How many of you have been to the Eye Cinema in galway and been tortured by that complete fool Hector for about 5 minutes.

He spends ages just telling people not to make noise, not to use your phone and dont throw gum on the ground.

Any other cinema can do it really fast why must they let that spanner go on for ages in the most annoying voice ever.

Im going to throw up a poll here for the craic and see how many people hate him.

    Hector.... 78 votes

should immediately be removed from the screens in the cinema
    1% 1 vote
Havent been there but hate him anyway
    66% 52 votes
Like Hector (Im hoping for 0 votes here)

I like Hector i have to say except for the whole invasion of the personal space thing... makes me cringe when watchin him on tv and the 'hangees' are really uncomfortable.

any kinda cinema advertisement annoys me though so i'd say i'd be oissed esp if its 5 mins long as u say.......

Have never seen this, but I do like Hector!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Well if you don't live in Galway, chances of seeing it are obviously slim, so alot of people wouldn't have seen it.

I go to the Eye cinema maybe once a month, I usually go to the Omniplex in Oranmore, but sometimes Eye have films out earlier, as well as the arthouse which I go to mostly. And even then, once a month is too much of Hector. I mean, the first time you see it, it's not that bad....it's just every time after that, is so incredibly frustrating, and annoying, it makes me hate him so much...

Why don't they change the add every so often?

    Sometimes. :confused::confused:

He is annoying all of the time.

Perhaps this would be better on the Galway city forum?
Since this only applies to a cinema in Galway.
I have to say I havent been to the Eye but have heard a lot of people say how much they hate this part of the experience.
Okay for the first few times but after that its very annoying.

I've been trying to time my entrance to the cinema so that i miss this blithering gimboids latest attempt to make everyone think he's funny. So far, i've failed.

The eye should take a look at the 30 second long message cineworld in dublin has, gets the point across and at no stage does some ginger haired muppet scream "will ya roll it there roisin!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 919 ✭✭✭timeout

Well as is said above its good the first few times you go but it is just a pain there after. It could be alot shorter also and would probably be fine if it was shorter.

i like hector, i like the fact that he pomotes the irish language and can still be quite cool. i'd love to have more irish, it is our native language and alot of people cant even understand it, once we leave school we forget alot of it.

i am discovering this recently, since my daughter strated school and she is taking an interest in the language. she's 4 and has to remind me of some irish words that i've forgotten.

I don't particularly dislike him but I do think that the intro gets very annoying after a few visits to the cinema, and I've seen it a lot more than a few times.

(Im hoping for 0 votes here)+1, because I'm feeling spiteful at the moment.

I don't mind Hector too much but I agree, that ad really goes on for too long and it loses any appeal or comedic value after the first viewing! Lets the style of the place down. That said, i'd still go in there long before i'd ever step inside the comparable dive that is the Omniplex again.

Ah Hector you little ginger tosser.

Maybe it's cultural difference but I honestly have no idea what the guy is on about most of the time. He doesn't bother me that much tho which says something considering you can't go a day without seeing or hearing him somewhere.

However I have to admit he did annoy me in that horseracing ad from a while back (pretty sure it was in cinemas too). What with him popping out from behind a menu (like Bosco made flesh) with a big stupid grin on his face and screeching something out loud that I couldn't for the life of me pick-up. Must have been funny tho as that was met with a chorus of riotous laughter by his pals.

I hate people that laugh at their own jokes.

he is a pain in the arse, about as funny as syphilis. Although....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

Hector is an eejit and he can barely speak Irish tbh.

Also, why does the Eye sell only Pepsi, not Coke? That's a major disadvantage for me! :v:

I way prefer Pepsi! I'm going to see Jarhead tonight, really want to go to the Eye, but two things going against it: 1)Hector, 2) Having to get a cab to Oranmore afterwards.

It's almost worth it just for the Pepsi......and they also sell Club Orange instead of Fanta, which is also miles nicer!

You know, the Hector thing is annoying but the Vodafone one in the IMI Cinemas annoys me just as much tbh.

What's wrong with just a simple:

    "No Smoking

    Turn Mobiles OFF (completely)

Fire exits are here, here and here"

flashed on the screen for 5 seconds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,516 ✭✭✭BrokenArrows

what is wrong with the people who are saying that they like him. Come on, seriously he is a complete tool.

They sell Pepsi because the company offered a better level of service than Coca-Cola Ireland. People would ask for coca-cola out of habit but would take pepsi in its place and never came back saying they didn't like it. Some people might genuinely prefer the taste of coca-cola but a lot of folk don't care either way.
Why don't they change the add every so often?

Because it costs money and as the trailer isn't even a year old yet, it's not going anywhere. The PTB at Eye went with Hector because they wanted something different than what the Omniplex were using and they wanted something unique that would get people talking about the cinema.

Unless the film burns up in a projector or Hector quits the entertainment industry, we're stuck with it for the time being.

I would never take Pepsi. Rotten stuff so I buy my own coke before I go. Their loss.

    OT: Hector sucks!!!!!!!

I am fairly sure Hector is a 'nice' person, but that doesn't change the fact that he is one of the most annoying people on TV.

    *Sillysausage does best Hector Impression
.......... Ahhhh, Hector here, is mise an fear, ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I am mad I am, up the Navan posse, WAYHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY...........*

Well what they're saying is he's an annoying twat. Once he may have promoted Irish but now he's another TG4 to RTE English speaking sell-out who does an ad in the eye cinema.
On another topic, I feel sorry for the projectionist who has to see that every time he rolls a film.
    "Roll it there Roisin..."

I like him, have enjoyed his amú series, but he's really irritating me now with this add. I'm emailing hjis agent at the minute asking her to see what he says.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭Interceptor

I can't stand that annoying ginger b0ll0x and his rowdly-dowdly, horseracing, whisky promoting, skanger-talking attitude. He is an unfunny, yellow-pack version of Tommy Tiernan and he should get a job managing the paint section of Woodies in Athlone so I never have to see him again. In fact he should be tied to that other annoying cvnt, Des-bashing-the-Bishop and thrown into the sea where they can tell 'amusing' stories about how ironic it was to be weighed down by an annoying sack of sh1te and drowned.

    AAAARRRRGGGGHHH.

Now look what you made me do.
