    Hi All,

Was in Sam Mc Cauleys over the weekend and I saw NUPO Diet so i decided that i would give it a go.....Supposedly you will lose 14IBS in 2 Weeks if its stuck to religiously..... So I decided to start this morning...

Is anyone else doing it and have they got any results???

I started this morning by weighing myself and I nearly had a heart attack, I was 12 stone 9 Ibs.....I could have cried I never realised I had gotten that big, so I have definitely got the motivation to keep it going looking at the numbers on the scales.

Is there anyone else doing it or want to do it, so we can give each other support???

I will keep people updated on progress if anyones interested ???

Honestly? To me it sounds dangerous. Each portion of their food is 100cal, and you have 6 a day. 600cal/day is less than a third what your body needs just to function. You will certainly lose weight, but you will likely put it back on just as fast when you stop. Also; losing 14lb in 2 weeks is losing nearly a stone shockingly fast and again will mean you just put it back on again.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to decrease your calorie intake to a recommended level (and 600 cal/day sounds like a starvation diet) and increase your exercise. You should look to lose only a few pounds a week. Losing it slowly through positive changes to your diet and lifestyle will ensure you keep it off for a lot longer than going on a crash diet.

Please reconsider doing this diet! A good friend did a similar one two years ago and still suffers the effects today. She lost three stone at the time, but as well as gaining it all back and more, she now gets heart palpitations and the hair that she lost still hasn't grown back. I understand all too well the desperation, but you will almost certainly regret this.

Would you consider a lower-carb diet as an alternative? You will still get reasonably fast results but you won't be starving your body.

That's insane. How are they even allowed sell products like this.

BBC has at the moment very good program on diets and their ineffectiveness. I do believe that people are able to lose some weight and keep it off with a change of lifestyle but with this you are just going to gain all back with interest. And very quickly.

It's just another fad diet like Lipotrim, Celebrity Slim, Slim Fast and any other meal replacement shake-based diet out there. It's not going to work in the long term and may actually do more damage than good.
OP, weight creeps on gradually over time, you need to remove it gradually too you can do this heathily through exercise and a cleaner diet. Don't waste your money on a supposed quick fix. Practically ever person I know who tried Lipotrim back when it was all the rage put the weight back on and more and were gutted and felt they had failed, when in actual fact they had been set up to fail from the get go. Don't bother with it, head over to the stickies on the nutrition and diet forum and get some useful tips on food and so on.

Yes I know that losing 14IBs in 2 Weeks is extreme however they do say that your body gets all the nutrients and vitamins etc that it needs in these 2 weeks.....Its supposedly designed by a danish nutrionist..... and then when you finish your 2 weeks you eat healthy and excercise etc.... I just want something with a kick start to get the motivation going , and nothing beats motivation than seeing the weighing scales go down...

The thing about nutritionists, and I mean real ones rather than Gillian McKeith ones, is that they like money too. It's also really quite difficult to get a job working as a nutritionist that isn't, in some way, helping a company sell a food product or way of eating by linking your name or your expertise to it. It's the horrible dilemma lots of science grads are faced with. So 'created by nutritionist' is something you should take with a huge pinch of lo-salt. Maybe those shakes have a whopping scoop of vitamin powder in each one of them, doesn't mean your body can absorb it properly or that you aren't setting yourself up for horrible future issues and weight gain when you're done with your first 2 weeks on it and trying to integrate actual food back into your diet.

Just throwing some light on the lipotrim, it is a medically supervised program for treating obesity as oppose to just another fad diet alternative on the market, you can't do it without pharmacist consultation and weekly check ins and it is pretty much a fasting plan designed to induce ketosis so it's not intended to be a long term solution or healthy eating program, after a couple of weeks they are weaned back into eating regular food with guidelines and hopefully a more positive approach to nutrition. (not selling it either but I think it's a bit different from say an aitkins or 2 day fast type programs that are available for everybody)

(Nupo afaik you can just buy over the counter but it seems to take a similar kind of approach to lipo without the supervision, there's a reason why these kinds of diets need to be supervised)

"Nutritionist" means sweet feck all. I could call myself a nutritionist right now if I wanted. You don't actually need any qualifications or training to be a "nutritionist". Gillian McKeith is a "nutritionist" and she bought her "PhD" from the internet.

A dietitian is a qualified professional who's registered with a professional body. They're the ones whose advice is worth taking, and they would NEVER advocate a starvation diet like that.

It's great to get quick results, but think of how long you spent putting on that weight. That wasn't a quick process, so how would losing it properly be quick? You'll only get long-term results with a properly managed diet, education, and exercise.

There's no quick fixes when it comes to weight loss. 14lbs in 2 weeks is a lot even taking water weight into consideration. Post your diet over in the nutrition forum, the guys/gals there are super helpful and maybe they could recommend some changes to your diet. They say weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. You don't need to starve yourself on 600cals a day to lose weight. Good luck.

As a wise man once said "'Nutritionist' is to dietician as 'Toothiologist' is to dentist". Nutritionist is a worthless title that means nothing. I could call myself a nutritionist and recommend you eat a pinecone a week and there is nothing to stop me.

Okay I know what everyone is saying......
I want to do the diet for 2 weeks as i already said i want a kickstart ..... it gives you a recommended eating plan to follow to keep weight off and to teach you the calories in certain foods so you will be able to maintain the weight later...

Nupo was developed at Hvidovre Hospital in Denmark by leading obesity researcher Dr. Flemming Quaade in conjunction with the company Oluf Mørch A/S, which was primarily responsible for commercialising the name.

I wanted to see what other people's experience's were on it
    or
if someone wanted to start on it with me!!!!!

So did anyone hear try it or want to try it?????????????????????????

PS Just had the mint chocolate Nupo Bar for lunch its delicious ;)

I think if you want to do it OP go for it, it's for two weeks and if it helps you find your feet you got what you want. If you do start the program, take the time to check out some of the health and fitness stickies while you're at it, it will give you a chance to educate yourself and add another goal to your plans. Best of luck with it

Avoid it. Meal replacement is bullsh1t, you will just pile the weight back on when you end the "diet". If it sounds too good to be true - it is.

Eat healthily & exercise. There is no quick fix or cheat - it's just educating yourself, having the discipline to make the right choices and work hard. Go to the nutrition forum & exercise forums for advice and support if you are serious about losing weight.

Also, 14lbs in 2 weeks?? Unless you were about 300lbs to begin with, you won't see anything more than a 2lb loss per week and that's healthy. It's just water weight initially and will go straight back on. Con job.

If you're set on doing it we can hardly stop you. However I would bet money that you won't last; you will be so hungry with only 6 drinks or bars a day that you will cheat, the diet will fail, and you'll blame yourself for it when it is in fact an impossible task in the first place.

Seriously, you will be better off physically and mentally if you make a list of what you eat in a week, cut out all the crap, and go for an hour's brisk walk every day. That's how I went from ~14st to the ~10st I am now.

    DAY 2

Well managed to get through Day 1 easily enough and to be honest you are not really hungry on it, that could obviously be down of course to the 3 litres of water i drank yesterday as well, normally i would drink about 1 1/2 litres of water every day anyways....
Was busy yesterday at work so only managed ...strawberry shake for breakfeast (112 cals), nupo bar for lunch(200 cals), Soup for Dinner (112cals) and had nupo bar (200 cals) and black tea last night...all in all 624 calories consumed, so i must start doing more shakes and cut out the bars and try do the 6 portions as its better for you that way....
I thought i would be starving but i'm not thank god and the Chicken Green Thai Soup is delicious.....

Is there anyone out there who is giving it a go???

Hi there nupodieter, welcome to boards and to the Ladies' Lounge.

Normally we would move threads of this nature to the Health & Fitness forum, however the reason I didn't was twofold - they would be dead against this diet, but also because we have had a successful thread on the 5:2 diet which seemed to run smoothly so I figured I would give it a chance.

However, we cannot allow food diary type threads. We used to have a forum for such posts and it was closed for good reason by the mods and admins. So I am going to close this up and refer you to the Health & Fitness forum for advice on your diet.

    Best of luck
