    ok the laptop did the job...ive followed the unlockhatiphone.com link anbd its all working now its telling me to fill in my wifi...not sur what to do here...i am on vodafone but my sim isnt in there as I obviously need my mobile to work on another phone...im assuming there is an att sim in it but I cant open the sim door to find out...any help for this less technical person??

    It needs your WPA or WEP key to access your wifi

    is it a 1.12 Brand new I phone then your vodafone sim will not work in it you need a stealthsim or turbosim or similar to get it working or you need to wait for the software unlock.

    To open the sim door get a paper clip and pop it into the little hole beside the headphone port on the top of the iphone that little tray will pop out with the sim card in it

    ok opened sim door and thre is a 3g card in it which i assum is an att card as i got it in usa
    when i go to wifi as instructed it says choose other network...what do i put in here...should i have my own vodafone sim in for this part...seeing as i cant use the phone part of yet i still need my sim elsewhere...if ican use the 3g sim supplied what do i type i in other networks its looking for a network name and a password...ive tried a few things but am just guessing as not sure what I should be typing

    i know i cant use the phone but im following the unlockthatiphone.com link to jailbreak it so i can use the other components but i cant go any further without putting in wifi info and i dont know where to get that....

    The sim card is only for your phone service

    the network the phone is currently looking for is your wireless network

    leave the ATT sim in the phone you may need it in the future

    Just the BT for the moment does the BT modem have an aerial can your laptop or PC connect to it wirelessly

    no it connects by cable...is there any way around this...or do i need wifi to jailbreak...

    There is but honestly it is probably too difficult for you.

    Do you have a friend or relation that has wifi in their home that you could use or find a free wifi hotspot someone provided a list of them in Dublin a few pages back.

    Wifi is the easiest method

    thanks for all your help...i think i might go to vodafone tomorrow and buy their wireless connection and sign up with them instead try to get this thing sorted once and for all!!

    Vodafone will not help you

    All you need is a wireless broadband connection

    Where are you based

    vodafone do wireless for your laptop its 99euro for the wireless dongle thing and then the standard monthly rate
    im based in leixlip kildare...is there a better option you know of
    if there is a step by step to jailbreak without the wifii can follow it easily enough its just the wifi lingo that throws me:o

    Yeah but that is a different kind of wireless
    what you are looking for is a wlan ie broadband to your house via landline or cable or whatever and then a wireless router in your home that distributes your broadband connection.





    In fact if you have a wireless adaptor on your laptop you might be able to use ad hoc mode

    You could try your local Mcdonalds as a lot of them have wifi

    Hi, the best way to sort that is to go into installer on your iphone and install the app called "phone no. to name fix", you should find it under 'all packages" if you have the right sources added. While you're installing it will ask you how many digits phone numbers in your country have. I think you choose 8 and it worked for me anyway, texts no longer come up with just the number being shown.

    I know I've asked this before, and I'm going to ask again just to be sure, but after reading the past ten pages...

    Can I now buy a new, 1.1.2 i phone in a store in the states, bring it back and use it as a mobile phone?
    Is the stealthsim the only way, and if so how hard is it to get these?

    Yes you can, stealthsim/turbosim is the only way for now though. Same goes for phones bought in the North.

    Is it only in official apple stores that you can walk in, pick up the box buy and walk out with it? I've got an uncle in NYC at the moment. Where would the best place to buy be in NYC?
    Also where's the best spot to pick up a stealthsim or turbosim?

    Hi all gonna be in states in Jan and want to pick up an iphone over there,anyone know how to identify a 1.1.1 iphone when buying? ie any identifiable labels on box or anything? cheers.

    you won't get a 1.11 phone in the US unless you are extremely extremely lucky anything from week 45 is 1.1.2 although some earlier than week 45 were also 1.1.2 you can tell what week the phone is from the serial number 4th & 5th digit

    It's pretty good considering it's massive bright screen and all the tricks it can do. The iPod part of it has particularly impressive battery life. However a couple of times in the past few weeks I've taken the iPhone out of my pocket and it was very warm with the battery almost empty for no apparent reason(the wifi was off-the screen was locked and i had only charged it a few hours previously) i never installed ssh so that definitely wasn't draining my battery.
    I usually have to charge it every night from half or a quarter full battery but battery life varies hugely depending on how much time you spent using the wifi.

    thats why said don't buy yet wait and see what happens

    There no confirmation on this it could be a scam but then the site is using paypal which would not be great for a money scam.

    I suggest watching the hackint0sh thread and we will find out soon
