Ok, i decided today to give in to temptation and buy an iPhone, i ordered a 16GB one from iphonesimsolutions for 599, should arrive tomorrow. Not a bad price i thought seen as one of the members here pm'd me offering me an 8GB model for 550.

I have a quick question though, i was just reading about ziphone 2.0, the iphone i bought is unlocked with 1.1.3 and i was wondering if i should use ziphone 2.0 to put my bootloader to the old one, does it really make a big difference?? It says on his site it is very risky though, anyone any suggestions??

Also, RonSpr, it says on the site for ziphone 2.0 that if you get stuck with an apple logo, run ziphone -v -b and it should fix it, i dunno, be cafeful with -b though, i think it changes the bootloader and i dont know if thats safe.

Why do we need to change the bootloader anyway?

I tried the ziphone -v -b command and it just said "searching for iPhone..." in the command prompt, and that's it.

Anyone any ideas on how to get the phone out of the silver apple mode?

How much should I be looking for my iPhone to sell it. Originally 1.0.2 now on 1.1.3. The vibrate is broke so it has to be kept off (i emailed unlockthatiphone questioning the warranty, but no reply for 3 months surprise surprise). So how much?

Remove everything you do not need for updating especially summerboard etc

My personal preference is to restore to 1.1.1 jailbreak run Oktoprep and update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak again and then do the devteam softupdate to 1.1.3 then update your baseband to 04.03.13 run anysim 1.3

It is longer but much cleaner and does not give you the problems that have been shown here by people doing the update with third party apps installed

    hey CD
is it worth using ziphone 2.0 method instead??

Judging by the problems people are having I would say no

Zibris solution is fast but it is far from a finished article either do it the long way or wait for a couple of days and see if the bugs are ironed out of ziphone

No if you are on 1.1.1 no need to virginize that is only for people on 1.0.2

The easiest way is ziphone but it is not the best way

The best way is the long way

run oktoprep then update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak and run the dev team soft update to 1.1.3 from the installer then you can update the baseband to 04.03.13 and run anysim 1.3 if you want you can stay on 04.02.12 but if you are doing that unlock it while you are still on 1.1.2 by running anysim 1.2u

Ziphone 2.0 can now software downgrade your bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9

WARNING BIG CHANCE YOU MAY COMPLETELY BRICK YOUR PHONE

If you are crazy enough to try it the benefits are that you would be able to erase baseband move up and down go to 04.03.13 and unlock it.

Personally I would not risk it yet given how many problems people have been having with ziphone on the jailbreak etc but if you have an iphone you don't mind bricking let us know how you got on

    Hey all,

I've had my iPhone unlocked for the last week (used the software unlock and not a sim solution), and from time to time I seem not to be getting texts at the time that they were actually sent to me or my friends cannot get through to me, saying that it goes direct to voicemail. I obviously expect this if I am in a area with bad reception but I know I am not and should be getting a full signal. Sometimes the phone can lose the signal for a while. It is not chronic and it is something that I can live with, but that is not ideal. Has anyone else had the same problem? If so, is there some simple solution? Would a new sim card help matters?

    Thanks in advance.

I hate to piss on your parade but that method is not recommended

Ever since the dev team released their version of the 1.1.3 jailbreak, there have been problems, as theirs and the one that Nate True released do not behave the same. The jailbreak released by Nate does not maintain the privilege separation between the “mobile” user, which most apps run as in 1.1.3, and the “root” user. The dev team’s jailbreak preserves this.
Nate’s allowed most apps to continue to run as they had on previous releases. The dev team’s causes many apps to break. The dev team’s is the more correct method, however. Apps need to be rewritten to work in the new environment, rather than hacking the system to allow them to run unmodified.
Some developers are coding their apps to work with Nate’s jailbreak, while others are coding theirs to work with the dev team’s. This is bad. Users can’t tell which jailbreak method an app is targeted to run under and developers don’t know which jailbreak method the user used.
I have been asking Nate to update his jailbreak package so that it behaves the same as the dev team’s. I believe he is working on it, but it is not yet ready apparently. I cannot, in good conscience, keep letting people download and use his method and just letting this problem continue to get out of hand. Therefore, I have removed Nate’s jailbreak package from my repository. When/if he provides me with an updated version that is compatible with the dev team’s jailbreak method, I will be happy to host it for him.
Developers: code your apps for the environment created by the dev team’s jailbreak.
Users: Nate tells me he is working on a package that will convert a device jailbroken with his package to one compatible with the dev team’s. I encourage you to run it, when it becomes available, or that you start over and jailbreak with the dev team’s package.
We all need to be on the same page, with the same kind of jailbreak. Otherwise we will only have a huge mess. Yes, moving to the new way of doing things causes pain for developers and packagers. Installer.app 3.0 will help ease this pain, but the fact is we will just have to bit the bullet and get through this transition the best we can.
    -ste

Which basically means that developers are not developing for Natetrues (ibrickr) 1.1.3 jailbreak
