Which company in Kilkenny did you get the quote from?

Campus oil, 1000 litres of kerosene. The quote was for €530 but they're doing a €10 voucher at the moment and it brought it down to €520. The code is SPRING.

540 now in Kerry. I'll wait a while more

I paid 57c a liter 2 weeks ago off Kelliher's and they haven't dropped their price since. I see the other two big suppliers in Kerry have dropped today.

Kellihers are a big enough company so when they do drop it should be near enough to the cheapest elsewhere in the country or else we are getting ripped off here in Kerry.

We're being ripped off. The Atlantic rep tried telling me they had delivery costs from Dublin to take into account.
Couldn't account for west of Ireland suppliers also having those costs and being cheaper!

It was €570/€580 for 1000 litres of kerosene for a week or 2 in Kilkenny. It only dropped to €520/€530 here yesterday.

I thought they collect it from foynes or limerick but their tanker is constantly on the go so they can easily make it up in volume and drop price further......

Is there anywhere in Cork that you can go to collect in drums yourself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭Agent_47

Here in Meath supplier's are in Dutch auction, bigger reductions on a 1,000 litres @483 while they silly buggers in reducing the price of 500 litres, @248.
Will order by 14 April as there's a lot more to drop, question is, how low?

Won't go below 440 generally. But oil prices are not moving, so you've nothing to lose by waiting.

The refining, distribution margins and carbon tax and 13.5% vat on that are close to 28c a litre.

The oil itself is currently 14c (16c Inc vat), so you might see 430/440 in some places.

Kellihers just dropped the price for the first time in a fortnight, down from 57c to 54c.

You were right about a cartel.

    It should drop close to
40c a litre in next three weeks. Oil has gone from 70$ to 23$ a barrel

Lots of places doing it around the country for 48c.

6c doesn't sound like much until you remember to multiply it by 1,000.

My fill is about 1050-1100 litres. I bargain at cent/ litre, knowing every half cent is worth over a fiver. 6c/ litre on a 1050 fill is 63 euro.

On holidays year ago I met an Indian/Packstani and he said at the time the Irish were the greatest hagglers/ bargainers similar to themselves

I think we have lost that trait over the last 20 years

In Galway today I was quoted

    1,000L 500L
    Top EUR 490 260
    Corrib EUR 510 260
    Sweeney EUR 560 290

    Texoil Galway

    1000-500euro
    800- 400euro
    750- 396euro

Before you could get best price from 1000l now looks like its 800 litres based on online quotes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,250 ✭✭✭Seamai

Got 500L delivered from Top Oil earlier this afternoon, (the tank would not take any more), ordered it last week 52c a litre after the €20 promotional offer had been applied. Out of curiosity I had a look at their site today and the price is now 4c a litre more.

Did a ring around myself today in Galway. Best prices were:

    Top Oil
    500L - €260

    Corrib Oil
    1000L - €450

Went with the 1000 - hard to resist.

Just as mentioned earlier in the thread, don't use apps or online quotes, RING.

Corrib Oil for 1000 litres diesel fuel.

On the app €630, on the phone €525

22% jump in oil prices today.

So if you can get €480 or below for 1000 litres, I'd take it.

There's still huge stockpiles of kerosene about as virtually no Aviation taking place (planes use kerosene), so the $23 oil prices may never feed into the supply chain fully.

Dollar has also dropped 3% to $1.08 and that feeds in almost immediately as the refined product is sold in dollars (even if it is refined in Cork!)

    vs 630 from app.

Yeah, saw that too, thought it would be a few days before that fed in but one supplier put 245 on for 500 litres so moved on my top up at 235 for 500, 600 litres ordered and no more worries till summer 2021..

Rang around this morning wanted 200L of green as well and it worked as follows

47c/L for Kerosene, about 1000L, and 200L agri at 50c/L. Mid West area. Delivery next Tuesday. Lucky enough there is about 6 that deliver around here. Dearest was 54 and 56c/L respectively. Most at 50+54c/L. Took 20 minutes ringing around. Two on cheapest price.
Difference between cheapest and dearest is 82 euro and on average prices is 34 euro.

(€470 for Kerosene according to www.cheapestoil.ie/heating-oil-prices/Wicklow).
I paid €750 for 1000 litres of Gas Oil last Summer.

As others have said, ring around and also http://www.cheapestoil.ie/
