The easiest way to get a light punishment for killing somebody is to smack tons of metal at high speed into somebody. You might get a fine or probation

It shows disregard rather than intent ie he did not care whether he Killed the woman rather than actually intended to kill her

As someone said if he killed the company official he alledgedly drove at that would be intent.

I would imagine that the current charge is a holding charge whilst the state gathers evidence.
