.....in God, jesus, heaven, religion in general?
I don't believe in any of that stuff anymore and the way science is going it kinda proves the world was started by the "big bang" not by God:rolleyes:

Religion is a psychological security blanket for those who have trouble dealing with their own mortality. So no I don't believe in it, or science for that matter

Or a better question is WHAT started the big bang - scientifically speaking? Until science can answer that I am inclined to believe in some sort of higher power, though not the God that I learnt about as a child.

I'm somewhere between a believer and an agnostic.

I believe that people should read their thread titles before hitting the post button.

    "To You Believe?"

    That's not a question.

Some kind of an afterlife but apart from that, no idea about god and all that jazz. My brain hurts.

I find the idea of an afterlife repulsive. To go for all eternity in a place that makes no sense when you get down to the logistics of it.

If your wife dies and you re-marry, won't it be awkward in this after life?
What about if you're really old and senile when you die? Do you stay that way in heaven, and if you get to be a younger more lucid version of yourself, then how is that determined?

Life is finite, make the most of it while you have it.

I also believe in the big bang, and I believe most of the stuff you read in books on theoretical physics. Some religions, most notably Islam, actually embrace science and mathematics, and what the Qur'an tells us is in line with scientific reality. This is a pretty interesting article on Islam and the Big Bang if you're interested.

As much as I'd like to believe that theres an afterlife, I very much doubt there is. I'd also like to believe in re-incarnation but chances are thats a white lie too.
I don't know what to believe.

    Worst post EVAR.

I don't believe in God/Heaven or any other supernatural beings or occurrances. We are biological instances of evolved bodies of cells blah blah blah...

We exist simply to exist. To reproduce, continue our race.

I don't believe in the Big Bang as such however. I believe that space is infinite, and in the same sense that a monkey and a typewriter with an infinite amount of time will write the entire works of Shakespeare (it will, don't question logic.), this instance of Earth as we know it, had to exist somewhere, sometime.

There are probably other instances like ours, infinte amounts of time and space away from us and therefore irrelevant, but that is a purely academic point and thinking about infinite space makes my brain hurt a bit.

I like to think there's someone who hears my pleas ever now again as it makes me feel safer but I dont believe in heaven.
Death is a never-ending,dreamless sleep imo.

I would have thought the concept of infinity is in itself supernatural.

You don't believe in the big bang? On what basis? The act of a monkey infinitely typing on a typewriter producing a Shakespearean body of work, by its definition, begins at one certain moment in time, or rather, begins at one certain event in space-time.
The Earth similarly, had to, even as a random event, begin at a definite event. That is to say that the Earth began, like a Shakespeare play, at a single point in space and in 'time'.

Isn't a non-belief in god (or a god) just as much an act of faith as a belief in god is? It seems that athiests get caught up in the negitive aspects of religion (of which there are a ****load) while ignoring the good aspects. And i think its ironic that athiests like Richard Dawkins seem to act just like the evangelicists (spell?) they so deplore by saying how bad and stupid relgion is and going out of their way to promote athiesism. I really hate that chap.
Anyway, this rant is probably better suited to the athiesism forum or a new thread or something. I believe in god btw.
