There are two iPhone stickies that answer your questions.

XSIM no longer need to unlock any current iPhone

iPhone is GSM only, 3 are 3G USIMS only and there will not work in a GSM only phone

Ok one thing im noticing, theres 180mb + been taken up by what i gather is the installation file downloaded over wifi for upgrading to 1.1.3 need to find it and DELETE

I used the iClarified 1.1.3 installer update/jailbreak and now Installer just displays the standard OS X App icon and won't launch, i can't fix problems like numbers displaying instead of names in texts.... the SSH icon is missing too
should i just restore?

Okay it was hanging for 2 hours, so turned it off and turned it back on again and lo'n'behold i have 1.1.3 version running.. However, next step was to go into categories, iclarified and run Geohot Unlock(1.1.2, 1.1.3) but as soon as i click the big red install, i get the downloading package messge, get a message saying this process will take about 5 minutes, make sure you have autolock set to never ... etc.

I click OK
A progress bar pops up saying preparing files.. then it kicks me back to the
iphone default icon screen... any ideas?

If i open installer and click uninstall, i cant find it so it mustn't have installed.

I am not sure if this helps, but I was unlocking a iphone the other day for the first time, I was following the guide on the iphone.unlock.no website, I followed the instructions to the letter and while jailbreaking 1.1.2 the program said it was done and the phone would reboot a couple of times, but it did not do so, and just left the phone in recovery mode. On the second attempt I used independance to kick the phone out of recovery mode and the phone was unlocked. But don't use this program to do anything else it does not seem to work.

Trying to run geohot, it kicks me out as described earlier. so i figure i dont have enough space left as i cant think what else it could be, also i keep tyring to reinstall so i think it keeps downloading packages.

So i think i need to log in and check space..

Is there another way i can check available space for the GeoHot fix but to do it using a mac and not a pc.. or preferably the iphone itself?

Guys I'm actually near tears I've had a functioning 1.1.2otb w46 jailbroken to 1.1.1 for quite a few months and as you can imagine when i saw s/w unlock i was amazed, I used iCalrified. However I kept getting "error" trying to find a carrier and obviously it couldnt geta signal, even though iWorld was set correctly. Problem is I cant get it out of 1.1.3 after itunes automatically restored it, when I do try to downgrade it to 1.1.1 I get error (1) cant restore, I've put the phone in restore mode but it makes no difference. This is genuinely heart breaking as I've usually followed everything to a tee. Any help is massively appreciated in advance.

Okay my suspicions were right.. i SSH'd into the iphone
and found out this

Use BossTool (source is http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo) and move fonts & ringtones to the large partition, leave applications. This will free up around 100MB which will be enough for the unlock.

This is breaking my heart..

I ssh'd in, deleted 2 ringtones, disconnected.
Now when i turn on the ipod it brings me to the slide to unlock.

Now i get a blank screen except for the dock at the bottom.. but no icons.
cant run anything.

Does anyone want to earn a bit of cash and do this for me as a nixer.
I want to have 1.1.3 unlocked and jailbroken without having to have a
degree in programming...! GAAAHHHH why did i start this

You could start over. Restore to 1.1.1, jailbreak to 1.1.2, then move fonts & ringtones, jailbreak to 1.1.3 (optional) and finally unlock. There are iclarified guides for all those steps.

Ok some advise

When updating to 1.1.3 do yourself a favour and either remove all the third party apps you do not need or do a fresh install and then upgrade

Most of the problems I can see here are related to trying to update to 1.1.3 with a load of apps still installed in 1.1.2

lastly when you are updated to 1.1.3 becareful about what apps you install most apps do not work with 1.1.3 or do not work properly with 1.1.3 STE has a list of the apps that are updated for 1.1.3

If you are using the iclarified guide then you do not need to use airplane mode you wont get a chance to do it anyway as you need wifi connected to install the unlock program and it runs from the installer

Sorry hard to understand are you on 1.1.3 locked and you can not get it downgraded

Try downgrading to 1.02

You could see if you are ssh is still up if it is you could drop the installer app in problem solved

And finally

On the 1.1.3 SMS numbers contact fix if you ssh in from a MAC it works perfectly but if you use the same file and ssh in from a PC it doesn't it maybe that the orignal file was created on a mac and windows does something to the formatting of the text file.

I'm back in the game running 1.1.2 otb, jailbroken to 1.1.1 then 1.1.2 and s/w unlocked. iWorld - Ireland selected, also completed: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21769 , which is the work around for appsupport.framework. Still however I can't find a network (GSM) i go to carrier and its "Loading" for about 2 minutes and closes back to settings menu. Last night I had the same problem but displayed "error", and then I set about wrecking my phone Anyway as I said, I've followed everything to this s/w unlock and worked with iWorld and so on, really wrecking my head [vodafone btw]

Try rebooting the phone can you find a service if you put in a X sim card

When i go to select carrier it displays "loading" for ages and doesnt show anything.
