    Ummm BF 3?
im gonna go on record as saying 2142 is strictly for pub newbies and bf2 fanboys who think bf2 is the be all and end all cause 'OMG I GOT TEH UNLOCK!"

Jesus I thought CS was the only community that had people like youself..

says the person with 6 cs servers in his signature...sure.

people like myself? Would that be fans of the original who hate seeing the good name of bf trampled through the mud?

he has 6 CS servers, so he knows exactly what he's talking about with the rubbish remarks about "dem n00bs" and what not...

and the "fans of the original" (YOU WEREN'T THERE MAN, YOU JUST WEREN'T THERE!) should be delighted their beloved series has moved on and become incredibly popular. it gives you more "n00bs" to kill...

as for the "good name of bf being trampled through the mud", i barely even batted an eyelid at the series until bf2 tbh. the reviews and glory it gets in general gaming press and websites says that it's getting put on a pedestal above any squad-based shooters out there. it's only being "trampled through the mud" by the "fans", like yourself

Doh maybe I was too vague.. Have a look in the CS forums and see how many lads are harking on about the old beta 3 or 1.6 days and complaining about how valve have ruined the game, marginalised the community, made it easier for n00bs etc.. Then have a look at the arrogant comments they make and how every smart comment they make is added to by 3 or 4 of their mates saying lolerz, rofl copter blah blah.. I could tell you what I think of them but I will leave it to your imagination..

Reading your post reminded me of them.. I used to think it was something that was exclusive to CS.

As I have said before, everybody but the hardcore 1942 fans seem to be relatively happy with what EA and Dice have tried to do. BF2 had plenty of flaws but it introduced alot of good ideas. 2142 is a lazy add on in my opinion but it could prove to be enjoyable. On another note, talk to someone who makes a living out of hosting games servers and they will have alot of good thing to say about EA and Dice.

you're assuming that because my intro to the battlefield series was last year with bf2 that i have not invested in that shiny little box-set of the old battlefield games...

    pfft. noob.

Im sure they had good things to say about them, probably mad ea nice little killing off the whole ranked server crap.
The fact is while you were off playing CS most of us here were palying and loving 1942/bfv, and if youre first introduction to bf was BF2, you're used to sh!t patches and EA's bull****, whereas the rest of us will know that it wasnt always like this, it USED to be that we got quality patches with free maps, instead of being charged for 'booster packs', and it seemed like ea/dice actually gave a ****e about the bf scene. So yes, i am hacked off about the new iteration of bf. And yes i also played cs 1.6 and source, and love source, so i do recognise a quality product when i play it.
But yeah, everyone but the hardcore 1942 fans are delighted, all 3 of you. Have fun now! Tell me if you see any really good advertisments for produckts you might wish to purchase.

Dreamcrusher - although I understand where your coming from, you need to grow up. Your attitude is borderline ridiculous, some of the people in this forum have been contributing to it for years, your not here a wet weekend so do us all a favour and give over.

Back on topic - I fired up the demo last night for another go and turned it off after 10 minutes. It looks crap and plays terribly. ETQW all the way.

    Banned and rejoined?

ETQW looks the bloody business btw, have spent the last hour checking the website.

Aye ETQW should be good. Always liked objective type maps in fps games. A few of the DC maps for BF42 where objective based along with a few of the BFV ones.

As I see it objective based games tend to lead to even more team play than normal.

RTCW Multiplayer was like that where you had to do specific things, blow up doors, retrieve documents etc. Will be a nice return to team play for me.

Yep. I loved ET when I first found it and still play it from time to time now. No engineers and nothing get's repaired, no recon and you'll never get those mines spotted nor get the chance to end the round quickly and so on...All classes need to work together to get past the objectives and I was always impressed with how they designed the maps around the objectives.

He was acting like an assh0le, thats why.
Every one can have an opinion but being uber aggresive is not on, especially seeing as the guy was only here a wet weekend.....

Well its not the first time EA have done something like this. They ruined Ultima Online when they took over from Origin.

Also, be warned.... this "spyware" issue is probably the first of many such issues.

Personally, if EA are allowed to get away with this, more publishers will follow and it will just snowball.
We could be looking at the beginning of a new low in publishing.

EA are far from the first company to do this though. Splinter Cell have the very same ads yet very little protest against them from the actual SC players..

yeh well my copy's being processed by play.com right now so i've kinda settled into wait and see mode, no choice now anyways

Quite enjoying the demo, cant wait for the release.
Infantry seem to finally be more than tank fodder now to. Also, battles feel like battles, not tiny 1 on 1's with 64 people spread everywhere, ducking incase a jet comes. I havent noticed any of the bugs, and I can live with the Ads.

Bunch of kids hopping on the anti EA- bandwagon. Like the anti MS one etc.

Ah I see, I didnt realise that.

Well I reemmber need for speed underground 2 having a lot of advertisements within it too.

Using gamers for marketing and advertising deeds tho.... it aint right.
