Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Almost 10% of their feedback is negative lately. It's being sent from China, I'd be very weary of that. Having to return it for the refund would be pointless, PayPal has gone to the dogs lately in that regard.

    Refund issued :)

So the first one I posted here appears to have been a scam. The seller has changed his/her username from 'daydayup3.0' and made their feedback private then disappeared. Also did the same on their other account 'daydayup2.0'.

There's no tracking outside China so it's fairly straight forward to get a refund if you just say it never arrived. I'm not paying €39 for a paperweight.

Just for confirmation as i think i'll buy via the ebay merchant, this unit has access to the play store ?

It does yes but the store on it is not the same as it is on mobile. The apps have to be designed for android TV before they are added to the store by Google.

You can sideload APKs of any apps that don't have official ATV apps yet though.

I bought one of these on a chinese site. It's a great box.

However I thought I was getting a good deal. Box cost 63 euro and quick dhl shipping was cheap.

However what I did not know was that dhl charge a minimum of 14.50 for handling customs.

The vat I was expecting. But not this charge

So the box ultimately cost me about 90 euro.

Quite likely you might have been caught 10 euro handling for 4 week snail mail, but virtually certain on anything over the 26 euro exemption couriers will "shop" their customers - that 14.50 is a powerful incentive.

I'd be careful - that site domain expires at the end of December and they run a couple of management consultancies from the same location.

I used them last year. They had a black friday/cyber monday offer and I bought my first Mi Box from them. Never had any issues. They are also active on Reddit.
    https://www.reddit.com/user/TSS_CR

@dinky earnshow if you're on reddit you could always message them and ask if they will have a Mi Box offer on Friday to save you some time.

ionorchard on ebay is also reliable. I've bought mi boxes and phones from him. Just get it delivered to Parcel Motel/Wizard to take advantage of the free UK delivery and it works out cheaper.

I see in the specs that there's bluetooth on this device. Does anyone know if it supports audio output? So I can use it with bluetooth headphones or speakers?

Yes you can. There is an 'Add Accessory' option in the settings section where you can scan for and add Bluetooth devices. I use my Anker speaker.

This is a guy from Ireland works out at 80 quid. Have bought from him before plus you will have it in 2 days and no nasty surprise from customs. https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Xiaomi-Mi-Box-4K-Google-Android-6-0-TV-BOX-HDR-International-Ver-Voice-Remote/122355472779?hash=item1c7cf4598b:g:LdoAAOSwbF1aAgpX

Says its the global version alright, but what makes you think you'll avoid customs? It's being sent from outside the EU and the value is over the limit, so you definitely run the risk of being charged.

Because Tomtop pay the customs for you. There was a good bit of discussion about them a few months back. I ordered off them before and value was 40, and did not have to pay.

Bought it just now for about 58.50. Seems a good price. I left a message asking to they cover customs when making the purchase. Hopefully they will inform us if they do not cover it, in which case I'll seek a refund.

DO I NEED TO PAY IMPORT TAXES AND TARIFFS?
Many countries do not charge import duties on private items below a certain stated value. However, you may find that you have to pay taxes when goods you’ve ordered from us arrive in your country.
Electronic items are the most commonly taxed items, if you are ordering a phone or tablet we strongly recommend you to check.
TOMTOP can’t give you advice or information about tax rates and customs charges in your country.
We advise you to find out about the local regulations prior to ordering from us. You can also request a low value declaration to help avoid any taxes.
Please note that ALL import taxes / duties are the buyer’s responsibility. Tomtop is not responsible for any tax invoice charged on its products.

ionorchard on ebay is sold out now too. Cheapest, quickest and most reliable way to get one might be thesolutionshop.co.uk if they have a BF/CM sale. €78 delivered at the minute.

Never ordered off geekbuying before, but they have been around a good while so should be ok. Coming from a Spanish warehouse too, so customs should not be an issue.
They say they cover the return costs for any repair in the first month (customer has to cover the cost after that). Looks ok, I am thinking of going for it as well.
Anyone here used geekbuying before, are they reliable?

I did not see this thread before. I posted in the other 2.

It is €51.90 on Geekbuying using th code GEEKBUYING
    https://www.geekbuying.com/item/-Official-International-Version--XIAOMI-Mi-Box-4K-H-265-Android-Box-371297.html

It is €45.90 on Banggood but the page is having some problems. Keep checking back or try refreshing the page and it might be fixed
    https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Mi-Box-Amlogic-S905X-2GB-RAM-8GB-ROM-TV-Box-International-Version-p-1182281.html

Edited - I have ordered from both many times. Geekbuying customer support can be clumsy, but they do try to fix any issues amicably. They will refund and spend time on issues. I think banggood are great, for every issue i have ever had with them, it has been remedied very quickly.

On Banggood, when you open link,it's showing as $52.99,then jumps to €66.97, wonder why?
On Geekbuying, the code results in this message:This coupon code has ultimately reached the limitation usage times

Yeah, it seems to have reached it's limit. I will look for another. They usually release 3-4 codes for the same item. I guess so that they can track their traffic.

The Banggood one is frustrating :D. That has happened before on another item. Sometimes when things calm down it works again. I think it will drop in a few other places this week too. I am sure i saw a Lightintbox promotion coming but i cannot find it in my history or anywhere.
I have the link so i was definitely viewing the page, but cannot find the promotion link

I bought one from geek buying in August. Took about 3 weeks to arrive (then got nabbed by customs).

Mine plays fine. But only on short cable (less than 2m) and on TV inputs 1 and 3. It won't play Netflix when it's connected to TV Input 2, nor when I am using longer cable...

I thought the Mi box was the next best box to the Nvidia Shield? I was thinking of ordering it later, but what's all this about log cable problems and Netflix now buffering? Is it because it a cheap Chinese version or what?

    1) If you are on wifi and far from router, its an issue. Get an ethernet adapter and plug straight in
    2) Go to PP settings and turn on HW decoding

No, it's down to DRM. A slight signal quality drop over dodgy cable might throw Netflix onto thinking the stream is captured.
