i dont think that is long enough to have been a railway carriage.Id suggest it is a purpose built showmans van.Id like to see more details of its railway life if it had one please.

60 foot would be about the right length of a train carriage.

Train cars came in all lenghts. I've known this wagon since 1988 when is was imported from an italian circus to an irish circus. it also appeared in 3 episodes of Ballykissangel when a traveling preacher came to town.
the green was changed to wine (by me) in '96/'97 because traveling a green, white, and gold trailer in the north of ireland was getting to be a hassle
while i was painting it i never found any makers plate which would be normal on any showmans wagon.
because of it's lenght it was hard to get into some grounds which led to it having it's ass dragged sideways with a strap and a tractor, which eventually led to the back axle snapping.
i was told it was from a train and from inside it looks more like a train car than outside. It had one long corridor along the side and all the rooms (5 in total) had sliding doors, basicly it looked like a train and felt like a train so i had no reason to believe it wasn't from a train.

Came across this one today.... As you can see, it's in bits, but strangely enough the interior in it seems to be in perfect condition.

^ That Fiat will never see the road again, that's for sure!

Given the tax was out in 2000, I reckon it was the NCT that took this car off the road. It was probably in fairly ropey condition prior to that!
