    yeah ssh is still blocked but irc is working again. im not sure yet but compsoc might not start properly until after clubs and societies day which i think is next wednesday or thursday. we hope to have two laptops at the stand playing counter strike or quake3 or something like that and any suggestions as to how we could get people to come over and pretend to be interested would be great.....

    right, the main objective this year is to get half life installed, updated and counter strike installed.
    but for now, the list of games that we have that will run on the computers in compsoc are....

    Age of empires 2,
    Alien vs predator,
    Broodwars ( my favourite ) ( sarcasm )
    Deus Ex,
    Diablo II
    Homeworld
    Quake3
    Return to castle wolfenstein
    Starwars ( Jedi Knight 2 )
    Total Annihilation
    Unreal Tournament
    Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory Map Test ( i think that the full version of this has now been released )

    Make sure they're "patched" so that they don't need registry access, and don't use Installshield to install, as its unable to run on the college PC's, and we have no write access to the C drive.

    These unoffical meeting of compsoc are fair bad as no1 seems to bother turnin up.

    i think reason for lack of ppl turnin up for compsoc may be due to fact
    leave house, with fast comps + good sound + lots games
    to go out in cold to college w/ slow comps, crap sound, and minimal games :D

    well compsoc hasn't really started yet, societies day is tomorrow and after that i think things should be picking up a fair bit

    i just had an idea!
    im in room A311 now and the pcs are P4 2.4ghz with GeForce4 graphics. why not ask the techies to let us have CompSoc in here?! the games would be much better!

    yeah i think everyone would like to use that room for compsoc...but....
    im not sure if the techies would let us use that room. i think that they like to keep us as close to them as possible. i dunno why that is as we didnt cause too much trouble last year. as in, the only problems that they had with us was the noise levels, they had to tell us to pipe the **** down a few times. after noise levels, there were no other problems so i dont see why we have to use the closest lab to them. also, i dunno why but im not looking forward to asking them to let us install half life. i know its only a simple game and it only has to be installed once, but they dont give a ****ing **** what it is. they dont want it on their systems. still thinking about a311. i think that if we got a311, a lot more people would turn up definately. they're serious machines for the amount of them. think of it, 9 pcs in our houses, all under and over that spec, but theres 30 or so machines there all that spec... that would make for a serios multyplayer that we couldn get goin at home.... but then again... we have to get the lab first. if its not used in the evening, i cant see why not.....

    I was lookin @ those rooms b4 and they seems to be free after 5 every day... so heres hoping!

    are ya sure there geforce 4 as they wud be sweet (not doubting ure computer skills The_B_Man! (ure quake skill are another story :))

    so as compsoc is still unoffical me guesses there won't be anything on tonite again??

    I'd say if enough ppl showed a desire to use that room and if somebody well versed in the art of negotiation was to ask the techies they might consider it. I mean it's not like we're mad or anythin!

    the graphics cards are geforce 4 mx 420. actually i think the room might be A313 not 311!! oops. its the one in the opposite corner 2 techies "office" anyway.:ninja:

    kinda like doing COBOL for 2 months on project, then loosing it all as they decided to re-image Machine where was all stored!

    dont know what day ye are on about but oficially its not on tonight (thursday). monday should be the first official meeting. but as last year went, sometimes compsoc went on every night of the week without fail, then when exams came it sorta dropped off to one or two nights per week.
