Just thinking of this some more.... I think this is the groundwork for ITV's complete takeover of TV3....

i'm finding it hard to understand why guys are upset over this as ITV no longer pay for an EPG placement so it was to be expected that this would happen at some point

if this is the case then why havent they been removed from the uk epg as they are not must carry public service channels? only itv1 comes close to that.

If we get a few cancellations we'll get the "negotiations speeded up" say stuff like the cable companys offering more! -Its a bit ridiculous to have this have cast system! - Its dearer than NTL and it doesn't have Channel 4! -- The output from the terrestrials is very good lately - nice to see they're finally getting their acts together! --

NTL could beat them if they just got a decent developer in on their EPG!

It really is a strange move. I had expected ITV4 not to stay, especially with Champions League games coming up, but ITV3 was less important.

I was more surprised with the Irish Times/HTV article! That WAS very strange!

I guess we'll see some major changes on TV over 2006, especially ITV and (I)TV3.

If ITV end up with sole ownership of TV3, it's quite possible that they'd put an ITV1 region other than UTV (say.. ITV London) and ITV2, 3 and 4 onto the Irish EPG. That would severely scupper UTV's southern expansion plans.

if ITV end up owning TV3 they will prolly rebrand it with the ITV corporate identity just like the other proper ITV channels and just have Irish opt outs for news or local programmes, perhaps naming it ITV1 Ireland. UTV would still be its own seperate region. but that may never happen.

parents rang me up saying wheres ITV 3... its all my dad watched for all those crime drama's and movies and he's well annoyed.

I just waited 20 minutes to talk to a muppet called Scott at Sky's customer service.

I asked him why I had lost 2 of my channels. He asked which ones, and when I replied, he had a prepared statement:

'ITV asked Sky to withdraw ITV3 & ITV4 from the ROI EPG earlier today. Any further queries should be directed to ITV'.

I asked to speak to his supervisor, and he relied that he'd only tell me the exact same thing, as they had lots of calls on the issue.

On a separate note, Ireland on Sundays listing magazine has dropped ITV 2 and ITV3 listings for several weeks, with a note stating 'ITV2 & 3 are no longer able to proved listings'.

Something's rotten in the state of ITV/TV3/UTV..........

What sort of people represent Sky and sales in ROI? Have they any balls (or brains??)

Why are some people blaming Sky for this? Seems like some people want Sky to keep the ITVs on the EPG even though ITV asked for them to be removed. Which would be silly. They are ITVs channels, not Skys. Sky can't arbitrarily decide to keep them after being told to remove them by the owners.

If you wish to complain, complain to ITV.

I'd say these matters are outside the control of Sky's Irish representatives at the moment. The removal probably surprised them as much as everyone else!

Has anyone complained to ITV plc yet?

More people blame Sky, as they are the keyholders to the EPG, and make the distiction between a UK and Irish EPG, which allow ITV to make decisions like this.

I note Men and Motors is still there.

yes this is true but the issue with Sky goes further than this. why isnt the subscription money being spent on providing these channels, the extra bbc's, Channel 4 and so on. Irish viewers are quite simply some extra revenue for Sky and nothing more

If Sky did not charge similar money for EPG placement to costs of Transponder carriage, for something that costs them very little, then more would on on Sky and all BBC & ITV *might* be on it (BBC won't pay a penny)

Sky Pays BBC for BBCNI on ROI epg! They could do same for ITV if it suited them.

maybe they are off the epg for us because arnt the bbc and itv making their own satellite service?

But anyway fook this, i know i have a FTA card but fook this, ive no record now.

I agree, Why does'nt tv3 have a bone to pick with ntl????

sky should just drop tv3 - they dont broadcast in widescreen etc- at least with utv etc you can watch the shows in whatever format you want 4:3 or 16:9

Im gonna ring ITV and TV3 tomorrow too - Ill also send emails to tv3's advertisers registering my disgust! -(sure Im only in work -what else is there to do?)

Just a note itv3 is still on ntl along with bbc 3,4, news 24,etc....

Also ITV4 was supposed to be GRANADA PLUS rebranded! -so now we are now effectively loosing a channel that was in Our channel package.

NDS should be forced to release an official cam that way we could choose what stations we want instead of what someone else wants

I vote we should put Our money together and bid out RTE for the top positions in the program guide - I'd love to see andrew 1, 2,3,4,5 on top (all testcard channels - bet you I'd win the highest share of audiences!)

Well, ITV3 replaced G+, though of course, after ITV4 launched, it was to be the new male-orientated channel from ITV, same as G+ used to be.

Same with my Mum and she's way too old to use the "Other Channels" route.

This development does indeed mean that the possibility of ITV1/UTV and ITV 2 appearing on the Irish EPG will not happen. I m in London with an ROI SKY plus system and was hoping that ITV1-4, channel 4 and Five might one day come to the Irish EPG for SKY Plus functions. But I think this is a long way off. I have DTT (Freeview) here so I think that I will get a Freeview box with a hard drive for recording from UK terrestrials. This is sadly not an option for most people living in Ireland. I wait in hope of the day that all Irish and UK terrestrials are FTA on DSAT.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Why has ITV3 and ITV4 been removed from Sky digital in Ireland?
NTL customers are still recieving their full service? -they even get bbc3,4,news24, world and radio, channel 4 etc.

Im paying more for sky -why aren't you providing a similar if not better service for the money Im paying you?

Much to my dissapointment I'll be getting rid of my dish subscribtion tomorrow (sky+ with multiroom) infavour of NTL.

Sky I suggest If tv3 are causing all the hassle they should be removed from the EPG for opposing competition (ITV or no ITV they would still maintain poor ratings figures purely down to the quality of their broadcasts.)

    Regards,
    Andrew

Is there any overlap between ITV3/ITV4 programming and TV3?

ok this may be a stab in the dark as they say but heres what I think happened. itv plc got legal advice from their lawyers in relation to the tv3 high court case over going fta that if they pulled their channels from sky in the republic and didnt give any listings to the irish times etc then that would be a valid defence ie. they do not broadcast intentionally to the republic via sky ala bbc and overspill etc.

I'd be surprised if ITV1 London appeared on the ROI EPG. Simply because - ITV plc won't want viewers watching Corrie etc on ITV1 London, with ads targetted to Londoners. They'll want viewers watching TV3 with ads targetted to Irish people.

So although ITV2-4 may appear, ITV1 London won't IMHO. ITV1 Ireland might, however...

And another thought - if ITV don't want Irish papers to carry certain TV listings, where does that leave the Northern Ireland edition of the Radio Times (and other TV listings guides) which publishes ITV1 Wales variations? Last time I was in Wexford a few years ago, they had the Welsh Radio Times on sale too.

Maybe ITV weren't aware they were even on the Irish EPG and have just looked at the bill (stranger things have happened).

Until they got the court papers from TeeVeePee and said WhhoooOOOPpps
