Would anyone who was in 1st year BESS last year be kind enough to share their timetable? Would love to get some idea of what the week will look like!

Our timetable last year in the first term was:

    Monday Law 9-11, Business 12-2
    Tuesday Sociology 11-12
    Wednesday Maths 12-1, Politics 5-6
    Thursday Maths 11-12, Economics 12-2, Sociology 4-5
    Friday Politics 9-10

The only difference in HT was that Politics Friday moved from 9 till 12. And ye'll have tutorials as well as that!

Is law an option subject or do you have to do it? Are tutorials normally in the evenings or would they be during the day too?

Law is an option subject. You can do law, social policy or a language. I think French was Wednesdays 2-3 but for the other options I'm not sure.

It's really the luck of the draw as to when your tutorials are unfortunately! The latest they went on to in 1st year for us was 6-7pm. But like you don't have tutorials for every subject every week. Maths, Economics and Sociology tutorials are the only ones you'll have every week. Politics has 3 tutorials per term. In Business they alternate every few weeks between lecture and tutorial; you only have about 10 business lectures all year and the rest of the weeks you'll have tutorials usually at the same time as the lecture so 12-1 or 1-2. There were no tutorials for Law and not sure about the other options.

That's great, really appreciate your reply! Hopefully work will be ok with tutorials and that now!
Looking forward to getting started! :)

I've accepted my offer, is there any rush to sign up? There's no deadline?

    Sign up where?

    Sign up where?

    MyTCD.

    MyTCD.

Phew, thought I missed something important!

I logged in through there and it's still showing awaiting offer acceptance so there's nothing too interesting to see in there yet!

MyTCD will never really be interesting I'm afraid. You should check back on it closer to Freshers week to find out who your tutor is and set up a meeting with them. MyTCD is where you will go to find out your major exam results and pay fees and stuff. It's so incredibly slow and poorly designed it makes me sad.

Ah don't tell us that! The excitement of paying fees is just too great!

Did anyone else fail JF maths and stats this year or am I the only eejit who did?

Warning to incoming first years, the continuous assessment work you do during the year in maths doesn't roll over to the supplementals, you have to get the full 40% in order to pass (which, unfortunately, is a lot more difficult than you'd think)

Don't suppose anyone going into 3rd year BESS would like to share their timetable for second year MT? :p I'm really curious as to what hours I'll have

You only have to get 35% to pass by compensation, if you got over 40% in everything else.

Has anyone been able to register for second year yet? :) Also, does anyone have any idea what our timetable will be like?

I tried unsuccessfully to find the BESS office today to hand in my module choice form. Why is the arts building such a maze? I'm going to need a map for this year...

3rd Level, on the far right of the building near the Economics Department. Arts Block is not difficult at all to navigate once you've had a few classes/tutorials there. It's a wonderful building.

    Architecturally?

Yep, the tunnel thing was more convenient mind you.

If you're entering second year now, you would have had a module choice form circulated by email back in spring and you would have returned it to the bess office.

Hey, does anyone who does BESS know anything about the Double Degree programme with HEC Paris beyond the fact that it exists?
Like does anyone know of anyone who's done it, and what they ask for? And would it be possible to do the erasmus the year before and then do the exchange, or would you not be able to get the required grades? cheers :)

go on my.tcd.ie and click on timetable

make sure to change the date of timetable because it may show you on this week and therefore you might not see the timetable

not a js,this is just my guess
