Any server that is not running that titan crappy mode. Go on to camp Gibralta or cadare landing good inf maps.

Some of the fighting to defend the titans is great stuff, nice and close in and vicious, and a good source of knife kills.

Silos lightly covered with C4, is the greatest thing ever. spread them run off somewhere obscure where you can view with your scope, then whens theres enough bad guys around the silo or its about to be captued, just click. I'd so much fun with that last night, after the 3rd time it was funny to watch on the scope and see the guys cautiously walk to the silos looking at the ground, boxes etc, then start picking them off and hope that they take cover near the silo.

WTF is up with MD mines, they're insane. Drove into a base saw these things on the ground, skillfully did'nt get anywhere near them and next thing they rose up and followed me. the base must've had about 5 engineers, because the mines took out my hovertank and the next 3 jeeps to drive in there.

Played my first game last night. Its like a cartoon version of BF2. Titan mode was a lot of fun. Loved the firefights onboard the titans while defending and attacking them. The Walkers are also a lot of fun.

Pity about the helos though. Its supposed to be the future yet the helos would get schooled by a BF2 jet. Maybe they will add proper aircraft with a $30.00 expansion / ripoff.

Overall it was fun. But I think more people will have to migrate from BF2 to make it a bit more intense.

Didn't notice any in game adds but maybe they still have to load them.

I'm still flip flopping. It certainly hasn't grabbed me the way BF2 did.

played the demo there and was digusted at the whole "being able to see enemy behind walls" thing, Ghost recon style. And I thought the UAV was bad this is unreal!!!

I mean WTF??? May as well add auto aim :mad:

I'm bored and i have'nt even played it yet. Most of the reviews suggest
it is woeful. I'll stick with bf2 until 2124 has been around for a while.
Maybe i'll get it when it's half price.

love bf2, played the demo non stop till i got bf2, from the moment i got it last xmas, didn even have broadband/internet, and i played it for hours then got bb and the game opened up even more for me. I dwnloaded bf2142 the other night played it once uninstalled it and that was that!! ill stick with bf2 more my cupo tea and the gameplay is sooooooooooo much better.......

give it a chance man, it was my first impression too.

Kinda got back into it, changed my strategy of hovertank whoring, ever since i got the recon carbine.


BTW theres nothing worse than playing with a crap team againt an organised team. i don't know how many times i ran into 2-3 mecs last night. i'd like to mention again how unfair DM mines and automated turrets are(unfair in that i don't have them yet).

What exactly about the UAV is bad? Its perfectly realistic, so thats can't be it. Everyone has access to it, so it can't be a power balance issue.

The point I'm getting at is that if you really look at it I think you'll find that your complaint is a subjective opinion, you personally do not enjoy it, but that doesn't mean there is anything objectively wrong with it.

or matbe they shouldn't be comparing the two games as much, but aseeing as how they are ,so will i, in my opinion it significantly elevates the gameplay over bf2, it encourages teamplay a hell of a lot more than bf2 did, i've actually seen classes cooperate in this game to acheive their goal, not just a bunch of lone wolf glory hunters.

2142 should be a squad up or you cant play game. Theres one ranked bf2 server where the rules are that you have to squad up or get kicked, and all squad leaders must use voip.
It doesnt just encourage teamplay, it forces it.
It makes the game sooooo much better.


These should be the rules for both games, imo.

So my conclusion after playing it for a while is that... it's ok though not nearly as cool as it could have been.

So many weapons are simply re-styled from BF2.

The air vehicles are easier to fly... which is a good thing.

The graphics are cool... but the unlocks make it slightly unfair, especially as once a person is commander, they can amass more points than almost anyone else.

I'd give it 7.5 / 10 whereas bf2 deserved 9.5 / 10.

commander getting more points is complete hogwash, i usually end a game with 80 points before badges, it usually turns out to be 120-180 career points. and thats through plain old hard work. im about to hit 1st LT gold and have 3 hours as commander.....

The trick is to play the game with an objective before you start, my objective in a titan game is
1. destroy the titans guns
2. cap the silos and defend the most vulnerable one until the shields drop
3. attack their titan quickly if their shields drop first, defend ours if ours go down first.

if you are any good you will see your score soar as you rake in titan attack bonus and capture/defend points and kills.

Turbot has a point with the commanders. I can't remember seeing a commander not get a gold at the end of the round. Played commander once, did'nt win but i still got a farely decent score, especially with the badges awarded afterwards. Commander is'nt my thing anyway.

Getting lost coneection to server every now and then.

1 Mec, 1 tiger, 1 car, and seven people in total with one Car C4 run today, took out the whole base essentially and captured the flag too(killed 2 with claymores while taking it). A total of 26(10 for explosives badge, 5 for 5 in a row, 9 kills and 2 for neutralise and capture) points in about 30 seconds, not too bad.

to be honest with ya,I love it,and I think a lot of people will lean toward it at some stage!!It's fun and new and altho it may be as pleasing as many would have hoped it's still a great game!

tbh I had more connection problems and waiting times in BF2!Actually it grew to be quite annoying after a while waiting and waiting,most of all when a game like CS:S OR DOD justloads straight in!

I bought the game today,very disapointed with it.
I should have kept my judgement from the demo,ie good game but light years behind BF2.

I gave it a right go and just cant take to it at all,looks like i have a brand new 2142 for sale

Unless something's gone very wrong, then it's meant to be that way, some of the unlocks are Networked Battlefield equipment which relays info to squad members.

Give it a little more time, try titan mode, and some of the unlocks, before giving up. It's not BF2 by a long shot, but entertaining enough.
