Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, I'm new here and feeling the portfolio stress already (I'm going into LC in September) :( Trying to do that godawful-complicated new NCAD portfolio brief thingy!
This is some of my most recent stuff, please tell me what you think and feel free to be as honest (or harsh :P) as you like

These are great, you are super talented!
Im also doing that evil brief!
At first I was excited... then when i started all enthusiasm went out the window!

Ive been working on a stag's head for the past week... and 70s looking freak women.
    It's all very bland haha!

    xOxSineadxOx,

Keep practising your drawing skills. You need to add more depth to your drawings using light and shade. Ask your teacher for help.

Maybe try doing a night course in art. It's all about the practice and drawing what you see, not what you think you see... ( I learnt all about this when I did a portfolio course.)

Don't have pictures/scans of anything more recent!

i drew something very similar to that,

    Heres some more finished recently.

The lettering in the backround of the last pic needs a bit of work, but I honestly cant drag myself back to fine tune it.

Just thought I would start a thread f or people to post up their drawings and sketches. Anything from a quick doodle on a napkin to a the results of weeks of painstaking precision :D

Basically I want to get back into scribling and this might help me and others with a bit of inspiation.

I'll do first with an old unfinished sketch:

    masseys.jpg

Btw, sorry if there is a thread like this already - I couldnt find one.

Some stuff I've done over the last while:

    face.jpg
    faceteeth2.jpg
    muscularman.jpg
    orangedress.jpg
    bluegirl.jpg

I suppose the goal/dream I have right now art-wise would be to become an illustrator. I need to start working on some more finished pieces with more of a story and meaning to them.

    Pauleeeeeeee,

I merged your pictures thread with this thread. Seems only fair.

Your most recent work is fab! I love the colours in the last picture.

    Thanks man.
All of these apart from the blue one of the girls face are actually done in photoshop with a wacom graphics tablet. So...no actual paint :-p

obviously nothing that will offend other users (eg explicit stuff/ photographs etc..)..life drawings should be okay.

it will up to us mods to try and monitor this..

This took about a week of evenings after work to do. Pretty big canvas. Acrylic paint.

Will get a proper camera and set up for taking decent pictures over the next few months.

    FIREBIRD6.jpg

    Hello,
I’m back with another episode of “Firebird” and hoping for two things~ that you come back to read it again and that your gracious mod’s on the message board allow me to continue posting. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of work too. My goal is to crank these out once a month and for the art to be good enough for you to understand what is going on. To be honest I may be a little bit late sometimes depending on work, family life, etc. Also I decided to take #6 in a different direction somewhat and let you meet the lady behind the mask- who she is and what she does for a living…hope you enjoy, I will be sure to answer any questions / comments from you.
