Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ould christmas? My younger sister got a scooter for Christmas when she was about 5. She scooted round the table (in a very tiny living room), fell off, landed with her knee across the scooter and cut it quite badly. Very grumpy doctor had to be called out to stitch it, not at all impressed at having his Christmas morning disturbed!

They don't make doctors like they used to! Oh, sorry, they still do!

I suppose they think 'Christmas' would insult those who are not (Christian) believers. What a travesity! But having said that there are a lot of Irish/British etc., unbelievers who still are ok with 'Happy Christmas'. Hope we never have to drop that here. It would really make me angry.

I am a Hindu/Buddhist. I am very happy on Christmas because my Christian friends are happy. Its a joyous occasion. The smile and happiness on my Christian friends makes me celebrate the day with them. I don't like to differentiate myself from others due to my race or religion. We all believe in something so we are all believers! Have a grand Merry Christmas.

Well said horsemaster, and thank you. Don't forget to let me know when your biggest festival is and I will wish you a happy one too! Sorry I'm not well up in Hindu/Buddhist festivals. Now my Jewish friend really know how to do a festival, Hanukkah goes on for 8 days!! And one Christmas Day can wear me out, how'd I be after 8 days! Bless all! :)

Loath though I am to say it we are approaching that time of year again. The offer I posted in the firstpost still holds true. PM me if you fancy a glass of sherry. :)

We could go around chanting "Burn the Goat" and sipping wild cherry brandy and stuff I suppose, just to get into the swing of things.

The real question I want to ask though is if there is anyone here going to be alone this christmas?

PM me if you wish. Maybe I could pop around to anyone Dublin based with a mince pie and glass of sherry, just to say hello. :)

    BUMP

This years offer is a visit via the ethernetz-webZoomTwitch&Discord thingy. I'm pretty sure a suitable socially distanced sherry and mince pie could be arranged with a little forward planning. :)

Greetings, all you Oulwans and Oulfellas. Why did you have to mention mince pies? I have a longing for one now!

My MIL said that, as a child, she knew Christmas was coming when the lettering on milk cartons, newspapers, shops, etc would have snow on the top . Always think of her when this time of year rolls around. I learned a lot from her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 971 ✭✭✭Jellybaby_1

This time of the year himself keeps telling me how many weeks/days it is until Christmas! Terrifies me! Bake the cake, feed the cake, boil the puddin, order the turkey, order the ham, freeze the breadcrumbs, write the shopping list, check the Christmas card list (shorter again this year), a few presents, who's coming, who's not, who can't and who won't! Exhausted already. :(
