Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With all the FKT scammers recently I particularly appreciate the way he addresses transparency. Looks top notch in terms of sharing data and the like.

I wish him all the best and look forward to following

That looks great, I wish him well.

I'll have to alert letsrun geniuses, has to be fake. Not a world record, not for charidee, i'll rely on walshy's opnion if he is a great guy.

Exactly what the forum needs to reinvigorate it! It will be like the good old days.

Best of luck with that Enduro. I wish all those attempting records and feats like this had your commitment to verification and transparency. It is tedious to see the bluffers stringing people out and the doubters spending time researching the background. Unfortunately will be stuck in a car most of Saturday and don't know about wifi but I'm looking forward to reading about this in time.

Enduro starts his HeadtoHead adventure tomorrow morning at 8am. You can track him here.

He has posted some notes on his prep. here.

    Best of luck Enduro.

Any wise folks here have any idea when he might be around Ballinamore?

crazy route, not the way i'd go. I'd have suggested that after longford > sligo >letterkenny.

the roads in nothern ireland are very narrow ,windy with no hard shoulders and alot of traffic.

But he knows what hes doing and I know nothing about this.

best of luck and i'll see him in a couple of days.

He has to pass close to my house to get into Malin, must keep and eye out for him to cheer him on.

Some challenge. Wish him the best of luck, I see he appears to have stopped for the night.

    Likely in the ice bath!

I think you underestimate this man Enduro. This from his blog at https://eoinkeith.wordpress.com/
Sleep strategy is similarly dynamic. The broad aim will be to get through all the way to the second night before sleeping. And from there take it as needed, with a provisional target of 2-3 hours per night, and power naps where necessary.

So if he has stopped, I hope it is just for a toilet break.

Probably just lost satellite. It happened for a period earlier.

I had a look at the tracker a short while ago and saw where he was, I was thinking htf did he get there, then I remembered he was doing it south to north.

I was thinking he was making some serious head way then figured it must be a mix up, :D

Just curious, have many attempted this run?

He's on the move again since about 21:45 - had about a 3 hour stop at Kanturk. Weather has been filthy down this way today, blustery winds and rain.

I'll be keeping a close eye on progress, with any luck our paths will cross while I'm on my way to Limerick for the marathon early tomorrow.

Edit: Nope, he's piled up the miles overnight and about an hour ahead of where I expected him to be. We'll on target for 200km+ for the first 24 hours!

He went past the 200k mark just before 7.30 this morning so well on target

Man that is tricky to do on the phone, and with the added complications of predictive text. Hopefully the course is the right way round now.

He's though 300km now. Well on track, over half way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭Annie get your Run

Had hoped to see him either in Leitrim or westmeath today but wasn't to be. Following on facebook & tracker, great to see he's still well on track.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭martyboy48

    For those not on Facefook...
Small siesta. Just in case people are watching the Tracker. Back after 12:00

  • Registered Users Posts: 182 ✭✭Burgman

Enduro went through 350km at around 0600 this morning. Right now seems to be in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim at possibly 380ish and it won't be long before he heads into Northern Ireland.

    This is truly awesome.

Just crossed the border - crew hopped on his back to celebrate. Think I'd kill him  Going great !

Just saw this on the face book page - "Aghhhhh - Anyone near the maxol garage, Sligo road, Enniskillen??
The van had just got a flat tyre. Richard following Roin on the bike. Taryn is struggling with getting the nuts off the alloys... anyone local??
    07970736408"

Anyone here from around those parts?

  • Registered Users Posts: 182 ✭✭Burgman

Probably around 420km done now, a bit more than 100km to go. You know, "only" around 100km. Like I have done less than that in the last three weeks.

Enduro seems to be just keeping going - but the van got a puncture in Enniskillen. So, he's not a machine - he's just much more reliable.

Nearly there? Ah jaysus... my favourite phrase!! :-D

But really, he should break the record by a fair bit shouldn't he?

He seems to have taken a break this evening. Posting on Facebook just now says "On the move shortly folks!". I'm sure he is weary at this stage heading into his third night but I hope he is buoyed up by the prospect of finishing some time on Tuesday afternoon. No word of his body but he tends not to be affected by injuries. Fingers crossed. I'm rooting for him, in as much as I can, given that I am heading off to bed.

Ran Strabane,Derry, Muff (about 3.5hrs)with him, he's as strong as ever and in great spirits.

Well done Ed. As of now, the tracker shows about 30km left so it must be possible that Enduro will finish before noon. That would make it 3 days and four hours - 76 hours, a fabulous record. But I'm not going to tempt fate.

And imagine someone asking "what did you do for your weekend Eoin?". "Ah, sure I just ran the length of the country, and you?"

Just saw him outside Carndonagh while on the school run.

Seems in great spirits considering how far he's come. Must be a machine!

Not far to go now, it's a beautiful morning up here. I see from his route he's heading over the Black Mountain rather than taking lower Road to Malin Head. Fair play, that's tough in a car!

  • Registered Users Posts: 182 ✭✭Burgman

Very thoughtful of him to get finished early in the day. I might get a bit of work done.

Mimi Anderson, the still current record holder has been cheering him on on Facebook and twitter all weekend. Reminds me what I always really enjoyed about ultrarunning - the support from others. Despite the fact he is likely to smash her record she's been supporting it all weekend.

Tracker seems to be on the blink a bit. Shame as we're coming up to the end. Looking forward to seeing the crew's video of the last few metres.......

I wonder have they changed plan looking at the tracker (which is back up again ;) )

Yip, looks like the lower Road ok.

Still will have plenty of hills to contend with, but I'd say missing out the mountain is a wise move.

I have the zoom down to 500 metres on the Tracker (while working).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Looking like less than 100 metres on my machine. edit: Nope, looks like he's just about finished, gone beyond the blue track to the head itself.
