Really?, the psu cost over a hundred back in the day. I figure that i'd be happy to get 1250 for the machine - do you think there's any hope?

Didn't wanna create a new thread for this. Just want some opinions on which computer I should choose and if their worth it.

    Intel Pentium 4
    3.0 GHz 64Bit HT
    2MB cache '630'

    Soundcard 5.1 on board - 6 channel
10/100 Network card - DSL Ready
    Strong, quiet 400W Power supply
    6x USB 2.0
    Comes in at €530.
    3700+ AMD 64
    'San Diego'
    So.939/1000MHz FSB/1MB cache

    ASRock 939 Dual-SATA2 Motherboard
    ASUS GeForce 6200 PCI-E TV-out & DVI

    Superquiet Spire So.939 CPU cooler

u might benifit from HT with the apps you are using, so the intel system might be more up your alley.

    Chieftec Dragon case
Abit NF7 (socket A, non sata)
    Athlon 2500+, happily running as a 3200+
    Gainward 6600GT agp
    1GB of pc3200 memory (twinmos)
    NEC3500a dvd writer
    17" Hansol CRT

Not quite sure what to do about hard drives and OS, seeing as i'll be taking the current hard drives out of it... i have 2 spare 40GB hard drives that i could throw into it. but i could only offer it with the linux distro of choice...
i may consider leaving the 160gb WD caviar HD in it

would appreciate any input as to how much it's worth :)

if a pc is overclockable it doesnt always add value, as the buyer might not want to overclock @ all, depends on who wants to buy it. Doesnt apply to systems as old as the one u posted ;)

Damn. I currently have 4x256 ddr2 4200 and really looking for something like 2x512, or 1x1gb so that I can bring it up to 1.5 or 2gb.....it's fairly expensive new so second hand would be ideal .

Any ideas on the cheapest place to pick up some new?
