    Hi Martin,

Congrats to you and your fiancee on getting in. Gotta say I'm jealous.

Thanks for the above explanation. It's better than I've been able to come up with myself. Still, not too keen on people saying that "something aint right with" me (Cheers for that Goodcopbadcop).

Going for campaign 14 now myself. IST in late April and after that.... who knows? Que sera, sera.

When i said something aint right with our friend carlty888 I meant something as in, the Psni have made a mistake somewhere or you have been really unlucky for some reason. wasnt at all saying theres something wrong with you personally.

Hey! I got like one mark higher than you in the assessment centre (55) and after months of humming and haaing about it i finally rang recruitment. The person i spoke to was very nice and happy to help. I was informed of my merit number - which is between 200 - 210, April intake is full and the next one is May - was also told they will be recruiting up until Oct/Nov.

So you finally called! Well done! you must be happy with that number. Well thats you defo getting a new job:D:D:D

Have heard from officers recently passed out that there is a certain disipline aspect to the training but nothing as intense as you would find in the military.

i would agree with jim on this one,
its gonna be intense but forget about full metal jacket stuff, it aint gonna be like that!!
alot of military training is to get you used to following orders in stressfull situations,
in my opinion police training is to get you thinking for yourself so it wont be as intense as military(hopefully)..
well thats my 2 cents anyway,
    could be wrong though!!!!!!!;):D

Thank god someone else thinks that the training sounds a bit armyish, thought it was just me!!! Will be brilliant tho and good luck to all those starting on 20th.

    Keep all us C14 ( & C13 ) hopefuls posted wont ya??:D

Yeah, if you read a few pages you will find a few posts on it. Martin was saying they are doing medicals for 440,those who have a place plus they are doing some extra just in case some of the 440 pull out etc. So yes some of the people who get medicals will not be offered a place but sounds like a small amount, i hope.

Hi all, i'm new to the forum well not really i've been reading this thread for almost 6months now, just never got round to posting:o, all my questions were answered so i never had to post:), but i've finally got off my lazy arse and decided to post.

I'm from a R/c background, had an A/c of 43, sent off my vetting early jan but still waiting on my call for the medical (if it ever comes that is....? )

I'm from a military background and i just thought i'd put you all at ease in terms of the training involved, from what i here its going to be along the lines of army basic training, but dont fear as its not as hard as you think, that is unless you have an attitude problem....!

For those worried about the IST i would say just relax and dont worry!! I've found it taxing but do-able. I've done it a few times now and completed it every time and passed it every time so dont worry.

    Hello all.

I'm new to this forum as i have recently been interrested in joining the PSNI.

I need some advice and quick
    Heres the story.

    Im 18.
In college studying computing course which is due to end in June.
The application deadline end in 4 days time....

    What i want to know:

    Should i apply now?

Well, this has been racking my brains for the past weeks. (and especially tonight as you can see, 4:15am and still cant sleep lol)

Do i apply now and say goodbye to the computing qualification - even though i know i definitly want to be in the PSNI.

Im not in the best of shape atm, only walking the dog at a fast pase each day for example (moderate exercise).

Does the training happen straight away after i send my application form away?

Also there is a family holiday booked end of July / start of August, will i have to cancel that holiday if training happens on those dates?

Basically i need alot of advice on my career, My cousin is in the PSNI and is having the time of his life (apart from being knocked off his motorcycle lol :P ), as well as past members and Family friends i have spoken to who all enjoy it. I am totally sure that i want to join the PSNI even though i am from a protestant background.

However, Should i apply now or wait until next year?

Any comments quick would be very sincerly appreciated.

Thanks for your time reading =]

    ~Stephen

I wold deffo apply now, do it online - you have only until 5pm on Thursday before applications close.

If you definitely want to be in the PSNI then what are you waiting for?
Carry on with your computing qualifications in case you dont make it thru, best to keep all your options open.

As for the fitness end of things, from what I have read on the board you do not have to be uber fit, just weight in proportion to your height, as apparently they like to see you make improvements in your fitness during the first training at Hotel Garnerville.

IMHO, you should deffo go for it this time, they experience will stand you in good stead should you not make it and have to re=apply next year, at least you will know what to expect.

Go for it, you have nothing to lose, we are all in it together here!
    Best of luck

Sorry, forgot to say also, your holiday shouldnt affect your appication, its a lengthy process, there are still people on the boards here in the process of C13, waiting on vetting and medicals - be warned you could be in for the long haul!!!:D

    Thankyou Gene. :) very reassuring.

but im still worried about the holidays part lol:rolleyes:

see friends and I have a holiday right at the end of June which i forgot to mention aswell as the july/august holiday.

will these tie in and disrupt my chances with getting into the pool?

    also.
What do most of you do while waiting on acceptance in?
I know my managers brother had to wait 3 years before he got to his 6 month Training camp.

    Thanks

Has anyone been in contact with recruitment recently. Is it ok now to phone them? I was thinking of asking them when they are likely to start sending out job offers for the May 25th campaign. Worried I might have more than 1 months notice to fulfill in my current job.:(

    Stephen,

    Welcome to the thread!

The holidays may have an effect but it’s unlikely. Here is what you can expect:

    Apply now;

    Initial Selection Test (April or May);

(you obviously need to pass this to move on to next stage)

    Assessment Centre (July or August)

I cant see the June holiday causing any problems as you wont be involved much in the process at this stage as consensia are likely to be still marking IST’s and what not?

If they do call you up for A/C they should give you a lot of notice so should it overlap with your holiday arrangements for this time you may be able to change dates. They are quite strict about this and may ask for travel tickets etc.

Im not 100% sure though if you can change dates with A/C but I know you van with the IST.

I’m finishing A-Level’s now and will be 18 at the time of my IST. I am declining university offers this year and I am going to take a year out to work and test my luck with C14. If I don’t get in this year im going to try again next year, the year after that and the year after that :D

In terms of the physical fitness it is a very rigorous couple of weeks from what I hear but nonetheless you have approx one year to get fit because provided you pass all the tests chances are you won’t start training until this time next year.

    Goodluck anyway ;)
    Ciaran
