Seeing as its nearly christmas and nearly time when the big tins of roses get broken out, I thought I would ask the question

Which cadbury's roses sweets ended up making the dog have a happy christmas?

Personally it was them half round ones with the orange and strawberry cream in them.

I could eat hundreds of the coffee ones and the little dairy milk and borneville ones though.

despite my surname (people who know me can vouch for this) i cant stand the coffe ones, they just make me pull a face "BLEURGH"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

coffee or orange. they just shouldn't be in there at all.

although my mum was mad for both, so it worked out okay for everyone in the end.

    Any with nuts and coffee.
Coffee are the worst though, especially when you're going by shape and not looking, you think it's a strawberry only for it to be coffee. Ugh.
O/T coffee icecream is horrible too, I dunno how anyone could eat it. Coffee cake too.

    Coffee Creams of course.

But nowadays since I've become addicted to àctual drink coffee itself I find the 'Turkish delights'/'strawberry' to be the least palatable of all.

    //

On a related note did anyone else ever play 'russian roulette' with Revels? Revels looked like maltesers but came 5 diff flavours and the loser would be the first to pick a coffee flavoured one out of the bag and eat it.

personally I would rather play russian roulette with a loaded handgun.

I take it so that its mostly the ones with the goo in them made people gag the most.

Loved them all, especially the coffees ones. Although mixed smell of all the flavours makes me gag a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 617 ✭✭✭telecinesk

That reminds me of the competition I used to do with my sister. We used to get all the coffee and Orange creams and see who could down the most within a minute.
Or who could gag the best!

    Orange and strawberry - yuck!

I liked the Coffee ones even if they wouldn't be my first choice.

I loved the mini chocolate bar ones and the hazlenut twirls!

Although anyone who thinks Roses are still a good present ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

I'd buy a box for someone if I didn't really want to buy them a present but felt I had to .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,437 ✭✭✭Crucifix

    Coffee creams.
Ahh, I remember one of my sister's friends had a family of Strawberry and Orange cream haters, and so after christmas she'd give me a big bag full of 'em.

    them bloody triangle one's....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,084 ✭✭✭✭Stark

Never cared for those coffee ones. The rest were lovely (I wasn't adventurous enough to try the strawberry/orange ones though, these days I love them).

The new roses are pretty much all mank IMO.

(PS: Nice one boycotting the Chocolate forum with this one :p)

Oh while we're on this topic, was it only in my family that people still called them "Irish Roses" years after they started importing them from England?

No my family did as well.

Turkish clearly. Forged by Lucifer himself. It's like eating solid perfume.

Strawberry cream and orange cream ones aren't great though when you've already had a lot.

those fookin coffee ones...urghhh! my relations used to give them to me for a laugh until i spat them up on a lovely white wollen jumper of one of my aunts. that thought the fookers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,187 ✭✭✭GeorgeBailey

What about cocoanut? Bloody hated them. LOVED orange and coffee!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭aidan_dunne

Funnily enough, I used to love (and still do) the coffee and strawberry creams. They'd always be the very first ones I'd go for. Also love those hazelnut-in-caramel-wrapped-in-chocolate ones that come in a purple wrapper. Used to never like the caramel barrel-type ones but I don't mind them too much these days. I guess my tastes have become more sophisticated over the years! :D

Mmmmmm, me can't wait for Christmas and the diving-into-the-tin-of-Roses that will take place! ;)
