I started a thread in humour a good while back and it didn't get a single response even though it was one of the funniest things i'd ever read. Since then i haven't started any :(

    I rarely start threads
I start threads sometimes; if I have something to ask, I do so... if nobody responds, oh well... there's always another thread....

I start a good few. Not too many though.

I start them if they're relevant to the forum eg. A new play in the Theatre/Performing Arts forum or somethnig ninja-y/pirate-y/Zomby-ish in LUBNiP.

    I never start threads
Half the time I can't even be arsed posting a reply let alone a new thread.
    bleh
I think 4.06 posts a day would disagree with that statement

Your feeble logic is based on foolish assumption.
If I only bother replying half the time, then the fact that I have 4.06 posts-per-day instead of a theoretical "can-always-be-arsed" 8.12 post-per-day completely supports my statement.
Your attempt at being witty and cutting has failed.
    You lose -12 I-aer-teh-clever points.

How was Karl Hungus allowed to get three votes?

    I start threads sometimes

It's a multiple option poll. The poll creator gets the choice of making a poll multiple or one answer only. :v:

I post threads here sometimes. I also use other boards, where there are smaller numbers of people and where you get to know people better and it is easy to start threads in those types of Boards.

Me too, which is probably why I post there and not here as much.

    I rarely start threads
I start threads if there's something I've been thinking about that I'd like to hear other people's views on, or if I come across a viewpoint in Real Life ™ that I just don't understand the thinking behind or if Google doesn't answer my question when I've a problem, Boards.ie would be my second port of call...

    I fear starting threads
In my time here I think I've only started a handful of threads. Usually in the bands/musicians forums looking for people for my band. Can't remember the last thread I started outside that forum actually

I've started a couple of threads since casting my vote. Needless to say they died quickly :(

I think After Hours is the forum where you're most likely to get unhelpful replies to posts. My theory suggests, similar to a mexican wave, that the first 7 posters comments can make or break a thread. It's dangerous.

Good point. I would also imagine the time a thread is posted makes a difference.

No, AH is the place you're most likely to get people starting threads that are rubbish. It's depressing. If only people thought for a minute or two before posting something like "OMG WATS TEH [insert adjective]-EST [insert song/action/sexual act] YOU EVER [insert verb, past]!!!!!???!?!?!!!?"...

But no. Too many people are too busy drowning in a sea of LOL.

Oh ffs.. those who are giving out about pointless threads..
    have a day off.

After hours is a very generalised thread. People can post things that shock them, make them laugh /but mightnt be suited to jokes dept, day to day stuff, curiosity etc like the know your nerds thread..

I was appalled at what I saw on sky news, so I made a new thread about that to see what others thought. at best its a 'sounding out' board for people here. and ffs, sometimes just out of interest /fun.

Thread killers are miserable c*nts. they scare others away from creating threads, which may be good & interesting ones.

Started a few threads in my time, its a lot harder than one would think. Many threads posted up in After Hours are really bad, and you can tell the person has just not thunk it through.

PS: Google is your Friend, he loves you very much :v: .
