It has been recently announced that almost half of all ASBO's (Anti-Social Behaviour Order) have been breached and all attempts to crack down on this by the British Government has failed (more-or-less). "Yobs" are out of control

If you were in charge, what would you bring into practice to crack down on this?

I would make sure that all employers do not hire anyone who has an ASBO. This way they would know that if they act like that, then they have basically ruined their future.

Either that or I would instate a force in England called the "White and Pale" which would be made up of Ex-Army and IRA soldiers. It would be somewhat ironic.

Withdraw some pivilages from them once they get an ASBO, eg Social Welfare, NHS, Education.

That or take 'em out and shoot them.

Withdrawing education is not the brightest idea!
they should have a cufew put on them that can be enforced using those ankle things. If they are old enough make them go to work at night as most anti social behaviour happens at night.

So organising a rave in the UK is seen as an asbo and according to the criminal justice act - a rave is 2 or more people gathered in one place listening to repedative beats

Do you think if a group of mates had a party with 'repedative beats' and the police shut them down and gave them an ASBO, they should not get jobs?

After they could never ever get a job in a society, what would they do?

ASBO's are an absolute load of crap, put forth by middle-aged scared people who don't have a clue whats going on, and feel the best way to solve this is to arrest young people for no reason.

What they need is some extra love really. They're just misunderstood children from tought backgrounds, and really we should be reaching out to them with a loving hand, as caring adults.

Seriously though ASBO's seem to be a bit ludicrous, especially when you look at some of the "less conventional uses" (such as an ASBO on a whole area). It just seems to be a method of furhter classifying and segregating society, and bringing a wide range of crime and disorder under one easily digestible title. They don't so anything to solve any of the social problems or rehabilitate offenders.

Surely making them do something would be more productive than taking things away!
If you take away education,.they'll never learn acceptable behaviour
If you take away social welfare you may increase theft

If you make them work on a farm (for example) for their social welfare.. they may cop on a bit quicker as they won't be so used to physical work!

As an aside, it's funny how the British Labour government think that 'naming and shaming' fathers who don't pay parental money will help the problem. How feckin' middle-class is that? Oh yes, they'll be 'shamed' into paying the money, indeed they will. It will just be like ASBOs - worn as a badge of honour.

It may sound a little wanky of me to say, but I've been to Germany, France, Belgium and you don't have the same underclass/ASBO types there at all. Answers on a postcard please?

In the meantime - a US Marine style boot-camp...without the basic weapons training obviously!

Whats needed is investment and education, its very tempting to take the shortest route to satisfaction - Lock em up, but they'll come back out far worse, ASBO is just a cheap way of "locking them up", it does'nt solve anything. Give the little runts something to look forwards to and they could shock thier parents by outstriping them for ambition in a few years.

"Jasus Da, you're still in the sack at 11? Get up and get dowm the job centre, I'm not paying taxes for you to sit around all day!"

Well thank god you're not in charge so, you would prevent anyone from gaining employment if they get an ASBO? Thats a marvelous idea, so if a 13 year old writes there name on a bus shelter or tells somebody to fukk off then they should be encouraged to behave better by being told they now have no chance of getting a job in the future. Genius.

I have no problem sending them off to war. Boot camp, the whole lot. They have very little (if any) self respect/respect for the community they're in, so the army would kick a bit of reponsibility into them.
Anyway, a lot of european countries have it so you have to do your time in the army, or (I think) twice as long in the civil service.
But something will have to change. I personally feel society and our morals are going down the drain..

Or...they need tough love, discipline and the chance to find fulfilling work to make a life for themselves....which all takes time, dedicated people and money too.

Withdrawing education wouldn't make a bit of difference if they're only concerned about the present and not thinking about their future anyway

My parents would suggest national service, which some European companies still have

I still maintain a DRAFT will work.

Its tough, its f00king 'orrible...

But it takes the yob off the street for 6-18 months. Build him/her a sense of self respect and respect for other's sharing their environment.

From everything I've read from the UK (when it was active in the 50's & 60's) it certainly worked.
