and all she couldn't have sex either!

So how many guys here would prefer a scabby "ladygarden" to a furry one?

Consider the maintenace of any solution you adopt.

Trimming,IMO, with a beard trimmer type mowing bar gives u the option of starting out with a light trim and taking it from there.

I was hairless down below due to chemo and my husband loved it, however I have not decided to go back to it, much to his chagrine. If there was a painless way of doing it I would, just like sometimes I would prefer him hairless but there are some days when I love having his hairy big monster!

All off please. Its more hygenic for a start. And there is nothing worse then pulling down your ladys thong with your teeth and being confronted with the amazon rainforest.

    Hi Op

Do what ever feels comfortable for you but do be aware that if you shave/wax it all off, the grow back can be very uncomfortable as it will be itchy, personally I would advise that you trim it to start and see how that goes and maybe try a bikini wax to get some idea of the pain level. I strongly advise you not to use creams such as Veet as the skin is very delicate around your ladygarden (nice word).

It is not more hygenic, it may seem that way but pubic hair around a woman's vagina protects it from infection, also the hair around the anus (aka crack area) stops any germs from the anus going near the vagina. What is hygenic is keeping the area clean, not ripping all the hair off, it leaves it very vulnerable.

Finally Op, just to add less hair can be pleasing to your lover's eye, and it may increase sensitivity to you as well, but do be careful that you may be open to more bugs entering there too.

I don't like women to be hairier than me, not that I'm particularly hairy, other than that I have no issue whatsoever. I find this current fixation with women being hairless a bit weird. Women are not generally hairless and never have been so I hope this fad passes, although let’s not go back to the 70’s :) You’d have to blame modern porn and magazines. Go to the continent and women have hair where they naturally should have and it’s not an issue. Do what you’re comfortable with and don’t be brainwashed by what Cosmo is currently saying.

**** that, i love pubes down there, lady gardens well and the hidden treasure inside are the greatest things on planet earth to me, and anyone on who prefers a mouthfull of stubbly plastic prepubescentness must have read too many braindeath magazines, wwell i suppose its all a matter of perception anyways. whichever shaved or not it'll be heaven.

The landing strip seems to be common these days. Not sure if its hygienic for women but it works ie. no hair in teeth

Indeed, and we shouldn't use deodorant either because if BO was bad we'd produce our own. As for men shaving or trimming down there, many do and are actively asked to do, it really depends upon what their partner prefers and that she expresses that preference.

Nonetheless, to simply suggest that men should do exactly the same thing because their partner does it does actually come across as infantile tit-for-tat. After all, if a guy wants his girlfriend to wear suspenders in bed, should he do the same? Perhaps (let me just throw this crazy notion out there) he should so something that works for her instead?

Pretty much agree with that. I am trimmed/ shaved and i like trimmed/shaved essentially for both the same reasons. Prickly hairs on my nose distract me and the partner

That said, both completely shaved can introduce a totally different set of sensations.

So, in conclusion OP this thread has revealed that every man has a different preference. There's no way to guarantee that what you do is what he "prefers".

Rest assured though that most (if not all) men will just be happy to be that intimate with you.

If you're really worried about it, then you can't go wrong with a bit of a trim - just tidied up, not shaped or shaved or waxed. If you are going to wax to remove any excess, then remember that you will probably come up in little bumps immediately afterwards (as well as being tender), so wax about a week beforehand to give the irritation time to subside.

Later on then you can ask him what he prefers. Maybe model a few style for him every couple of weeks :)

If you expect or would like any sort of oral, tidy yourself! If you're only having sex with your boyfriend now, chances are he's probably not in love with you and only love will drive a man to putting his mouth around something hairy.

As for GetReal2007, you aren't a treehugger by any chance are you?

    My two cents!

yes, get your 'ladygarden' landscaped so to speak....

less is more, plus its more hygenic...

veet and shaving grow back fairly quickly, i prefer waxed landscaping, and most of the blokes i know are the same

    Hi Op,

My thoughts are that you should go along with whatever you feel comfortable with and what you can afford. My thoughts on the different methods:

Shaving: inexpensive but very, very itchy and grows back very quickly.

Veet: Putting something that melts hair that close to an area so delicate just doesn't seem like a good idea to me

Waxing: A Brazillians (aka a landing strip), as some are suggesting here, can cost up to e50 in a salon and will need to be redone every 4-6weeks.
A Hollywood (completely bare) will cost up to e55.
If this would be too expensive (as it would be for a lot of people) then concider getting a tidying of the area instead which is cheaper. Do not go to a salon that uses strip wax on this area. The fashion and appearance forum has had a few threads on this topic. Here is a link to a google search of that forum (I'm not sure how helpful this will be for you) http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q=site%3Awww.boards.ie+fashion+and+appearance+brazilian&btnG=Search&meta=

All the above methods come with the risk of ingrown hairs. These are not a nice and can be very annoying. Whatever you choose to do remember to exfoliate the area to remove any dead skin to help prevent ingrown hairs.

If you're in the Dublin area then I can recommend www.brazilia.ie if you choose to wax. The girls are very professional and very good.

    A.

Of course you copuld always get your bf to shave you and then do it to him .... now THAT is nice

my advice would be to have a little trim, Dont gop waxing or anything coz then he might expect you to always be waxed. ! Go the way you are, let him hump the life out of ya and then, you can ask him later if he would like you go bald or whatever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,605 ✭✭✭Fizman

Defo the less hair the better! I slept with a girl recently and to put it mildly (quoting another boardster), she "had a growler like a burst mattress"!
I physically couldn't have performed the act properly!!

OP, I'm female, and I wax the whole lot off. It feels much more sensual both for me and my partner. It is also more hygenic, no matter what anyone says. It feels so much fresher and more pleasant in every way. If you get it done at a reputable salon where they are used to doing this kind of thing, you should have no problems. Once you've had it all off, you will never want to go back to being hairy again. I say go for it! Don't shave or use veet though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,577 ✭✭✭StormWarrior

btw once you've had it done professionally a few times, you can from then on do it yourself with "salon systems hard wax discs" so it will be very cheap.

The hair is there for a reason as other posters have said.

It traps the scents and acts as a " turn on" for the male.

The trend towards removal is dictated by swimwear styles ,and in my opinion

    mistaken belief that its sexier.

Personally I'd much prefef to drop on something like Dickie Rocks wig than

something bald as a baby's arse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭matt-dublin

    Flutterin...

it also traps sweat, which doesn't dry properly and goes stale. Hence where the fish smell comes from, and also premotes an unhygenic feel, along with the 70s Porn look.

Bald around the area, especially near the vulva and clit, provides a much more sentious feeling during oral and penetrative sex, makeing it easier to find the clit in general, along with a sweeter smell and taste!

Back to the 70's for you my friend!

Hmmm from the posts so far i'd disagree - seemingly most of us guys prefer the shaved look.
I'd say keep it trimmed down a lot - easy maintenance and after you get used to it you can then decide on where you want to go/how much effort you want to spend.

It doesn't prevent infection. its only there due to hormone levels in the body
    (link possibly NSFW)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgenic_hair

Orniginally hair was for insulation, but with the ever rising temperatures in on the planet, and natural evolution, we don't need it anymore. Hence why we're not as hairy as prehistoric homosapiens.

Plus, it traps bodily fluids, excretion etc, and if not cleaned properly can lead to infections of all sorts.
