    First, Sev, is your head recovered after Maccas party yet??? (!!!). You seemed fairly out of it at times.

    Yeah, I was wasted... fell asleep some time between 5am and 8am, and dont really have much recollection of the passing of time.. but the luas trip was sobering.

    And roughly half our class got firsts, which seems a bit ridiculous. I scanned through the results of most of the other courses and its way more as a percentage of the class than any other course in the college. Which should dictate that TP is either really easy, or really competetive. But its neither. So I'm confused.

    Or that they marked it really easy to avoid the embarrassment of everyone failing. But I dont think thats likely. I still dont know how I got a first in Physics, it defies common logic. Maybe they had a thousand monkeys randomly scribbling on our papers and mine was lucky and got a "1" on it. Doesn't explain the rest of them though, unless its a giant monkey correcting conspiracy...

    First off all the courses

    In general science you do 4 subjects out of 6 in first year the options are
    exp phy, thy/maths phy, comp sci, chem, bio, maths
    3 in second year
    2 in third (double hon option decided here)
    and an option to do single hon or double in 4th

    If you do a specialised course like
    theo phy and comp sci
    or astro phy
    you do the general first year with extras

    eg for theo phy and comp sci. you do maths, theoretical physics and computer science and one other subject of the 6 for your forth. You can do exp phy (otherwise i dunno who i'm demonstrating to every year)
    This course is a 4 year one.

    maths phys and maths has been around for years and even though it is 3 years you do just as much if not more than the 4 year one because you don't have to do the extra subject in 1st year.

    Pluses for maynooth

    We are a new college, our buildings and equipment are top of the line.
    we have some great lecturers and our undergrad courses are just as good as any others.

    Our populatity is rising as more an more students realise that we are here and a good option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Social atmosphere
    I love this college there is great involment in clubs and societies and we have just the right number of people to easly make friends. The town is small but cosy and most maynoothians move here and make it their home.
    anyway thats my addvertising finished.
