I love mantas, a nice alternative to a MK2 escort. I Marshall for a lot of rallies locally each year and there is always a couple of them in it. Surprised at the pace they have for such an old car.

ive always wanted a manta, but while trying to get a quote online with quinn direct i noticed that it showed an option of a turbo model.

was there ever a turbo manta??????

I thought I would post up a couple of pictures from Mosney last Sunday. There was a great turn out of cars on the vxopel/OMOC stand.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.

I have a Kadett C into which I am hoping to put a 2 ltr redtop engine but I need a manta for some bits to do the conversion.

I would be interested in buying one shot through with rust and scraping it for the bits.

I need rear cross member and suspension, sump, engine mounts. rear diff suspension and prop, sump, engine mounts, gearbox etc.

Anyone know where there is one going cheap (budget is tight after buying the kadett and the engine.)

Some of the parts you will need for the redtop are like hens teeth I'm afraid - be prepared to have to spend a good few quid!

Why is the stuff so expensive?Isnt there alot of mantas about,so there must be a good few scrappers too?

There may be a lot of Mantas about but very few of them have the parts you require for your project - hence it's a supply and demand issue where low supply means high asking prices.

Exacty like that.

Its either that or perhaps a Rover V8 which ever the budget will stretch to.

Using manta parts is the easiest way to do it but not the only one.

Ah...my Manta thread has been 'resurected'!:)

I have to say, as a Manta fan, that it kinda saddens me to see so many Mantas being modified with non-standard engines, wheels, bodykits, etc.:(

It's almost getting to the stage that it's hard to come across an original spec Manta anymore?!

What is it about Manta's (or some of their owners!) that makes them more likely to be modified than say..Capris or Escorts ???

It may have something to do with their rally pedigree. Mk2 Escorts seem to suffer from a similar problem.

Friend of mine has a 2 litre manta that he bought about 1995 never registered was sitting in a garage from new. he got it registered as 90 WX first registration only factory milage on it.:eek: He drove it for a while and its been in his shed ever since. quad headlights, red. I'd say he sell it. if u know anyone interested?
