We allow the odd hop here and there but jumping around like a maniac is a sure fire way to get you booted.

Yes its a COD forum but if you think you can have a dig at our server when ever you feel like it your sadly mistaken MR moderator.
If you knew anything about servers you would know there are proper routes to take if your unhappy about a kick or ban.
Crying about it on a public forum wont win you any admirers.
I suggest you carry out your complaint in the proper manner.

If there's a wall or something I'll use that as a protection but if I'm out in the open you can bet your ass I'm going to jump, crouch, lie down, go left, right, etc... Anything to make it hard for the enemy to kill me!
Bunny hopping is jumping non-stop all over the map for no reason except not getting shot. I don't do that. I just jump (once, maybe twice if it's a long battle) when somebody sneeks up on me and starts shooting at me. Again, what are we to do on the [G.F.F] server? Stand still to make it easy for you? Pfff...

I just connected to your server to say "hi" and have a quick game, just like the good old days on the UO server. Somehow I've become a bunny hopper overnight and you guys kicked me... I have to agree with Steff, I play cod, thankfully not on your servers but jumping around I think is ok. The aim of the game to kill and not be killed. Jumping around makes it harder for snipers to pick you off or if there is 3 on one.

I wouldn't exactly say its an exploit either as its not beyond the parameters of the code.

I think the big problem here is that the [G.F.F] guys and I don't have the same definition of the term "bunny hopping". That is the way I see it anyway...
If I jump in a 1v1 combat and kill the guy doing so, they'll think I'm bunny hopping. So I tell myself: "make sure you stay on your server then cos that's what EVERYBODY does EVERYWHERE ELSE!".

What I really struggle to understand is why I never had this problem on the UO server...

Also, EVERYBODY does not do it. We have 40 odd members and I dont think any of them bunnyhop at all.

As a matter of interest, did you bunnyhop like that in singleplayer? Did the germans bunnyhop in SP?

Question regarding your server as a relatively n00b to online gaming.

I'm gonna take the IP down and give it a bash this evening, but do you have the restriction regarding pings on this server? I'm using dial up and my download speed is around the 10kb/s mark which is grand for playing on certain servers. My ping usually hangs around the 180/200 mark, and while i have no problem getting a high frag count, some servers don't let me or sometimes i have other players asking me to move along to another server because of the ping, despite not having lag.

Are dial up users that much of a hinderence to ye dsl users?

People with 200/300ms pings don't really bother me as long as they don't lad like hell... I hate it when players jus disappear for a second then reappear 10 feet away from where you saw them last! That's just annoying...

ok here we go i signed up esspicially just for this i mean im hard to annoy but this just rocks the boat, we as GFF members standing for GUNS FOR FUN is a FUN clan we play for a laugh, jumping around isant fun and it has been decided to be banned through GFF again it is our server so why not.

again you say stand still and let them shoot you well ill tell you something if you see me on our server ull see i am #1 a high majority of times or very close to it, i have been playing since the original COD and played games before that are much alike and i must admit when i used to play for #1 clans i used any means necacery to kill the target but that got too political and boring hence why i joined GFF, now if you watch me play i dont jump to kill or defend if i die i die ow wel its a game i respawn right and what does it matter if you reach top or not its a game, were all here to have fun and the way i see it is GFF have made a rule to enjoy it the way they want it i mean again there are god knows how many servers running different types of games.

we run something else different to others the way WE as a clan [G.F.F] like it and thats the way its staying now unless ppl can learn to play without hopping or whatever then to be honest i dont have the time of day for them but if you dont mind having FUN no matter what your score then hey we dont mind i mean i even sometimes run around the map with a pistol just to make things different and steph u should try having some fun and lighten up once in a while it will do you a world of good because by the looks of it your moaning about rules the payers of the server set up and ur not gunna win so play by our rules or dont play with us at all, speaking for myself i really dont care who you are or how good you are but tbh i dont really wanna play with people such as urself your too worried about how your going to win and not how your going to enjoy the night / dayi dont know if im being too harsh but its the way i feel and everyone is entitled to say what they think? or am i wrong wel anyways if you can sort it out iquess ill see you server side

Yeh, it was grand. When i first went on my ping was about 270 or so with there been 10-12 players. By the last game of HQ in Caen i was around the 200 mark cause there was fewer players. Even managed to cap Cully a couple of times .

There seems to be quiet a high standard of players, especially with the long range rifle shots and the odd sniper. The M1 Garand would be my own personal weapon of choice but that's probably cause i've watched Band of Brothers too often .

The reason i ask is i used to play no hassle on isdn and run teamspeak.

Its pure 56k but i use a payed account from Eircom which i reckon makes the difference. With IOL free i get 6kb/s but with Eircom i'm getting 12kb/s . Can't explain it, but it suits me until i get broadband.

Teamspeak is talking with a mic etc.? Don't have one myself, but it does work all right. I have had it disabled, but i'll turn it on next time out.

OK this is a REALLY SILLY QUESTION. How do I find your server? I know the IP but where the hell do I enter it in COD to connect?

I can obviously get the list of servers up and I usually just connect to the lowest ping which has a decent number of people on it. What name does the server appear as?

Please feel free to tell me to RTFM if needs be and I will go search for it.
I am probably missing something really obvious but I couldnt see any option for entering a specific server address when I last went looking for it.

In fairness i was the same at first.

Click on the source option which will rotate between LOCAL -> INTERNET -> FAVORITES . In favorites theres an option to add new favorite, enter the server name G.F.F. (doesn't have to be exact), then enter the IP address as 195.242.236.40:28960

/connect 195.242.236.40:28960

OR, and I really believe this to be the best option, download the All Seeing Eye. Perfect for finding/filtering servers, adding favourites, etc etc...

Got CoD2 yesterday and was waiting to come online to join the GFF server. problem is when I went into the Join menu first of all took ages to get any servers into the list.

So I went into Favorites and added in a favorite. Tried to enter in the IP of the GFF server and spent about 20 mins trying to enter it, when I got past the firts digit and then . once I started to enter in the digits again it would just keep over writing, this pi**ed me off no end but after 20 mins got it all entered in, click ok and nothing, wasn't listed in favorites or nothing. Am I doing something wrong? or is ASE working with CoD2 now. The in game browser is terrible. The ingame browser in BF2 is 10 times better

Just add your fav servers ip for most games in there and you can monitor them in realtime,none of this refresh list crapology.
Used it for years.
I use ASE to find servers and any favs i just add to hlsw.
Also a great way to admin several servers at once with rcon.
