Mx1000

i currently got a cheap optical 250dpi Trust mouse...its ok i guess, cost me about £14 a year or so back, paints getting a bit warn ..plastic makes my hand sweat after a few hours intense online gaming which gets quite annoying when im in a cup or something that goes to a decider which can last a good while ;)

now ive just seen the mx1000 on overclockers for £46

800dpi sounds a lot better than my 250dpi (i guess it would be noticeable?)

and the fact its wireless ( ive been put off wireless since i bought a £10 wireless thing a while back and it just laggy..and crap) but i like the wireless idea with the charger..

and of course its laser...which sounds way better than an led :p

all in all...if i just "found" £46 would it be worth buying do you think, i need precise really for some online UT2004 instagib gameage  ..and im hoping this will be a lot better than my current ..thing

anyone upgraded to this from a lesser optical? whats the difference like?

Logitech really do make the best mice.

Anything from the mx510 upwards and your sorted. Very comfortable, nice weight and responsive with a nice button layout.

Seriously even if you just get an mx510 you would be very impressed. Get a smooth mouse mat to go with it and your gaming performance will go right up.

I'm thinking of getting it too soon Viper :)

[Edit]Anyone knows where to get it here in Ireland or the only way is to get it through online? I'd wish they make the MX1000 with a keyboard but I cant wait LOL[/Edit]

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

mouse mat..i was under the impression you didnt need 1 for opticals ..and upwards i guess, ive been using my current mouse just on my like..desk thingy the keyboard tray that slides out...dont tell me i would have been better with a mouse all along!

from what ive seen....to get a better mouse than the one ive got id be talking £25+ anyways, if im gonna get 1 i may as well just go right up and get 1 of these cool looking new ones

let me know how it goes if you find 1 neo, im already in **** with my uni loan, it wouldnt be hard just to take out £50 and buy it right now, question is would i make it till my next installment of cash  ..so it may be a while before i can realllly afford it

about the keyboard a set would be sweet, but tbh i dont think id pay the price of both, im quite happy with my black and silver trust keyboard anyway , just a better quality mouse wouldnt go a miss..

Went to Compustore near Stephen Green and couldnt find the mouse. Jes are out of stock. Komplett are selling them more expensive than the rest of them. Anyone knows how much the shipping charges from Overclockers are going to be?

Sweet dude. I'm going to order mine in a day or two. How much is the shipping charges from overclockers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

8 GB pounds if you order one thing.

22 GB pounds if you order more than three items i think.

The mouse is of the primary interfaces you have with the computer. To me its one of the most important parts of the whole PC. I love logitech mice and have two of their dual optical mice. I think you need to use a mouse mat, both for response and the resistance against your hand. As its about tactile responses, not dry facts and figures.

What size is the wirelss dongle on this MX1000? Too big for a laptop bag?

    overclock.co.uk (not overclockerS.co.uk)

have a black version if you are interested in color!

also, for gaming that mouse will be heavy!

I still think that the best gaming mouse is MX310!

mousemat...wont any old mat do, im not expected to pay like £25 for 1 of them rather swish ones am i?...hell i didnt have the money for the mouse let alone another mat, its my thermaltake mouse mat i got free with my last case..or bugger all! i cant afford out else!

Your a noob the mx510 is way better.

As for mats some people prefer textured surfaces, others prefer smooth but if you take any first person shooter seriously a decent mouse and mat is essential.

Overclocker doesnt have them in stock and from the looks of it, they dont even know when they will.

Just ordered mine. Shipping is by RoyalMail. How long will it usually reach me and how do I know when it is coming?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,560 ✭✭✭Woden

hmm i'm sorry i didn't see this thread earlier. this mouse is not necessarly the way forward for gaming.

google mx1000 and delay issues or activation issues

with a number of this mice when you lift them off the mat as you do when gaming then put them back down there is a noticeable latency before it gets moving again. people are speculating whether it is the laser coming back on or whether it goes into a power saving mode. i saw some videos of it and its quite noticeable when compared to the mx700

logitech are aware of the issue but ain't necessarily doing anything about it calling it a feature of the mouse

    data

    Dataisgod, Thanks dude!

Neo, it should probably arrive in 3-4 days, 5 at worst!

whoever you ordered from they should have provided you with a tracking number, but some companies don't! you can ask for it though, but if you have a reciept number, I wouldn't worry about it!

now im trying to defend myself now coz ive just blown £46 on a mouse i didnt need and now im getting told its not so great...

but why would you lift the mouse off the surface??

ive been playing UT..either 03/04 practically everyday since they came out, and i dont recall taking the mouse off the surface...

well i dunno we will see, 1 of my mates in my clan has upgraded from..an mx510 or something and he says this one is a LOT better for UT so..god knows, we shall see

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,560 ✭✭✭Woden

depends on your style of play i suppose and what sensitivity you like i find my style leads to me lifting the mouse quite a bit.

i don't like being the bearer of bad news and if you look at the stuff above you'll see that not everyone one has the issue.

however it was enough to put me off until i hear about a fix. the only reason i found it was that i was looking around for a new mouse as well to replace my wireless optical jobbie and i can't see myself going back to a wired and that wrote the mx510 off. then i found out about this and i thought great read a few reviews all was going well til this turned up.

so i've kept an eye on the situation since but no change as fair as i can tell

    data

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

well if theres only an issue with taking the mouse off the surface, i will be fine then coz yeh i never lift the mouse off...phew

anyways ill be able to judge myself , should be here tomorrow morning :D

cant be worse than this 250dpi thing.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I have it and haven't had any problems with it... whatsoever.
I wouldn't worry about it Viper it's a good mouse, hardly ever needs charging and has handy LEDs that indicate when it's running low.

    :D

that was the sort of response i was looking for, i was expecting a lot of people to start replying saying, "yeh ive encountered that little bug too..its damn annoying!"

etc etc..i know my luck ;)

it better be good! my £14 mouse now, i was practically outraged at spending that much on a mouse back then! all my previous ones was £3 jobs..

mind u ive come a long way in a year, from an xp2000 ..and a boring plain white case..and a gf4

im moving up in the world! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

it came! its plugged in!..and its bloody great! ..reallly sensitive, its gonna take a bit of getting use to but its reallllly smooth and ..basically i love it :D

..ive tried lifting the mouse up and down and whatever ..but there doesnt appear to be any sort of lag whatsoever :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,560 ✭✭✭Woden

    glad to here that vipervenom

    /me reconsides buying it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

Lucky for you Viper. Mine came to Dublin today but not shipped out. Have to wait to Tuesday :(
    Cant wait lol :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,264 ✭✭✭RicardoSmith

I very rarely lift a mouse. Seems like a novice thing to do. But then I'm not a hardcore gamer. So who knows!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

well i now suck at ut2004

id got rather good with my little 250dpi'er now im bloody awful with this

its so damn touchy its gonna take time to adjust, but its really nice, i just need to get use to it, and due to me moving my mouse around stupidly coz im moving it too much, i now appear to be lifting the mouse off the desk a few times..which doesnt usuallllly happen..im not sure if there was a hint of lag for a split millisecond or its just im not use to it yet, still its great!

and it came full charged, which i didnt actually expect  ..the 3 little battery lights to saw how full it is, when you dont move it these go off..it like goes into power saving mode and everything lol, its bloody advanced

well my opti mouse is broke and I ordered one of these yesterday so im looking forward to it... from what I hear there is no wireless issue with this mouse and it really it supposedly the coolest and best mousey ever.... now if it would just arrive id be happier cos its kinda hard to play games with no left mouse button as im currently experiencing :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

its too sensitive for me so ive had to turn it down ..which involves me picking up the mouse to reposition..and yep i get the lag effect

    o...m...g

im outraged!, i spent £14 for a mouse which has been great for well over a year, ok it wasnt the smoothest of things but at least it did what i wanted!

i like all the extra features of these..but why in gods name does the laser turn off when you pick it up!...jesus stick a label on warning people you can see it and leave the damn thing on..if someone ..blinds themself thats there problem!

    (rant mode)

i sense unless there any sort of firmware fix for this im gonna be getting in touch with overclockers!...i dont think ill even buy a new mouse i just want a refund or buy something else from them.....

*cries and hunts down some sort of ..fix*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,334 ✭✭✭OfflerCrocGod

Turn down the mouse sensitivity in the game options.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,264 ✭✭✭RicardoSmith

It will take a week or two to get used to new mice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,558 ✭✭✭CyberGhost

hmm, I think i'm gonna to with kensington pilot mouse optical!

was looking for mx1000, but looks too heavy for gaming! and like you said about the laser, it suits me less

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

yeh i could cope with just adjusting the sensitivity, i know it would take a while but fair enough

the lag issue though i move my hand to reposition the mouse its something i do subconsciously i dont even NEED to do it most of the time but i just do, ive been doing it since i was like 4..so i doubt ill ever be able to stop that, with this it makes online gaming a no go..sorry but im back on my old optical...overclockers better take it back

or i would have to sell it i guess...hmm...not good

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

I just got mine and I like it a lot. Its a huge improvement over my microsoft optical wireless mouse. Its even lighter than my previous mouse. The only multiplayer game I am playing at the moment is Far Cry and it works great with it. I dont seem to have any lag issues. Even when I pick it up it works straight away without any lag :)
    Well happy with the it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

maybe i got 1 of the "dodgy" batches then

ive emailed overclockers, they reply by asking me what surfaces ive tried it on, after telling em im still awaiting an email

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

I use the pad I got free with my casing. Thermaltake pad. Been using it for 5-6 hours now and still havent got a complaint.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

tbh it just doesnt feel right in UT for me..i think they are gonna send me a replacement so i think ill just sell the damn thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭Venom

Cool looking mouse but I could never get used to wireless mice. Just never feel responsive enough for my tastes. Viper, check out the Razor Bloomslang range as they are damm good mice.

Keep up with the positive posting.... after i ordered this mouse and it was shipped i reread the topic and realised id completely missed the part on the lag so i need good news to keep me happy about my 75e mouse that should arrive tomorrow...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

im thinking its a dodgy batch you know...as i dont think everyone gets it..so i wouldnt worry too much

ill check out the razors mate...as long as i can sell the mx1000 as ive just got an RMA number for it so this one is gonnneee...but they dont mention a refund or getting something else for the same price instead of..so i just presume ill get another next week...i was gonna ask for an audigy 2 instead

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

I did a comparison on a software called mouserate. I dont know how accurate this software is but on my old mouse I was getting an average 80-90Hz and on the MX1000 I was getting about 125-140Hz :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,400 ✭✭✭TacT

My two favourites out of the lot released so far have been the MS intelli 3.0 and the Logitech MX510 but I've yet to try an MX1000. I thought the MX310 was a rotten little thing, more of a rat :P
