You know, almost everything that I'm looking forward in 2006 are DVD releases. It was ages before I even came up with Silent Hill as something to be released in cinemas that I'm genuinely looking forward to. Although now that someone has reminded me, A Scanner Darkly is one I'll be looking out for definetly, aswell as Slither. But even then, I simply don't go to the cinema that much any more, so I'll probably be waiting for those on DVD more than likely.

What I'm really looking forward to though, are:

    Howl's Moving Castle
    Sympathy For Lady Vengeance
    Crying Fist
    Vital
    The Hidden Blade
    Takeshis'

Aswell as all those Studio Ghibli films that are finally being released, and some re-released, which is about damned time!

    AM looking forward to:

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Johnny Depp as Capt Jack Sparrow again can only promise more fun-filled for a 2 hour viewing. The teaser trailer didn't really do it for me though!

Sin City 2 - looking forward to this mainly as it's got pretty much the same cast and crew from the original. Should be extremely stylish if not good anyways. But it's bound to be good!

Hostel - being one of the many few who thought 'Cabin Fever' was actually a very under-rated and harshly put-down little gem of a movie, i was interesting to see what Eli Roth had next lined up. The trailer is a bit 'Saw'-ish but from advanced reports and reviews from the States, it's a sick and entertaining little film.

Southland Tales - could be potentially the strangest film you'll see this year! From the director / writer of 'Donnie Darko' comes his next directorial effort, 'Southland Tales' with an amazing ensemble cast (The Rock, Seann William Scott, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mandy Moore and Kevin Smith to name just a few). According to IMDB, all we know about is the plot-outline is: "Set in 2008 where a three-day heatwave in Los Angeles culminates in a huge Fourth of July party." and the genre listed for it include Comedy / Musical / Sci-Fi / Thriller. Quite a interesting little film we're in for there!

Clerks II - OK, i'm a huge Kevin Smith fan and after the disaster than was 'Jersey Girl' - it's about time we go back to his classic characters and dialogue that he's good at. So, we're visiting Randall and Dante again. Still not sure about it though.. but if Jeff Anderson puts in even half of a performance as he did in the original 'Clerks', it should be excellent!

Dial V For Vendetta - the more i see of this film, the more i'm looking forward to it. Starring a shaved Natalie Portman and directed by the Wachowski Brother's, it looks like it could be potentially excellent. Now.. watch the excellent Japanese trailer!

Flight 93 - directed by one of the most promising directors of the moment, Paul Greengrass. One of the first films to tell the story of the events of 9-11 from aboard one of the hi-jacked flights. The teaser is quite chilling and gave me goosebumps while watching it. Looking forward to this!

    NOT looking forward to:

Casino Royale - yawn! Sorry but they lost Brosnan who was a smooth mother-<beep>er as Bond. Daniel Craig...? DANIEL... CRAIG? The guy was pathetic in 'Layer Cake' .. never mind stepping into Bond's shoes.

Superman Returns - sorry but the teaser did nothing for me. Even though i typically love Singer's work, this just looks a bit like pretentious twaddle! (ohhhh.. controversial)

Die Hard 4.0 - LEAVE THE CLASSIC TRILOGY BE!!

Cars - Sorry but i'm incredibly sick of the whole Pixar thing. I'm gonna put it on the record now that Pixar will never make another film that near as good as 'Toy Story' - 'The Incredibles' came quite close but doesn't hold up to repeated viewings. Sorry but you won't get me sitting in a cinema screen for 90 minutes listening to an Owen Wilson voiced car!

There's probably a few more but that's all i can think of for now!
