AFAIK those numbers do be dead busy, and they're charged at like £1.50 per minute..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭Farls

the site you get the results is http://www.examinations.ie , i haven't looked into it much yet but AFAIK you need your examination number and another pin number which was on that sheet that you were given...also i have the sheet here beside me and just reading thru it it states that if you loose your pin number you will not be supplied with a new one...Basta*ds... if its any addition to you the fone number you ring is 1530 719 290 and its 25p a min!

you need your pin number for these things tho by the looks of it along with your examination number so looks like your going to have to go into your school and collect your results OR you could just wait an extra day or two for them to be posted to your house and your parents can collect them...tough situation mate!

If theres a suicide cult on please put up a post i'm sure i'd have the credentials to join come wednesday!

Leaving Cert. day is great....if you've passed and most importantly got what you wanted (had your heart set on more to the point).

Its also so good this is my second time doing it so i can't afford for it to be a bad day!...altho having said that i found the physics paper (higher) very hard when i done it in June.

How many ppl excactly on this board are awaiting the results and if theres a **** up where abouts is it going on?...hehe

I'm awaiting my results... But I never got this mysterious piece of paper with a pin number on it at any stage. Gah, guess I'll be heading into the school (for the last time, wh00t) on Wednesday morning then.

Lads don't get yourself worked up over the leaving cert.

    Remember

If you really have to repeat a year is not that long.

There are backdoors into every course in the country.

Nothing is as bad as it seems.

Don't delay opening the envolope just rip it open and look. If you delay you will just overbuild it.

and at the and of the day it's not how many points you get it's how drunk you get after that all that really ever counts.

    Enjoy it lads tongue.gif

I'm glad I've got mine over with by a few years! The ****up afterwards is one of the best you'll ever have.

Then Gardaí are saying that they are having a hugh clampdown on underage drinking for the Day so it might be harder than in previous years.

You've used your luckn now it's time to live with the consequences!

Lads I have to say don't get all worked up over the results. I did my Leaving a good few years ago, and I actually failed it. I couldn't be bothered repeating it and did a sales course. I eventually did a cousre out in Loughlinstown for PC maintenance and Networks and am now a Project Manager with a large IT company in Europe earning big moolah!! biggrin.gif

It all boils down to a bit of cop-on and if you can prove you can do a job it beats the pants out of a piece of paper IMHO.

Best of luck to you all..

not afraid at all of the old results which is scarey in its-self. weird maybe it will hit later on but then again never hit when i was doing the tests.

I remember lc results day, i was a smartass and thought it would be cool to meet up with another smart ass and arrive in the afternoon.
So i didn't sleep the night before (sneeked out the back garden for a couple of smokes..which my parents didn't know i did)..and never slept.

Being a wise ass i managed to make it to daylight, hopped on my cycle and pedelled like mad to school, the other arrogant b'tard was already there, lmao..ahh the memories.
Good luck ppl, its the most stressful thing ever you will probably do( ie wait), my sympathies go out to ye, just enjoy the night after..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,275 ✭✭✭Shinji

Cliched but true: in the long run, this doesn't matter a damn. I did my leaving cert two years ago, and can quite genuinely only remember one result (my A in English, I was quite proud of that. It's the only result I have on my CV too, since I doubt any employers would CARE about what a journalist got in leaving cert physics).

I didn't even bother collecting the results actually. I would have had to take a day off work to do so, which would have been a pain in the behind - got my dad to ring me to tell me how I did, shrugged and went back to work. I did go for "a few" beers later mind smile.gif

Anyone genuinely shítting bricks over this has been taken in by the ludicrous pressure applied on people by the media, parents and teachers. Teachers who give students the whole "most important thing you'll ever do" spiel need to be brought out and shot for massively damaging misinformation.

Ah, even though I did my leaving cert last year I have to watch the cao points/offers like a hawk, I have a 20 point gap but my fear is the correcters will bend over backwards to accomodate this years students thus shafting me in my college application. Day of my leaving cert results was a laugh indeed, regardless of results most people were in the best of form.

Good luck to the lot of yez, if you lose me my place and force me to go to dublin ill come after ya biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

I repeated so its Fooking massive important i do ok!...from what i can mind of last year the results will b in schools ready for opening around 10am and they'll be on the net at 12pm. The net wasn't an option last year.

1800 26 51 65 is the number to ring if you want advice or anything its free also and i dont want to give EIRCON a plug here but it has to b said.

have to agree with the comment about teachers who tell you its the biggest thing in your life ever should be shot...my ideas for tomorrow is....check out the score on the net see how i done...if i done anything respectable i'll go into the school and b the bad bast*rd they spent the last 6 years making me out to be!

    good luck ppl

I did pretty crap on the LC myself and was gonna repeat, but I noticed a course in Castlebar that I already had the points for (it was sub 200 the year before I applied smile.gif ).

Funny enough, it was a computing course, and there was me never having used a PC before in my life... smile.gif

I remember some muppet working in a computer shop somewhere advising me not to do the course .... what a muppet smile.gif

Anyways I did well in college after all that... (though I did repeat the LC English exam which I had failed, just to have the pass)

So go get pi$$ed, get your gf pi$$ed, and then introduce me. smile.gif

Got nearly twice as many points as i needed but i fluffed hons maths and got an 'e'in process in gettin that checked, dang.

Afaik, hons maths isnt the be all and end all of college, if it was you would see only 20 % of secondary pupils go to college.

Why waste your year doing maths alone? If you have to do why not take your best offer, do maths concurently and just "redo" first year next year. I know it could cost you but it leaves your doors open to the following options

    1) You may absolutely love your second choice and not wanna go back.

    2) You may hate your second choice, pass honours maths, return to your first choice next year and have a year of college life/ education already built up (might make your second first year alot easier smile.gif)

    3) You take a plc in the chance that you may go on to college

    Good luck in your choice
/me anxiously waiting for my offer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭Spunog UIE

yup thats what i'm thinking. but i don't think i've got any college choices asssss, maths is a min requirment, ya? What i'm askin is, is maths a min requirment for all colleges, this is something i have presumed.

Anyhew i think i will just do a plc or something and do maths as well in my spare time. Then resit the maths paper and reapply to cao next year. Is that what you were saying it got a bit muddled when i was readin it.

    Gideon.

maths isnt essential to get into a course like arts in ucd/ucc/nuig

you can do a few other courses w/o maths too.. cant remember them off the top of my head but check the ucd website maybe..
you need maths for dcu and tcd though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 935 ✭✭✭Mixie

I screwed up my hons leaving cert maths exam a year ago. I couldn't find a single computer degree course that didn't require it, so I ended up doing a computer science PLC and repeating maths (now pass lvl) in the evening. Now that I've got my maths I have a number of choices - the PLC links directly to a CS degree course, I can enter with previous years points & this years new maths result, or through advanced entry (not sure if its 'advanced' entry?).

I was pretty worried about it a year ago, but basically I got the course I wanted and it only tacked on 1 extra year.
