Think LA Knight was the right choice. He seems to embody the role better while Cameron isn't exactly as classy.

Was thinking they're basically paying 3 people for Xia Li so either they have to start using the others or they really have faith in Xia, And then they start using the other 2.

Was wondering why it was taking so long after the main event for the show to end. Hope that's not the end of Regal. Maybe he'll just get an assistant GM. I'm sure they have someone that could take on the role.

The main event felt like a lot of covering for Kross. Seemed he would attack everyone, followed by them all ganging up on him to take him out for a few minutes.
Good job everyone wasn't as weak as they were a couple weeks ago when Cole managed to take them all out.

Was wondering who could compete for the women's tag titles now?

With the rumours of Samoa Joe coming back to next could he be the new GM,push regal onto raw or smackdown

    They have Pearce and Deville

Kross might be the most 7/10 wrestler ever. Just kinda decent across the board but won't go above that. He'll live and die by the reaction Scarlett gets for him on the main roster.

Joe as nxt GM could be great

Reckon a load of call ups will happen for the draft after summerslam and you could name who needs it most

Decent Takeover, probably one of the weaker ones imo.
Hope it doesn't mean the end of Regal as much as having Joe as the GM would be sick, shame he seemingly won't be wrestling though.
Just to track the trajectory of Joe, the final injury that was the nail in the coffin for him was filming a F'n commercial for WWE with a table bump. That is depressing. Especially cause if I remember the commercial just looked like it was totally green screened anyway.

At least it sounds like they might shake-up NXT a bit which is desperately needed, I do wonder who is even left for Kross at this stage though. Walter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,284 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Regal was great as GM as he had the presence as well as mic skills. (Though don't think he ever learned how to say Umaga's name)
Joe wouldn't take any sh!t either but how would he be in a position of power?

They need to move him up as soon as possible imo. He suits the main roster far more than NXT imo and you could probably just push him into a feud with someone like Sheamus or Drew for Summerslam and then go after Lashley or whoever the champion is after that.

I'm not even sure who can beat him in NXT. They're not going to put the title on Walter so either you bring someone down to NXT for a while or you just have Kross relinquish the belt going I've has enough of this and I'm moving up. The only guys you can put in a program with Kross that he hasnt beaten yet are Reed and Kushida imo.

    Demon Finn Balor ?

Possibly, but always got the impression Balor didn't have much interest in doing that again. Like the four others in the match of Gargano, Cole, O'Reilly and Dunne, I don't really see the threat any of them have for Kross even though they're all better wrestlers. Moving him on allows those guys to put on excellent matches with each other too for the title.

probably end up in a three way match and get belt of him that way

Joe is back and already has refreshed NXT

Think he's a Co GM with Regal

If LA Knight continues on this curve he'll be the best thing going in the company.

Yeah he's been booked really well. I was worried for him a while back when he was losing to Bronson Reed but it's all worked out quite well. Nice push and exposure for Cameron Grimes here too.

I get the feeling that Knight has studied The Rock. He has a lot of similar mannerisms, even his stomps look like The Rock's.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,211 ✭✭✭LineOfBeauty

I watched the Takeover and it was just the most "that's a show" show I've ever seen. The matches were mostly good, the effort of the wrestlers was always high but nothing that happens on this brand matters anymore, nothing feels significant, nothing feels like it resonates in the wider wrestling universe (the polar opposite of what Takeover's used to be) and it seems to exist in its own little bubble which can just be ignored. I dunno, this felt like, if not the worst, but the most insignificant Takeover ever.

The first time I've seen him as a clip from last nights show, and I'd actually agree. His mannerisms are very reminiscent of Rock.

Once he doesn’t become a parody of the rock it’s fine, but yes I like him and there’s worse wrestlers to borrow from than the rock.

Is Samoa Joe completely done in ring wrestling?

You’d have to think he’s not given that Daniel Bryan and Christian have both come back from concussion issues, which is what Samoa joe is reportedly sidelined with.

Thought NXT was pretty great this week and hopefully this is the start of some rejuvenation for the brand cause it definitely needs it. Still wondering who is going to challenge Cross. I reckon Dakota is going to turn on Raquel pretty soon though.

All the Joe stuff was excellent although William Regal deserves serious props, what an amazing promo and performance. As for if Joe is done in the ring? I would assume not but imagine he will be on a very limited basis. I think they'll play that up and we get an unsanctioned match at some point. Really interested to see where it goes though and hoping that they can put together a decent card for Great American Bash in a few weeks.

William regal has always been great and is one of the most under appreciated wrestlers of his generation. I say under appreciated because he’s not underrated IMO. He’s a genius at pro wrestling.

Couldn't agree more, I meant in particular his acting chops, was seriously impressed. Glad he's sticking around too.

Strange for that to be the case.

Was actually wondering recently what happened Rust and Bivens.
And now I'm wondering if their slogan about being a "Diamond in the Rust" was a coincidence.

There was a rumour/report that it would be made up of former MMA guys.

I thought that was what the battery charging was leading up to. I guess not at the speed the charge was going..

I'd say Robert Stone being yapped at wasn't planned but they kept it in. Unless they have the dog trained to do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,221 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Internet is saying the battery charging promos are for Tegan Nox's return.

Great another Cole vs Kyle match at the GAB

Feel Strongs new stable could be UE lite but never know

Loving Joe as the co GM

Is the guy in hit row the same guy who presents Most wanted treasures ?

NXT Breakout Tournament starting in 2 weeks so will get some new faces.

2 of the remaining 205 guys getting matches, though basically in jobber capacity.

Johnny's promo was a bit face like before Austin attacked.

After ones saying about the weak punches before, definitely can't say that about Xia's kicks when she seemed to genuinely knock Mercedes out. Not a good thing, I know since she's injured people in the past.

    Think Grimes will lose.

Looks like the battery will be charged next week.

    As for the title match
Surprised at that. Figured they would give Bronson a longer run. Maybe there's a reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

    Bronson is
    main roster bound.

Is Zoey Stark a big indie name? She already looks and moves way better than 95% of the women.

Shouldn't blame the victim....but....shouldn't Mercedes Martinez just put her hand or forearm up and not take it flush? No need to stick her chin out and take it flush.

    https://streamable.com/mxa6uo

I hope Xia Li doesn't change her finisher because it's class.

There isn't a bigger dork in wrestling today than Kyle O'Reilly. I cannot stand him and his 2002 haircut. Clown.

Karrion Kross is gonna get Marc Mero'd with Scarlett on the main roster. Crowds will only care about her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,284 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Zoey joined the same time as a few other indie women. I'm not familiar with her but she went by Lacey Ryan. Think was the time of the tag tournament. The others have only appeared occasionally since the tournament

Sh1t happens but Xia has history, that's the problem. I'm sure Martinez isn't the type to make a fuss but there are other women who will baulk at that.

She doesn’t need to change her finish J but like others have said it’s not the first time she’s dinged her opponent and to me it’s not a massive change, it’s just she needs to lighten up slightly or change how she does it.

After the tease last week on NXT UK for Blair Davenport, it was revealed this week that it's the WWE name for Bea Priestley, as rumoured.

With Walter's limited appearances these days I'd say Dragunov could take the title off him next time.

Seeing the various flags by the wrestlers' names, I was thinking this would be better named something like NXT International, though I know it's mostly UK ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,284 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

This week's 205 Live was used for qualifying rounds of the Breakout Tournament. Matches were:
    Guru Raaj vs. Andre Chase
    Desmond Troy vs. Joe Gacy

Next week will be more qualifying matches

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭ThePott

Caught up on NXT. Definitely feel like it's picked up momentum over the last while.
The Xia Li kick was ugly, hope Mercedes is alright. It was scary to see her plant on the mat like that.
Gargano vs. Kross is a weird one. I don't need Gargano as champ ever again as much as I think the Way has gotten better but I do wonder if they're preparing for Kross to move to the roster and need him to drop it.
Glad to Swerve getting a title too, he's great and I think Hit Row has potential. As much as I'd like if Bronson Reed had a longer run.

Great American Bash has a solid if not stellar card. I do think it could set up NXT for the next few months though. Assuming the battery charge promos are Tegan Nox and she's going to come back to feud with Dakota/Raquel with their history. Eventually leading to a Raquel/Dakota feud.
Looking forward to the Breakout tournament too as NXT needs some fresh faces especially if they are going to get raided soon. Even if they couldn't mention who won it last time around.

So I guess no one talks to HHH about plans? A multiple week tease to bring Tegan back and looking like a feud with Candace only to then bring her to Smackdown a couple nights later

It’s evident with some recent decisions that’s vince is making the calls and if they line up with what HHH is doing on nxt then great, but if not then tough ****. Nice to see Mandy rose back in NXT and she’s escaped the main roster make up cannon.
