    There's just a knack to it, but it's easy if you get a pair of pliars or even tweezers, put them in the ring and open them out, the pressure should cause the ball to pop out of the ring and voila!

    Just go back to the place you got it done and explain the situation. They won't mind, they're probably used to people having problems trying to get piercings open.
