do you have any evidence (besides this case) to suggest it's not only elderly people and women?

Well hmmmm let me see. How many WOMEN AND PENSIONERS drive 911s? (Just one car that springs to mind that someone would put a gun or a golf club to your head for!).

Just because YOU don't know someone could simply mean you don't know anyone with a car that someone would steal. And how car hijacking and car theft are "not the same thing", I will never know.

It's completely your own choice, but from someone who has driven high performance cars for the last 4 years, I don't feel any less a 'man' for having auto lock activated!!

Not a good idea - especially when driving on motorway, national roads, etc. If you're in an accident, they have to smash windows, cut roofs off etc to get you out rather than just open your door.
If you are involved in an accident which is serious enough to warrant the services of the Fire Brigade, it is highly unlikely that the doors would open anyway even if unlocked.

Heres where it happened, anyone familiar with the airport will know where it is. The media called it "lovers lane" just to add a bit of interest to the story. Its popular with plane spotters and truckers and even has a chipper van there sometimes.

How could it be possible with plane spotters when the runway is on the opposite side of the airfield

The story seems to have fizzled out, the guards never said if those two lads in custody were charged or not :(
