Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good point. I'd say the UK sim card is why Pay works. Still not working for me.

Any one else with the Huawei Watch 2 having issues that is no longer syncing data to the Huawei Health app? Im not able to pair it to the app.....

Na don't think it's that because I had the issues that everyone else is having up until a few days ago

All ok here regarding the syncing.

My trusty Motorola 360 is starting to act up so I think it's time I start looking for a new one. Those that have bought the Ticwatch Pro, how are you finding it? Still at a good price on Amazon. Also considering waiting for the new Samsung but unsure of Tizen

Another update to google pay today and so far it's staying enabled. Also, much, much quicker opening.
    2.70.206190089

    Huawei Watch 2
Also found out that if you double click the programmable button, google pay opens. Nice feature which gives you two applications with one button. My other app is the torch for getting around the babies room at night :)

    Edit: disabled this morning.

Decided to test my amazfit 2 in the water park in lanzarote today (Rancho Texas Park, so mix of water park and zoo. Has a pool with 2 good slides and a salt water pool) . Was very iffy about leaving it on. Hadn't left it on in the hotel pool for the few days I've been here.

Wore it for an hour or so in the salt water pool and for 2 or 3 hours going on the slides (ending up in a pool) and it's 100%. . Not a bother on it in the pool.

Overall, after owning it since the end of May I'm hugely impressed.

Update on the huawei watch 2 (sport)...
I've had no end of trouble with it unpairing from my alcatel A3xl, it behaves itself with with a huawei g7 (which I use abroad) and occasionally with a beaten old Sony e4... The number of times I've had to factory reset the damn thing have me driven to distraction, enough so I'm close to just selling it on and getting some cheap pos off ebay... Very disappointed with something that had received such high praise...

That says more about the Alcatel than the watch. I have no problems with one paired to a OnePlus 5 even when the phone is also connected to the Bluetooth in my car and van.

Same here, never a problem I pairing and keeping connection. Btw, Google pay stays on all the time in Italy. But I don't think it should as it's not listed as a working country....

Edit: It actually lasted most of the day before it was disabled again.

So the Galaxy Watch isn't Android Wear after all. A good few websites had that as a cert for a while too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

What's the deal with the 4gb storage on all the watches? I've had a sony , a gear s2 , gear s , gear s3 and the amazfit 2. All 4gb, covering 5 years or so of watches.

It's not like memory is prohibitively expensive.

The midnight black is lovely.Any word on pricing?

Would be tempted if I could sell Gear Sport and not have to add a fortune on top.

Apparently the smaller one will be cheaper than the S3 was, with the larger being only 20 quid more. Giving it away free with a preorder - that's a great deal

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26,658 ✭✭✭✭OldMrBrennan83

Presumably the smaller one will be the one given away. Is there much missing from it?

Significantly smaller battery (472 v 270mAh), although there are more colour and strap options (at least initially) with the smaller version.

Compatible with anything not on Android Pie.

Google Pay seems to stay enabled for me now on the TicWatch Pro for a full day (until I power off or reboot). No new updates applied which is weird, not that I'm complaining!

Same here too. Did get message that phone needs to connect to watch to apply update. But that could be anything.

    Hi all,

Ordered x2 MiBand 2 last year for the OH and myself and they've been great so far - a couple of her colleagues want me to order a few for them.

What's the best site to get them these days (cheapest) I assume there is some price drop with the MiBand 3 out now? If my memory serves me correctly, I picked ours up for around 17/18 euro delivered with a voucher code on Gearbest, if I got in and around that price again I'd be happy.

    Thanks

    Hi.

How do you find the mi band 3?

Was thinking of for for my daughter. Either that or the Huawei band 2 pro because it has GPS aswell.

  • Registered Users Posts: 122 ✭✭Dunne_bkill

Is there an NFC version of the MI Band 3 available? I assume your phone must be NFC capable for this to work?

Sorry for my ignorance, but to clarify, do these watches need to be constantly connected to your phone via Bluetooth or do they work Independently and then update to the app whenever you turn on your bluetooth?

They connect to your phone using Bluetooth, but you can still connect your phone to other Bluetooth in your car etc. My Huawei watch 2 also has WiFi, it connects to my home WiFi when I'm at home

    Correct.

I never connect mine to my phone at all to be honest. I like having it as a stand-alone watch. It's pedometer/distance covered is accurate and it tells the time, that's all I need for my runs! In saying that, I would like to upgrade to a GPS watch in the future so I can map my runs via phone and laptop.

Yes thanks for that, but the question was does it still work if it is not connected to your phone?

Yes, you just won't get notifications from the phone

Would i be better off waiting to get the new Galaxy Watch, or is the S3 still worth it? It's €299 in Harvey Normans at the moment, and i'm very tempted.

Id wait and get the galaxy watch its only €40 more. If you pre order with DID they give you the dual wireless charger free. https://www.did.ie/samsung-galaxy-watch-1-3-silver-sm-r800nzsabt-sm-r800nzsabt-prd?cmp=cel&trigger=ac

For €40 extra I'd definitely go newer. Probably not worth the upgrade from an S3 to a GW but if you have neither then I wouldn't buy a two year old one at that money (plus they haven't said yet if the S3 will get Tizen 4.0).

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,215 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I was tempted by the newer one, but i think i prefer the S3 Frontier. Maybe if i could see them both in person first.

I've never had a smartwatch, so no idea what to expect with it to be honest.

There are shag all apps for Tizen but if you just want fitness tracking and notifications then I'd definitely buy it over a Wear OS one.

Anyone any feedback on the Amazfit bip or Amazfit pace?

Or anything else out there worth consideration? Max spend 120eur

€320/340 for the Galaxy watch on DID, seems like a very good price

Yeah, the only non-standard thing i'd like to do with it is use it for golf. I don't think i can run that on the watch itself, but it can (i believe) be synced up to the phone which would be in my bag.

I also saw a Diesel watch, which i've been a fan of before. These are Wear OS, so i'm guessing they have much more functionality. I've heard the battery isn't anywhere near as good though.

Is that a legit site? Currently either going for the S3 or the Galaxy Watch, but at €220, i may have to go for that one.

Also, does Samsung Pay only work at certain places? Or will it work at any swipe pay machine?

Eglobal is a legit site.I've got a phone from them before and I think it's camera's or camera parts that a lot of people on here were buying from them.

There used to be a fairly large thread about them on this site.

Bought camera lens worth 500e from them 3 months ago. No issues whosoever, fast delivery.
No idea about Samsung pay, using Android pay and it works perfect for me.

I will get Galaxy Watch, mainly because of battery life and better waterproofness (5atm). And the wireless charger due seems cool too.

I'm looking at the galaxy watch on eglobal too. I'm fairly sure you can play Spotify offline through the watch. Any searching I do seems to say it has been added to it.

Any other, cheaper, watches which offer this?
