    Lovely bike ugsparky. :) Just one thing, the first pic shows the handlebar stem and a gap at the mounting bolts. Shouldn't the fork steerer tube not run all the way to the top,

    Reckon it's a silver alloy steerer tube and it's reflecting the grey wall behind.
    If you zoom right into the gap of the stem you can make out a faint line.
    Hope to god I'm right.:confused:

    This. Its the same on my Orion. Its just that the silver alloy steerer is similar in tone to the wall, and it appears to be a gap. Its not (I assume)

    Thanks guys for your concerns - but its OK - it is clamped top and bottom. When I was being fitted the guy lifted the handle bars and placed an extra spacer underneath. The stem rises above the clamp and has another spacer under the top cap and fixing bolt. It must have been the grey wall.

    Thanks for the kind comments about the bike - and thanks again for your concerns. Adding a new photo - so if you want to OK it I'll be very happy.

    With age my good man,unlike a good wine,the lamps get worse.
    I had to check out a few other pictures first before determining it was an alloy steerer causing the invisible effect.;)

    I like that it appears they've built it up bit by bit(judging by the mix of campag SR 11 kit), rather than "here's my credit card"

    Saw this beauty on a google search. Steel Colnago anniversary with all mod cons. Sweet build.

    That's very nice and super light. The seatpost/saddle combo is handmade in Slovenia by Berk, a young talented fella and only weighing like 110gr for the set (remember his name, I think he is going to go far).

    I reckon they could save a bit of weight on those wheels by not having "Lightweight" so many times on them! 4 each side of each wheel?!?

    Yea I saw some of his work on weightweenies. Really cool stuff and as you say talented guy, done in his garage pretty much. Always a good sign. A Tullio Campagnolo in the making. :)

    That bike is gonna be super light alright. OK it's a steel frame, but it's a small size so a couple of pounds(if that) over a full carbon frame. There are guys knocking up steelies that even come in under the UCI weight limit. Component weights have come down a lot in weight in the last 2 decades. Saw on another forum a guy with an old early 80's Reynolds 753 frame in 56cm who built it up with the latest in weightsaving stuff and he got it down to 16.5 lbs/7.5 kilos.

    Does that mean there is no horizontal adjustment of the saddle?:confused:

    Correct. The saddle/post combo is made to order for each person so it can only work with the angles of the bike you want it to match.

    Yeah, I bought a saddle/seatpost combo from Jure Berk a few weeks ago. Amazing craftsmanship & incredibly light (140gm). He's going places alright - and I'm his first customer in Ireland!!!

    Great name! It sounds like a latin american immigrant (Tony Montana style) saying "You are a berk" :D

    Depending on group set obviously, but iirc the gold frame is something like 3k and the silver 2.2k

    Whats he like to deal with? How did you give him your specification? And If you don't mind how much was it?

    Ah I quite like that. Pity the Ridley has an intergrated seat post, but this is one to keep in mind for the future:rolleyes:

    Another Italian steelie job. This time a Zullo;
    4816567552_f3939b88ae_z.jpg
    Running the rare as rocking horse droppings recent anniversary Shimano Dura Ace gruppo. Tiziano Zullo has been in the game for 40 years, before talents like Pegorretti and many others and like Pegoretti still going, both of them weathering the slump in steel that happened when aluminium and Carbon came along. More for your money than Pegs IMHO(Pegs are seriously gorge tho).

    Plus the quality of their paintjobs is unreal. Check out the front fork inner detail and the multi layer cross fades;
    zullo-vergine-21.jpg

    My own vintage near 30 year old frame is a Zullo. Totally unknown name at the time in Ireland. Had a bit of a crash on it recently which buggered my hip(I'll heal) and scraped the paint. Which was ropey. Italy's painters since Leo Da Vinci up to Alfa are known for their skill but not their longevity :D. So I decided to strip and repaint it as a winter project. What I found was serious quality in the brazing. Bugger all filing and near perfect flow of the solder on the tide lines of the lugs. Ditto for the rear
    triangle alignment. Oldies may remember the grub screws on rear dropouts to make sure the rear wheel was lined up. In this frame with the screws removed the wheel is plumb line straight between the stays. 0.3 of a mm towards the drive side(Sad sack that I am, I measured :o).

    The orbeas have 3 different carbon qualities.1 Gold.2 Silver.3 Bronze.The TopBike in shannon and ennis are a sister company to Freewheel who distribute orbeas and ktms throughout Ireland.They also have laser bike fitting.Nice blokes in both shops.The silver carbon with full ultegra weighs about 7kg

    Depending on the size and wheels I'd say, my 57cm silver orca with sram force is 7.1kg rolling with my extralites.
    Stock silver / 57 / force / ksyrium elites was 7.6.
    We have a couple of gold ones in the club all similar weight. The frame isn't ultra weight weenie territory but it is stiff, comfortable and aero.
