Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FYI - you can get two months Now TV Sports Extra for the price of one at the moment - so that's legal streaming of all the pool games for €34

Andy Brace has seen his appointment for next weekend’s Heineken Champions Cup switched due to the online abuse hes received after Autumn Nations Cup

He will now referee the game between Wasps and Montpellier instead of Toulouse v Exeter.

What's the logic there? Fears for his physical safety if he travels to France?

Gives it another week for things to settle down/blowover too.

To be fair, couldn't blame the guy for just needing the weekend off after the disgraceful nonsense sent his way.

He hasn't been given an extra week. He's been swapped from a R2 game in France to a R2 game in England.

He's doing Bristol v Clermont tomorrow.

Gives the issue more time to blow over. Lot of anger and why give that more oxygen by having him in France for game now.

Likelihood of vahamaahina getting carded today??

I fancy bears by about 5

I'm normally a Heineken Cup addict, watch all the games on a HC weekend, love a good back to back fortnight... I'm just not feeling it this year. Maybe it's the format, I don't know, but I just can't bring myself to care too much for some reason.

I'm sure I'll still be glued to the TV come 6.30 though.

[edit] Maybe this will put me in the mood ... yeah, that does it.

Clermont have found their mojo already

The French teams will be loving this no fans malarkey this season for their away travels...headed for 3 away wins from 3.

    26-7

    Conversion to follow

Clermont are poor enough in defence though. I don’t think their work rate, discipline and shape is that good. Powerful in attack for sure though.

I was looking out for Beauden Barrett there!

Now I realise you're talking about Brian Byrne...he just scored a try off a maul from a 5 metre lineout.

Clermont are absolutely streaking away :O

Clermont defense so bad its hilarious at times

It’s very refreshing to watch teams actually look at making a break off first phase as opposed to just hitting it up down the middle.

    Unbelievable pass from Parra

Was Penaud injured during the international window? I don’t remember him playing in any of Frmace’s games

That Bristol scrum half is dropping lads 3 times his size.
Love the fact LEE ran through Sinkler too. How old is Fritz Lee seems like he’s been around for ages?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,150 ✭✭✭letowski

Clermont’s TBP and tries scored will be a big advantage for them particularly in this year’s qualification format.

  • Registered Users Posts: 78 ✭✭Muligatawney

Finding Andrew Brace the absolute embodiment of the frustrating new interpretation of the breakdown laws. Couple of extremely harsh penalties

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

That’s Earls and Sinkler told to watch their words to Brace.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

That Bristol try on 77 minutes was clearly knocked on off the arm. TMO asleep?

Max Mallins is a quality player.

Poor from mallins , no need to stick it on the corner flag.

Sinkler being told to fúck off by Lee at full time, day made.

Hi where are you seeing this offer, I'm still being quoted 1 month at that price on the app?

    Edit-found it through Groupon

    Thanks

Well done scarlets, fantastic defensive effort to hold on to that win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

I'd be interested to see the wide angle because Spencer chanced it himself and lost the game. Was there a walk-in out wide? The conversion wasn't needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Just as well Owens retired, Cruse’s try celebration would have been pulled up (Finidi George dog pissíng).

A lot of away wins this weekend so far.

Which means a lot of teams are going to phone it in from here.

Edit: Gloucester have already decided they don't care by naming a weakened side going to Lyon tomorrow.

I think the dragons would have won today if they could pick their preferred team. Wasps were poor and they left on their tighthead despite him having a mare and getting a yellow card because they had nobody they could bring on to replace him

Edinburgh v La Rochelle is already shaping up to be a great match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,601 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Absolutely frenetic, this is being played at 6 nations speed and intensity

I like the way Luke Pearse is reffing this so far

Saw a chunk of it, but have had to turn it off. Found it a frantic and very messy game.

Started off brilliantly but has descended into an error strewn mess. It's a standard Edinburgh home game. La Rochelle should be 20 points ahead. The first time that Edinburgh made it into the opposition 22 was the 35th minute.

That try almost typified the game. Bit of a kick to nothing. La Rochelle FB should have taken it handy enough. Completely missed it for the Edinburgh score. Then Edinburgh miss a handy conversion to take it to a 3 point game.

Edinburgh have been stubborn in defence. I think that's about as positive as I can be about this....

That was fantastic. "We'll leave you there, Ronan".

This game is brutal now. One of, if not the worst of the weekend. A more competent side would be playing for a BP win against Edinburgh.
