Does anybody find it strange that almost directly after the announcement of the foot and mouth crisis Mc Donald’s releases the Mc Pork? All those pig carcasses are meant to be destroyed but when there should be a shortage of pork Mc Donald’s are able to release Mc Pork? Coincidence? I think not!

You should read the book Fast Food Nation

I have to say tho, I like the 'McCafe' they have on Grafton Street. It's connected to the main restaurant, but it seems like an entirely different establishment. I dont care what you say, but the hot chocolate they serve is distinctly gorgeous (it's cadbury's).

I second this I stopped eating out of fast food places before I read it now I have read it I'll never go back to one.
I'd much rather wait the 20 - 30 mins in a restaraunt and pay the price for nice food.

Personally i love some of the food in McDonalds, pesonally dont really care what happens to it (which usually is nothing id imagine unless you piss some one off) before i eat it. Mostly urban legends.
Used to work in BK (managament) and there at least its fairly strict about everything. Couldnt cook chicken in the vegetable fats etc. Of course management couldnt be everywhere at once.
(especially when most of the management are fat ****s and are stuffing their face half the time. Thats the only thing that really made my stomach turn.)

So who heard about the Abrakedabra 'special' sauce incident in Dun Laoghaire? More Urban Legends tbh. (Tho i never ate there but mostly cos i hate the food)

Legally, you can call a meat 100% pure anything in this country and the UK and it can still include sinew, fat, and all manner of gross things.
Personally, i've long since stopped eating processed meats like mince, and for 99c a burger you can't possibly claim it's top quality meat in there!

As for mc D's employing under 18's...they employed me part time when i was 15/16 and still in school....gave me and my friends as many hours as we could work even though we were in school and had specifically said we weren't able to do more than x hours per week.

Oh, and check out the McDonalds in the Blanchardstown centre...I think most of the staff in there are <16! Seriously!

I'm allergic to every food product they sell, except the ice cream so I never go near McDonalds. Even the smell of their food is horible.

I heard the other day that the words "100% beef" on the wrappers at McDonald's is actually copyrighted, so they can use the phrase, but that the "meat" is not actually 100% beef.

Thats very true. If you ask me, its quite ingenious.

HEHEHE...I don't know about fast food resturants overseas. But the McDonalds here is yummy. I don't usually eat beef at all but their Cheesburgers/BigMac's are delightful. I think I'll go into a corner now ...:D

Let's assume you mean "trade marked" rather than "copyrighted", otherwise what you've posted makes no sense.

"100% Beef" is a perfect example of a phrase that can't be trade marked, signifying as it does an expressible proportion of a base ingredient. Accordingly, McDonald's don't have the phrase "100% beef" trademarked (or indeed "copyrighted"). Additionally it's a phrase they wouldn't be allowed to use if it wasn't true. You are guaranteed that the meat comes from a part of a cow graded as "beef" (in other words, not cows eyeballs, see link below) and hence the description "100% beef" is accurate. Anything else is silly scaremongering by plonkers who can't check facts and who don't know any better.

As a slight aside, have a look here and here. Before the "I heard KFC don't use real chicken either" part of the thread starts, click here.

Sorry to rain on the parade.

I despice McDonalds about 1 yar ago I was draged into macdonals for the first time in years I order a quarter pounder with just ketchup(when ever you say red sauce they reply ketchup) and onions.
S I had to wait a few minutes after about five minutes I was called and handed quarter pounder with just cheeze I gave it back and told them my order again had to wait another five minutes by this time my mates(if I can call them that after draging me to a mcdonalds) were finished. I took one bite of the burger(which was still the wrong order as it had no onions) spit it out and put the rest in the bin.
I was in burger king once and they had some rodeo burger(or something like that) promotion a quater pounder with onion rings cheeze and bbq sauce. I asked for one without cheeze and they said it couldnt be done. I asked why I was told that it was a specal promotion and coulnt be altered. It wasnt as if I was asking for something extra how hard it is not to put cheeze on one burger for FS.I can only conclude that the burgers we all already made up hours ago.
Harrys or Abrakstrabra are slightly better but not much I tend to stick with proper chipers with proper chips when I want fast food.

If my memory serves me right '100% beef' is the name of the McDonalds owned company that manufactures the burger boxes.

I love the way McDonalds have 100% and PURE in huge letters on their fries packets, and 'vegetable oil' in tiny letters at the bottom, no mention of the fries ingredients

Oh great, a gathering of anti capitalist anti conformists who hate McDonalds. It seems some people here would swallow a brick. Do you believe every urban legend out there??

The main ingredient in McDonald's shakes is whole milk.

There is no beef in their fries, ffs.

As someone else already pointed out, you cannot 'copyright' the term 100% Beef.

The hygiene levels in McDonalds restaurants are far, far higher than your local family run chipper.

Yes, McD's food contains MSG. Big Deal. So does food in every restaurant. Ever eat a packet of crisps? They contain MSG. Enjoy soup? Riddled with MSG. As are pot noodles, anything in batter or breadcrumbs, most rice products and about 75% of products on sale in your local supermarket. Look out for E621 in the ingredients. That's MSG.

Check out your facts before closing your minds, people.

Trool? I take it you mean troll.

No, I'm not a troll. I haven't bothered to post before, but the narrow-mindedness of some people on this thread compelled me to answer them.

You're correct on both counts there. As I said, I worked in mc d's when i was in school, and the chips they use are regular Mc Cains chips.

But I don't agree with you about hygiene! Some Mc Donalds branches are FILTHY...the one in the Ilac centre is very skanky and the clientele don't help matters. I also saw some stomach turning things when I worked for them. When you pay staff ****, work them to the bone and treat them like dirt, you can't expect a high standard of service, especially when you're employing kids as young as 14! (Personally I don't think children of that age should even be allowed to work in an industry such as food preparation/cooking!)

    And MSG is king!

    You, sir, are a buffoon.

I've never heard anything more petty in my entire life than someone changing the toppings on a fast food takeaway burger and then getting the hump if it's not done the way you want it to be.

If you want to be picky about your food, go to a restaurant where you pay for the privilege of being picky. Fast food wouldn't be fast food if every pillock in line said "eugh, can you hold the gherkins, I HATE gherkins. Oh, and I want a bacon double cheeseburger but with only one patty and with no cheese."

As for places that wont allow you to omit set ingredients on "special offers", here's a stunningly radical suggestion for you:

Whatever you don't want to eat, push it to one side.

However, on re-reading your original post, you appear to be a connoisseur of "red sauce" so you obviously are THE discerning consumer. I speeet on your KETCHUP. (Which, incidentally, isn't a brand name, it is actually a term for a thick spicy sauce usually made from tomatoes. A bit like you actually. On the thick and spicy front. Are you usually made from tomatoes?)

The guy sounds a bit daft, but in fairness MAJD, Burger King have an "as you like it policy" which means they will remove anything you want from your burger.

    He shouldn't have been refused.

I agree with minesajackdaniels. Theres a time and a place to be picky and McDonalds aint it. You are just the kind of twat that pisses everyone else in the queue off with ur snivelling and whining. "theres too much sauce" "not enough cheese" "The bun isnt perfectly circular". If you are paying a small price for a burger dont whinge that they havent gone out and ground up the cow exclusively for you. Also - you said you got "dragged" in even though you despise McDonalds. Were you kicking and screaming all the way to the golden arches? I think not. Everyone has
choices. If you despise them so much, eat somewhere else.
Personally speaking, I prefer Burger King cos they just taste nicer and they are a little more generous with meat and dressing. Go eat in Eddie Rockets where you can "Design your own" ... but even at that Im willing to bet you would find some quibble with that too....... Give yourself a lash there lad ffs.
