Help to Identify this sailing Dinghy

    I'm not great on Dinghies, I sail cats. But I know that Elvstrom built boats like the Finn and Contender. I don't think that it is a Finn. The Contender is a single handed, single trapeze boat about 16ft long - Maybe ?
    Do you have the sail ? The Contender has 3 horizontal lines as a logo.

    Thanks JamesM for your help,

    I do not think this is a Contender, as the mast is further back, whereas on all of the Contender's I have seen the mast is mounted on top of the decking, whereas mine is in the cockpit.

    The sail is an Elvstrom sail too, but does not have the 3 stripes of a Contender.:(

    Here is what someone came back with.

    That's it; it is a TRAPEZ class dinghy. This was a high
    performance all-purpose dinghy designed by Paul Elvstrom and
    built by his company; not very many here in the US (in fact
    I'm a little surprised there's any). It was capable of being
    rigged as a cat for single handing or a sloop for two;
    intended to be an international & Olympic class for the
    truest possible one-design competition.

    It was a pretty nice boat but IMHO never really matched the
    470 for 2 or the Contender for 1.

    The original name of the racing dinghy is Trapezjolle (jolle = dinghy in German and Scandinavian languages). We still race the dinghy in regional and national Danish championships. In honour of Elvström's 80. birthday 28.02.2008 new hulls are being made - maybe with modifications - and a racingevent with famous sailors is to take place this summer.
