All tickets, on-line credit and promotional payouts will NOT be taken out of the prizepool. These are added courtesy of boylepoker. The total value added to the pool is a minimum of €1650. This makes it extremely good value for the players. There will be several freerolls @www.boylepoker.com in the few days before the event with top players awarded free entry to the championship event.
Pokerevents will be providing a director for the event as well as a table and dealer for the final table.

is there still no budging on the starting stack? 1500 really leaves absolutely no room to manoeuvre.

So is this event open to the general public?

    YES

The event will be open to the general public and I'm afraid we won't be budging from the starting stack of 1500.

starting stacks and blinds are a joke.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 Humer

The starting stacks of 1500 and blinds have been put in place to deal with time constraints given by the hotel. We are not playing in a casino and have a time at which we have to vacate the room on thursday morning.

Also we are currently discussing with BoylePoker, the idea of running the final table the next evening in the Gresham Hotel if we are being constrained by time. Hopefully this would promote better play at the final table.

Are ye paying out 10% of the people that turn up??? Are these "dealers" there all day or just the final 8 tables? Is this "tournament" self dealing???

I playin in this tourney on wednesday but I'm in work on Thursday so you better not have the final table then because I will be making that final table!!! P.S. whats up with the starting stack????? If you are gonna have the final table on Thursday have the startin stack more......If you don't Im just tellin anyone who is one my table I'll be callin your hands with cards like 2-4 off, hopin to hit a straight, get lucky and DOG your asses!!!! Woof Woof!!!!

Humer you wrote you want better play on the final table how will that be possible if the blinds dont slow down?? There will be loads of player with chips under pressure to go all in, thats not poker!!!!!! I put money on it that by 9pm nearly everyone will going all in becasue the blind willl have caught up with everyones stacks!!! Woof!! Woof!! Woof!! Woof!!

last years tourny had quite a few non students playing in the field. will u guys be strict on who enters the tournament. i love to play poker and this tourny is right up my street in regards finances.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 Humer

There will quite likely be a few non students playing though the vast majority will be in college. We will have no problem letting non students play on the night though tickets are limited so it will be first come first serve.

We will most likely be paying out the final two tables which wouldn't make the 10% of the 270 field.

Dealers will not be dealing from the start but in the later stages.

If the tournament shows no sign of finnishing on time it will most likely carry on the next day in the Gresham in conjunction with the Boylepoker €50 + €15 tournament.

How many numbers you got so far ? Thinking of heading on down tommorow, or should i prebook tickets with ye now ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 Humer

    Starting Stacks

To improve play we have taken the decision to have starting stacks at 2000.It will then be 2000 for rebuys and 3000 for a top up.

    Reservations

It would probably be wise to book your ticket in advance at humer@tcd.ie stating your name and the number of tickets you are looking for. There is not likely to be many tickets left on the door after tomorrows selling so it is advised to secure you're ticket in advance.

Registration will begin at 5.30 in the Gresham with Cards being dealt at 6.

There are around 20 tickets remaining which will be sold on a first come first serve basis from 5 P.M.

    See you at the tournament

I played in this last night posing as a student. Well run tourney. Food at the break was good. Went out in about 30th outta 233 runners. Didnt see QQ-AA in 5 hours of playing. Saw AK once, no AQ, no AJ. Made an UTG move with A rag and dogged a bigger A to get back to average stack. Then made my one bad play of the night when i tried to push a guy off his OP on a ragged flop with a gutshot draw. Missed and goodbye to me, just when i'd gotten myself into a decent position.

    Think the prizepool was 7k!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,116 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

Ah so there was only 233, thought there was suposed to be 450 ?

What was the player standard like at your table?

I thought there was 274 or there abouts?

I got a ticket to tomorrow nights event, from the high hand giveaway. I've been trying to get a hold of poker events as it says €65 on the ticket but the website says it's a €500 buy in. Any ideas?

It was a ticket for tonight in the Gresham that you won.

First table standard was quite good. I played really loose because of the rebuy period I wanted to try and get up to 4 or 5 times the starting stack so that I could push the weaker players when I moved.

At my 1st move, just after the top-up, I had 6k. Went to a table with 2 weak monster stacks who'd had 2 black eyes from being so hard in the face by the deck. Standard was very weak at that table. I moved all in with ace high on a 4 to a straight board and one of the big stacks folded showing trips. I showed him my non-flush ace high.

Got up to 16k at this table and was moving along nicely when two plkayers got knocked out and we had to split again. Next table I made a great face up laydown with AK(my only AK of the entire tourney) on an AK86 board. He showed pocket eights. That left me crippled though on 8k with the blinds at 1k/2k. UTG I got A3 and pushed straight away. UTG+1 insta-called and flipped AJ, but a 3 on the flop and I was back up to around average stack.

Stayed around the same stack for the next few levels, keeping afloat with some timely steals. Then the co who seemed decent enough raised my bb for the 3rd orbit in a row. I called with KTsuited. Flop was 9Jx. I pushed and he called with pocket aces. No Q and i was out few places off the bubble.

Good tourney though, part from 1 table where people were pushing all-in for 12k with blinds at 200-400. Ridiculous stuff.

The Prize pool for the event was €7,990.
Boylepoker added another €1650 in the form of Tickets and online credit.
There were about 244 runners altogether with the top 24 getting paid.

The winner was a lad named Roy who's up in the Merrion all the time. Goes to College in Dun Laoighre. He took €2200 plus a €500 ticket. I'll post up some more details soon.

Thanks to everyone who showed up.

    Rob,

Great tourney. Really enjoyed myself. Just one thing. The decks used were terrible. I was on table 1 and we played for an hour with the same deck. I was dealt a king of diamonds and noticed it was marked with ink. Half were of different colour and age. We ended up using a PaddyPower deck some lad brought instead but it was taken off us shortly afterwards. Next time a few decent decks wouldn't go amiss.

Great job on everything else though.

Came fifth myself, got very shortstacked towards the end, the average stack on final table was 110,000 with 15,000 bb, which i thought was ridiculous. but in fairness they did offer to run the final table on a diff night, to let "poker" win out, would have really liked thiis myself, because couldnt get above average stack myself for last 2hrs. well played to the winner, good player and well hosted tournament.
    congrats
