At the moment it's €9 in my local barbers in D15. What's everyone else paying for a short back and sides? A rough idea of location would be useful.

dont pay anymore. Got a razor couple years back for something like €40 or €50 and do it myself. Was paying about a tener before that tho

I don't pay. Bought a razor about a year ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

between £2.50-5 12 years back. Then got a £20 razor, about once a month for 12 years, so you're talking pence! or cent now..

I also dont have those bastards shaving my locks up to the top of my head, that used to drive me crazy, they would do it after specifically asking not to go near them.

Haha, I'm a self cutting man myself. So much handier, I cut it the way I want it, no waiting rooms no saying "yes it's fine" when you think it looks terrible and no throwing away money either. G'wan the razor! Ever 2 months I cut it about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,559 ✭✭✭The tax man

€0.Another razor owner. Number 2 is my number of choice.
When I did pay it was around €10 and that was a couple of years ago, hence the razor purchase.

Lol i own a razer too :) majority of people here do too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,050 ✭✭✭✭murphaph

Seems we have a lot of self cutters here (isn't that a serious mental condition?!). I'd do it myself too but not sure I'd be able to get it right. I might try it though. I get a 2 around the back and sides and a short scissors trim on top-possible to approximate with a razor?

Last time I got a paid for cut it was €10 and that was three yrs back...at an average 5 week interval, that's 300 quid in me sky rocket less €40 for shears...

long hair myself anyway... I usually get someone to cut it short once every year or two. Haven't been to a barbers in longer than I can remember.

I think I paid €30 last time I got my hair cut.

That was in the GPO Arcade.

It's been about a year and a half since my last hair cut though.

I'm think of getting it done this week actually... and I might lose the beard too.

Er... €7.50 I think. My hairdresser has retired though, so I won't be cutting it any time soon. :D

Niente... I cut it myself with a scissors. Why pay €11 for a cut that never looks good when you can cut it yourself the way you want for free.

Because there is a greater risk of you ****ing it up for yourself?

I will be sexist and say most lads know how to use a razor better. Most women havent seen one been used as they only go to hair salons. In a small barbers you can see the techniques they use. Holding ears, comb blending etc. I used to cut lots of lads hair when my mate got a razor. People can be awkward in barbers saying what they want and not wanting to shout out "STOP", I have seen so many sideburns just taken off completely in barbers it is sickening. A skinhead is very simple to do yourself, you cant go wrong really, unless the blade falls off. Shorter the hair the easier it is, and these days there is no stigma or stares to people with skinheads like there was 10 years back.

Some guy wondered about a trim on top. Most barbers go from a 1-4 blade. With many home razors they have a 5-8. I use a 6 on top or sometimes an 8, trick is to have clean dry hair all frizzed up. It can take a bit longer to do a "non-skinhead" but certainly no longer than travelling to a barber and waiting in line for a cut. If it goes wrong, feck it 2 all over :v:

Cnuts! I paid 140 when I got my hair done last. Its 40 just to get it cut.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,570 ✭✭✭Rovi

I think it was £2.50 (in the old money) the last time I paid for a haircut.
Various electric clippers since, using a cordless ceramic bladed job now, #1 (3mm) comb.
Once a month or so, takes 5 minutes.

    .
