So I got into an argument at a car park with a cheapskate

I park my car at a public paid car park when I go to work.

I noticed that there are few people who work around in the area who park there, and then at around 6-ish when people are leaving work they wait and circle around in their cars looking for someone to exit the car park and then they tailgate them out avoiding the parking fee. And they do it every single day.

What's funny is that these cheapskates are driving really nice, new cars, are nicely dressed, obviously they can afford a parking ticket... but they don't mind or care about tailgating out anyone just so they avoid paying the fee.

I got tailgated out many times and finally had enough. So I said I would not let anyone tail gate me out anymore, especially because I know they work in that area, this is not just some stray car that entered the parking by accident. They know exactly what they are doing.

Today as I was going to my car from work, I noticed this guy sitting in his car and by the time I paid for my ticket and I got into my car he was circling around and got into the position to chase me out. What he did not expect is that I would not let him out.

What's amazing is the level of entitlement. I told him I was not letting him out and he is still trying to follow me out. It's astounding.

Sorry for the profanity in the video, but I simply have had it with these people.

You have to laugh at the entitlement of some people. Did the guy end up following you out or did he back up?

    Fair play
He is a self entitled ass by the sounds of it.

I always thought the barrier comes down quick enough to stop this from happening.

Where is that? And did I hear you say a whole 4 quid a day?

No, I made him back up. There was a car behind him, you can hear in the video me asking the other car to back up.

Sandyford. Unfortunately it does not come down fast enough. They installed ramps to try and counter act this, but they fly over those, doing damage to their cars so they avoid paying the ticket.

The thing is, I would not have minded if they found some loop hole or something smart and go around the barrier that way. But the way they are doing is just getting at other people's expense.

Fair play to you. I don't want to pay for parking as much as the next guy but jesus, if you choose to park there, get over it and pay the ticket.

I know that car park, I'm in there a lot and there are a lot of fancy cars in there! Sure the first 3 hours are free in there, so if they timed it right they could move the car out and in again on their lunch break and only have to pay about €2 for the whole day! I was down there the other week when they were putting those ramps in and I wondered what they were for. Now I know :pac: Fair play, OP!

Next time... stick it in reverse and watch him back off real quick.

Brilliant. Some people need to be shamed into being decent members of society.

Is there no security there that you can report the problem to? Surely the sight of a security guard there for a few days will prompt people into paying the charge.

I'm sure some people will say it's not worth the time or don't waste your breath, but fair play. There's only so much **** a person can put up with, big or small. Too many people getting away with doing whatever they want.

Maybe worth reporting the reg of the car to the parking company?

I know parking is expensive but, it's just the cost of driving you have to live with. He's welcome to get the bus or ride a bike like everyone else who doesn't drive!

I'm confused, when you stopped in front of the barrier, surely it came down between the two cars and he was blocked in anyway, no?

Do you put coins in the machine at the barrier to get out, or do you have to pre-pay at a machine?

Can't imagine embarrassing myself to that level over €4, especially if I've actually availed of the service. Shameless. Fair play to you pulling them up on it OP.

I'm still not sure if you're from Kerry, or Poland, or if maybe you're Al Pacino, but my god I loved that last part of the video - "MOTHERFKCER. FCUK YOUUU!" - haha! Fair play though. Fcuk them.

I put my ticket in, the barrier went up, but he followed me closely, so the barrier stays up because it has sensors when there is something close it stays up. I moved past the barrier, but he was right under it, the reason I made him back is to make the barrier come down.

I'll have a look into it, they are putting down the ramps, so they must be aware of the problem.

The problem is that they can keep a security guard of there only for so long. And then they'll go right back to it.

If both guys had met while paying and threw a few coins in each and then pulled this trick - I'd say good work getting 2 cars out for the price of one but cheapskate in this case wants to freeload and thinks someone else should pay for him. He is doing this to someone every day. He is a dick head.
Saving €1000 per year by freeloading.

Presumably if you owned a business you'd look the same on people that didn't want to pay you?

Mostly owned by the garages in the area. They have a deal to store them there.

Why not get worked up over it? I have to budget 80 euro a months for that car park. While they enjoy a free ride. At other people's expense.

As I mentioned. If they found a loop hole where they use their X-Men Magneto powers to raise that barrier, that's OK, I guess. You were smart, you found a solution. Or if you're friends with people and agreed to share before hand that's fine too. But what these people are doing is just being chancers and having no shame at all.

"Are you waiting for me to let you out?"

"Yeah" he says, without an ounce of shame.
