Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    YASSS!
Patric should be ashamed of himself but this is great for the league.....hopefully

Napoli dominating roma. Dzeko getting little support.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I'm amazed Jorginho can't get a game for Italy. Even more so when I see De Rossi on the pitch against him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

That was some save by reina.

Surprising that the two away sides won. I wouldn't have thought so.

Man City vs Napoli has the potential to be an absolute belter on Tuesday.

Napoli I think will win Serie A this season.

    What a team to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,041 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

They are a great team to watch, but they're almost always worse in the second half.

Roma dominated the second half last night, but just couldn't score.

Such a great finish by Icardi there even I'll admit that through gritted teeth.
Milan look lost; as they have all season under Montella. Now Perisic is getting at the out of his depth on 2 levels Borini

    What a game

Words cant describe how good this match is

Think Bonucci & Biglia have been absolutely awful, considering they were meant to bring some experience to the team they have made it worse.
Spaletti has made Inter into a team Milan in comparison look like they only just met.

    Icardi hat-trick, 3-2 FT!

    Icardi's 2nd is well worth a look:

Icardi's second was gorgeous. I also liked Suso's goal. I did think the penalty award was very soft though. You see similar stuff or worse than what Rodriguez did in the box at every corner.

Always though Milan's recruitment in the summer was everhyped.

    Bonucci should come good though.

    - Andre Silva another overhyped player from Porto. No pace either.
    - Rodriguez at LB delivers some decent set pieces but has been poor a few a while now.
    - Kessie & Conte both just one season at the top level they will need time.

Not enough pace in the Milan squad.

This kid is the real deal. Give him time. He's 21 and he's been at AC Milan for five minutes. I don't think his pace is that bad either tbh.

What has pace got to do with it
    Its not Fifa buddy
    He isnt even that slow

My Bro follows Italian football, has done for decades.

Has been telling me recently how entertaining some of the teams are this season.

I watched the highlights of Juve Lazio and now the Milan derby, and isn't it sad that there is still a huge belief in Ireland/UK that Italian football is negative and boring.

Those folk are still talking about the pool v Utd game at the weekend too.

    Could't agree more
Six players scored more than 20 goals to five in England
Its the same with La Liga those who watch the smaller teams are shocked how often there is a exciting game

Not just Ireland, it's pretty much prevalent everywhere.

Imo it's one of the most entertaining competitions around these days, if not the most entertaining.

Problem for them will be if a few injuries and when the season gets passed February. I think they will tire and fall away.

Will be interesting to see how they fare against the free-scoring Man City in the CL this week.

Roma looked great tonight going forward, but it's clear to see why they're not top 3 so far in the league. Shocking at the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

First vs second coming up shortly. Here are the teams:
Napoli XI: Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne.

Inter XI: Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Skriniar, Miranda, Nagatomo; Gagliardini, Borja Valero, Vecino; Candreva, Icardi, Perisic.

Tough one to call. I'll sit on the fence and say a draw.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

There's something about Napoli when they've a chance to show a bit of conviction at the top of the table they tend to bottle it. That coupled with midweek exertions would male me side with inter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

    Insigne is great to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Handanovic made some important saves to keep it goalless at half-time. Looks like Callejon is in some discomfort with his knee. Wonder if he will be out for the 2nd half.

    Update: Callejon is involved.

Not sure to credit Inter or criticise Napoli for them being ineffective in the second half. I can nearly see Inter knicking a goal on the break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Handanovic MOTM for me. He's kept Inter in the game.

Update: Full-Time and it ends 0-0. It was a cagey game but I didn't think it was as bad as that scoreline might suggest. Handanovic made good saves to earn the point. Good chance for Juve and Lazio to close the gap tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Bonucci letting down Milan today, I'm so surprised
1 win, 1 draw & 4 defeats in the last 6 in the league now. I can only think Montella is still employed cause they can get nobody else.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

We're probably the worst performing side in Europe when you consider money spent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Juve scored 6 and not one of those was from their front 4.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Immobile with another 2 goals, he's going for Signori's record :pac:

Khedira hattrick. Must be a first.

    Stunning result for Juventus.

Immobile is in great form for Lazio and I'm glad Ireland won't have to face him in the play-offs, although I see Cornelius got the winner for Atalanta and I believe we could wind up against him in a few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,635 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Have to say Spalletti has done a great job with Inter so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,635 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I dont really know what to think of Icardi.

He's goal scoring record is super but he's overall play is just poor

Wow this Milan team is really really bad

Some waste of money during the summer

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

    Individuality & Luck 2-0 Chievo.
It's such a badly managed team though. Why the f**k are they playing with a back 3 & not dropping poor performing players?

What a job Simone Inzaghi is doing at Lazio. Reappointing him when Bielsa walked was a stroke of luck for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Milan vs Juventus should be a good one on Saturday with both coming off 4-1 wins.

Can't wait. Thank Juve will win easily enough though. Be interesting to see Leo B v his old team.

You'll have to wait until March at the least to see this

Him being out is probably a good thing for Milan at this stage. Both these teams have been poor defensively this term though. I'd fancy Juve considering Milan's utter failure of every difficult test this season so far

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Yeah wouldn't hold out the slightest bit of hope for Milan.

I agree. Italian teams are no longer the defensive outfits they were in the 90's and 00's plenty of good attacking football these days look at teams like Napoli and Lazio these days and you'll find thats no longer the case.
