I actually don't remember the first time I had alcohol. I do have a recollection of the first time I got drunk, which is unsuitable for disclosure on this board.

My first ever spirit experience involved Southern Comfort. Used to love it. It fell out with me. I haven't as much as sniffed it in eleven years.

Bulmers was my first drink and i still have a taste for it!

My first spirit would have been bacardi

Bulmers and first spirit was peach snappes, someone thought it'd be a good idea to give me some at a party when i was younger. Ever since its been cider all the way, bulmers when the funds are right.

I was bought my first drink at 18 by my older brother. His birthday was the day after, so he called me out and introduced me to Guinness. I fell in love with it, and the bar I had it in (Sally Long's, Galway). A nice, quiet night with some friends, a good pint of Guinness, good music firmly in the background... It's that kind of mood I try to recreate every time I go out for a drink.

My mother gave me some warm brandy when I was about 6/7 to keep me up for midnight on new years eve.

Spirit was Power's whiskey, beer was Heinikan I think

4 cans of harps lager and was barely able to stand. oh the memories. Must have been about 14 or so. First spirit was vodka. A naggin going to a teenage disco when I was about 15.

j22 be warned, we don't advocate underage drinking on this board. - Majd

Carlsburg, followed by Bulmers - I was finding pints of Carlsburg tough to get through on my first outing so Bulmers was a little easier. Not a fan of either now but I'm impartial to snakebite funnily enough :)

I had a similar experience with Vodka.... Baaaaaad things happened, the thoughts of drinking it no matter how watered down makes me cringe... Oh god the shame of it... :o

My first drink in a pub was a pint of Heinekin in Temple Bar music Centre. First drink I ever had was a can of budweiser in the fields down by Brittas bay.
First spirit was some Smirnoff, which I stole from my parents liquor cabinet.
First time I ever got drunk was off some Miller Pilsner.

Folks, no more "I had my first drink straight out of nappies" on this thread, and if your first drink was cheap lager, check the stickies on this board before you post the brand eh?

Shandy!, when I was young and thought I was a big guy.

First drink i ever had was a bottle of black tower wine , my cousin and i robbed from the press many many moons ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

First drink would have had to have been a cheap lagar to be honest, not the one that has its own sticky in this forum, but a different brand.

My first drink in a pub was a pint of guiness in the Old Stand pub in Limerick on my 18th biirthday. it was my first and last pint of guinness, and I didn't even finnish it.

I think mine was either a drink that rhymes with Gutch Bold (not trying to get banned, just relating to the thread), Carlsberg or Miller. Still going strong on all although I've had a recent passion for Jameson straight up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

The dreg-ends of a bottle of guinness that had a ciggy butt floating in it... which I didn't see because the bottle itself had a heavy brown tint.
Strange how that put me off neither smoking nor guinness so many years later :D:(

no idea, but i do know that the first drink i ordered in a pub was guinness at a much younger age than i am today, and the first time i got ill from alcohol was about 2 hours later that same night...

i think it had a long term effect, as it was about 10 years later that i actually started to drink it on a regular basis.

now, i would class myself as a bitter man......

go on, easy toss ball, hit that one out of the park :)

Toss up between, rolling rock, diamond white, labatt ice or wine. Can't remember all those years ago very well...

First drink I can remember having was either a) an extremely cheap brand of knacker lager already mentioned on this thread, or b) a 50/50 mix of coke & smirnov blue label vodka. I can't remember which I had first - the lager was minging (and it still is!) while the v&c was delicious but left me with my head a) in the sink or b) on my dog's tummy (she was a nice pillow) for most of the evening.

It was a glass of Rose with the parents.

My first drink was a local beer in the town of Monte Video when I was on a rugby trip to Argentina/Uruguay, pretty nice stuff that came in litre bottles, cant for the life of me remember the name of it. :o

The first spirit that I tried was Baccardi, which wasn't very nice at all, I still dont like the taste of it.

Nowadays I have moved onto Guinness, Jagermesiter and european beers. :v:

I think I tasted wine when I was very young at Christmas and thought it was ****ing awful. Still do, havent drank that sh1te since my debs, awful stuff.

Remember downing a shot of whiskey when i was 13, it burned the fcukin pipes off me:D

First time utterly stocious was about 15 at a youth disco, polished off the best part of a 70cl Smirnoff and fell hea first off a bus (before this Id just had the odd can or two and got slightly tipsy, I wasnt mad into drinking till I was 15 or 16)

Now Im a lean mean drinkin machine. Despite my 10 stone frame it takes a good amount to topple me (afaik Ive never fallen asleep in public drunk, which is good)

Mine was also Ritz. Strange, eh?

Sherry. When I was 9 and it was during the school holidays my Mum went out for a short walk. When she returned I was sitting down reading the newspaper (lol) having a rather generous glass of sherry which I'd poured myself. She asked me what the hell I thought I was doing and I answered her haughtily "I fancied a drink...." :D Much shouting and "you just wait until your Father gets home" threats later I was forced to admit defeat and pour said sherry down sink. Gutted. Haven't drank it since....

I must say the first drink i ever had was Budweiser, but i moved to Bulmers, but i find after 3 pints of the stuff i get sick of it, i had Guinness the odd time, i may get into drinking it again.
First spirit i ever had was Whiskey

Showing my age a bit here, but the first drink I had was Harp - the old style stubby half-pint bottles that were in six packs back then. This was at a time when Heineken was almost considered exotic because it was that bit dearer than Harp! Had several bottles and lost all feeling in my head, but the rest of me seemed OK. Rather strange sensation.

mine was Scrumpy Jack - the classy bird that I am!!
First drink in a pub was bulmers, but could never really get into cider or pints of beer... so I went onto peach schnapps and all other things sweet, eg brezeers, woodies, corkies, smirnoff ice's for a few years, now.... I'm a vodka and diet coke girl.
