Ordered freesat card for Ireland

I just ordered a freesat card from these guys. I will let you know how I get on with it .They say the card will be activated and I don't need to call Sky .

However, would it not have been wiser to see what's going to happen with ITV on the 20th November [ as per other threads on here ] ? Unless of course its Channel4 that you are particularly interested in.

After reading the website all seems as it should, but there's just something about it and for €75 approx for the card it seems reasonable compared to ebay,

Anyone try calling the telephone number?

It works out at €28.66 for card and €71.65 for Uk address
not bad concidering some charge €150 to €200
Im going to hold out to see what way ITV go on the 20th of this month.

Freesat card arrived this morning (with Irish post mark on envelope..) . A note came with it saying the card was already activated and to put the card in the slot . It said if there are no pictures after 2 hours to call them.
I inserted the card in the box and had pictures straight away.
Now what's on Channel 5 tonight

Can you check and see if the card works in another digibox and also can you give me the first 3 digits of the card number.
Supposely with these new cards they are suppose to lock to the first box they are put into, whereas all previous cards to these can be viewed in any digibox.
I would be interested to know if you actually got an old type card or one of the new freesat cards. If my memory serves me right the £23.50 card from this time last year start with 200's

The number on the card starts with 221 the phone number on the card is 0870 850 0033 . Yes I tried it on an old box I had in the shed and it didn't work so I did a backup with the button on the front of the box and when it rebooted it worked fine!. I'm delighted now. I might get some more for christmas presents

I bought one of the £23.50 FTV v2 cards back in Ocober last year and it's still working ok... seems to need reactivation (so far leaving it in the box for a few hours is working) quite a bit lately... should I be getting worried?

I also bought an FTV card directly from sky last year for 23.50 using a UK address and phone number and it has worked flawlessly since. My card has it's own dedicated box though so it always gets updates straight away. Other people I know who got them are finding that the card is missing updates more often than before, but my advise is just get a dedicated box for the card and then you will not have any problems. With the new Freesat, I cannot understand why people aren't getting them directly from sky. Any other crowd are just ripping people off, everyone know's someone who know's someone in the UK so getting a UK address does not require much work and saves a lot of hassle if anything goes wrong because you know exactly the UK address the card is from so any problems you can ring sky directly and get them sorted out, hiding your phone number obviously.

You will receive on the epg
101 BBC 1
102 BBBC 2
103 ITV
104 Channel 4
105 Five
It will also put all regions of BBC's channels up in the nine hundreds end of the epg. It will also put ITV 2 on the epg but you need a UK sub to receive that channel. The cost is £20 sterling but you do need a uk address. If you know some body over in the uk get them to order it for you as some sites are chargeing extra to supply address for you. If you have a irish sub you will have to keep swapping your card around.

So I have a digibox at home at the mo, it has not been used for over a year now and the card on it has been stopped.
If I get a dish and hook them up, then get someone in the UK to get the card for me then when I put it in my box here I will get them channels???

Another daft question but can they order on the website or do they need to ring up?? If they already have sky in their house what do they say to the person who they are talking to???
What is the name of the card they arte looking for and why would they want the card if they already have sky??

Ok I'm still confused Why do you need a UK address if you can buy the cards from the shops in England?
Mi idea is to buy the card for £20.00 from a shop get it sent over here and then swap it with my viewing card here Will that work?

I dont think you can just walk in to a shop buy a card. You have to order from Sky direct and they say you need to live in the uk.

Best bet is to ring them on that number you have and see what they say.
But according to this site http://www.freesatfromsky.com/ in t & c section it states you must live in the uk. I see your right regarding buying it from the stores you said. But you still have to have uk address. You could get some one who lives over there to get it for you and get them to post it to you.

0044870 8500033 Remember when dialing to withhold your number sending on your phone.

20 quid each - getting them sent to a friend in the uk and I will collect them next week when I visit.

I was told over the phone that they should arrive already active - should last 3 years - replacement cards due to faults etc are free within the 3 years. After 3 years sky hold the right to withdraw current cards access to the freeview network meaning that you will have to pay 20 quid again if you want another.

I ordered on these cards to be sent to a relative in London,

Card was ordered a week ago and yesterday they got a letter saying card will sent out in 8 days time, So the Delivery time is about 2 weeks.

On a slightly different note regarding the new cards. If they last 3 years that must mean the last cards(yellow House) issued which was in mid 2003 will have lasted for 4-5 years by the time cards are changed again. That seems unusually lengthy period of time.

I take it there was no problem with using an Irish credit card then? Sky certainly seem to have some issues with Irish credit cards - I got a new one and they wouldn't let me update the expiry date details over the phone - they would only accept it in writing. They told me that if it was a uk one I could have sorted it over the phone.

Didnt seem to be a problem - and she said that payment went thru sucessful time will tell - will be happy once I get cards
