But those are huge points she made. One of the breast youtube videos I've seen in a while.

Probably no great surprises in this, but interesting nonetheless.

The “upper class,” as defined by the study, were more likely to break the law while driving, take candy from children, lie in negotiation, cheat to increase their odds of winning a prize and endorse unethical behavior at work, the research found.

I have to disagree. People like Denis O'Brien are fair and just.

What about the Royal family. When they scrape together a bit of cash they try and do something nice for their people. (lol, they're German) They do a lovely parade where you can see the vulgarity of their riches up close.

Would it really have been that hard for them to include a link to the study in the article?

The first criticism that popped into my mind was that the upper class would actually have more opportunities (and more visibility/exposure) to do the above quoted in the text. The lower classes might not have the time (or same level of exposure) in the first place for such opportunities.

How would the 'upper class' have more exposure to driving a car, children holding candy, competitions or employment? I'd say it's pretty even, although the 'upper class' may have more chauffeurs.

Studies have been done on the effectiveness of psychopaths in business (they make great CEO's).

^^ You seem very intent on believing what appears to be a fairly basic 'study' done in another country.

Standing at junctions making snap judgements on the cars people drive? Just no. A shiny 10 year old BMW is worth less than a grubby 2 year old Micra - exactly how scientific can you be without studying archive footage.

Bit of a pet peeve of mine, but none of those quotes are sexist. It might be shallow of men to be so easily distracted by the woman's massive...tracts of land, but that's not inherently sexist.

I put my hands up. I only read about half that article. (mind wandered onto remembering hearing that John Gilligan would make a perfect CEO). SO I Googled psychopaths and CEO's. I honestly didn't know why you mentioned standing at a junction. Then I finished the article. :o

I suppose I took it for granted that The Business Post would have decent articles but alas, this one is laughable. It's an amateur 'study'.

Now I know how Artie Fufkin felt in Spinal Tap.
    "Kick my ass!"
"I'm not asking, I'm telling with this!". :D

    http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2012-02/new-disposable-dna-sequencer-runs-molecular-analysis-powered-usb

New DNA sequencing machine that takes a fraction of the time (The original human genome project took years, this takes hours), at a fraction of the cost ($900 a pop as opposed to several thousands), and small enough to fit in a USB port (Doesn't need a laboratory or two).

I don't know about you, but I think that's freaking amazing.

People get paid to take part in trials, not the other way around. Trials are just that, trials. There's no solid evidence that it works so it is generally considered unethical to require people to pay to be in a trial. They might be paying for nothing, they might be paying to be made worse. In a free trial or a trial you're being paid to take part in that's part of the risk you take.

Would you buy an experimental transport device touted to replace the car while it was still in the experimental research stage to see if it could in fact drive anywhere?

I was away for a few days, didn't get a chance to reply.

When i watched the documentary, the money never really dawned on me. It's a private clinic so the fact you had to pay for the service seems logical. They don't have the backing of a large medical company like the trials you talk about, nor is it a governmental agency. They don't force people to do the trial, they offer it. Besides, to my knowledge guinea pigs get paid, but I've rarely heard of ill people getting paid to trial a drug and you'd want to be something special to trial a drug when a cure is at hand.

And to answer your comparison question, the car should get me to Cork every time, Cancer on the other hand does not have such certainties. So the comparison is hard to answer. Chalk cheese.

I get it though. This guys seems very dodgy. I don't disagree with that, anybody should be sceptical when a doctor opens a clinic in his own name, and claims to have a low percentage success rate treating some strains of cancer in young adults.

I'll put it down to the silly optimistic side of me hoping for success in cancer cures, as radiation and chemotherapy need a little help!

A great quote from a Lawrence Krauss article in the Washington Post:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/guest-voices/post/rick-santorum-says-liberal-education-leads-to-loss-of-faith-atheists-rejoice/2012/02/28/gIQAya3MgR_blog.html

"If it is true that those who are more educated have a greater tendency to question their religious faith, shouldn’t we consider that this might be telling us more about religious faith than about how harmful getting a college degree can be?"

It would be really awesome if they discovered Jesus' burial site. It would prove he's still dead.

Not really, that's probably just Jesus' tomb for when he was an old man, not a (deceased) 33-year old preacher.

Maybe do a DNA test on the bones, and finally find out who his real father was?
