Can't wait to see The Strokes this Monday! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I just wish they'd picked a smaller venue like The Ambassador and a better support act... aaaaaargh Adam Green ah well:rolleyes: ! It'll still be an amazing gig tho! Good news, they said that they'd be coming back for a European tour during the summer:D ! Just wondering, what time's everyone planning to line up at?

He was miles better with the Moldy Peaches.

Its good to see that they are still touring together. I remember seeing the Strokes in the Temple Bar Music Centre all those moons ago with the Moldy Peaches in Support. Class gig.

That's weird, I heard Humanzi too. I couldn't get a ticket though, so it makes no difference to me :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭Redegg

Yea Humanzi is listed on entertainment.ie. Not really that pushed. Adam green should be good. Jessica simpson ... and all that.

Adam Green is a mile better than The Strokes.

I would like to second this!! The only reason I'm going to this gig is coz I heard Adam Green was playing support so I ran into town yesterday and got the tickets! I missed him in Whelans so I'm thrilled I get to catch him now!

Yeah afaik Humanzi are playing support too!

I saw Humanzi at Lansdowne last Summer and they were brutal, quite frankly. I won't be going out of way to get in at 7.30 just to see them.
I don't know much of Adam Green's material but I'm told he's good so I'm looking forward to seeing him play.
Oh and The Strokes should be great as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭Redegg

wow their setlist on NME is quite amazing. so long. Dont really want to see the support band just going early so im not seeing dots on stage.

Adam was great but didnt suit the venue or the crowd I thought. Strokes were cool, really enjoyed them

Excellent videos.. thats for them! Great show. Support bands were not exactly amazing. Adam Green was quite good though.. Humanzi were so forgetable. Strokes had a really long set. All that jumping nearly killed me,..

Was anyone else in the huge pit in the centre of the pit area last night? I was surprised by how good the moshing was there last night, I love The Strokes and all, but I didn'tt hink the moshing would be that good! Don't ya love it when a band surprises you that way? My favorite song of the night had to have been New York City Cops.

I was the guy with the busted nose wearing the Clash shirt and the red 'Sixers jersey by the way.

Great gig, impressive set. So good my trousers damn near blew off. :v:

I was sitting in the seats above looking at all the moshing/bopping. Nearly killed me!! I really wanted to be downt there, looked amazing.

Strokes played the perfect set. And suprisingly well and sober!!

Though, it was cool to see an aerial view of the place with people crowd surfing and stuff.

Loved that they played a ramones song as well.

    Great gig.

    :D I was there.

    In my opinion:

Humanzi - v good band, enjoyed their set a lot

Adam Green - someone I would not go see again! OMG he sucked

The strokes - I'll be there at oxegen! They were great

Highlights of the show were the amazing lights used and "last nite" :)

V happy man leaving the point I was

Cracking gig, for me they lost some momentum by doing "Life is a gas" which I thought was a bit pointless, but an extremely impressive live act, and its only when you see them you realise how many killer tunes they've actually got.

Keep up the good work gentlemen.

You are not cool. I didn`t want to be ran at and thrown around the place thank you very much.

Ah well, sucks to be you then, I had a great time :D Maybe you should loosen up and try enjoy yourself next time.

I was quite underwhelmed by this. Unfortunetly I gave the new album a proper listen just before the gig to find out how bad it is. Oh dear.

I enjoyed them immensely at Oxegen two years ago but this was quite dull in comparison. Do they not get really really bored churning out the same music every gig? It was the same as the CD.

They also had the pits in force, hate the things. Can never get near enough and could barely see the band. It's tolerable when they have screens at the sides but without them they just seem... so... far...

    Alrite all,
Proper 8.5 gig last nite (see what i did there!). Does anybody know the exact setlist they played?

Conflicting ideas of enjoyment...you guys pretty much made every part of the pit uncomfortable to be in as a result of the chain reaction from bashing into each other and everyone around you. Keep it for Metallica or something, please.

    Great gig though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 184 ✭✭SxE Punk

Actually the hightened sense of awareness and levels of adrenilin caused by moshing are obviously, without doubt, gonna cause more enjoyment while at a gig, thats why people do it, infact, years ago at punk gigs people used to wear razor wire around their combat boots to cause more pain thus more adrenilin and therefor more enjoyment. So its not my fault if you're too afraid or stuck up to enjoy yourself.

And another thing: BITCH PLEASE! I wouldn't listen to any Metallica beyond search and destroy unless you paid me, copiously.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,643 ✭✭✭magpie

Years ago at punk gigs people used to spit at the band too, but I doubt anyone would be in favour of bringing back that little tradition.

Save the moshing for when you're listening to your Offspring albums at home and let people who are there to enjoy the band do so without imposing your idea of enjoyment on them.

    How old are you? 12?

oh dear... Why dont you just go to an S&M club? Are you going to oxegen? I am sure we can arrange somebody to take a stanley blade to your face before the strokes come on, make it all the more enjoyable for you

Take it or leave it was my favourite

Great gig, The Strokes don't disappoint! Anybody see that dumbass standing outside the front waiting to be let in because he thought his mate had his ticket?
(but found it in his pocket 10 minutes later pff! eejit!)
    Yeah that was me..

Nice vids Rivers thanks for posting them. Anybody else capture the magic?

I was in the pit. It wasn't too bad at all (first time in a pit) and it relaxed after the first 5 or so songs.

I was enjoying myself! and I did again, once I got away from you.

Anyway good gig. I saw them in the Olympia for my first ever gig when i was 14, that was some experience. Its never as good the second time around.

Yeah I was happily surprised by how good The Strokes were considering the new album has struggled to grow on me.

Humanzi were fabulous as usual and Adam Green..... what a legend! He was great entertainment. His performance of What A Waster by The Libertines was fantastic!

Great night. Well worth the money!

I'm nineteen, I'm not a huge fan of The Offspring, there's still spitting at some gigs and most other people impose their ideas of enjoyment on me at gigs anyway, I may as well do the same back. You think I like being surrounded by people hopping up and down? Or couples kissing and holding each other etc while getting in everyone's way? There was actually a couple fscking, literally fscking, at that gig. There's more annoying things than moshing.
