Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For some reason thouht Lisa Ashton was the one from last year that won the games with the massive hype but obv not. If Lisa does win the hype will be much the same

Nah it wont be the same. Yes, Sky will be overbearing about it but Sherrock was young, good looking, was the first to do it and had a "story" behind her. Sherrock got mainstream attention across the globe, Ashton wouldn't.

Ashton has a very good action.

    C'mon Lisa !! Fantastic darts

Squeaky-bum time for both of them I'd say.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Class game this so far. Although they both keep hitting bad scores at same time

    Edit: Busts 130

First time seeing Hunt and like what i'm seeing. Very measured player but needs a bit of work on consistency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,671 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Aaargh, that's disappointing. Can't blame Hunt though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,981 ✭✭✭Degag

Have to think that if the crowd was there it may have gone the other way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Ashton was excellent in fairness, she'd have beaten a lot of other players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,981 ✭✭✭Degag

Thoughts on this one? I have Portela in the last leg of my accy. Think it might be close but that he'll probably lose out so will be keeping an eye on the cash out.

Not a fan of Durrant I must say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭ThebitterLemon

Durrant won’t last long in this competition

I’d say most would fancy their chances in his current form

    TbL

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Very bad game this, Durrant throwing Muck, Portela confidence gone. No idea what Durrant is at leaving his darts in the board

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    12 matches so far.

2 players have averaged over 95. Both in same match, Dobey and Smith.

Meanwhile 12 have averaged in the 80s.

Slow start to say the least.

Durrant i feel is a player who really feeds off the crowd. Think he may suffer more than most with the no-fan situation

I've watched every game so far.

Considering some of the darts I've seen I'm amazed that nobody has averaged in the 70s.

Did I dream it or did Glen not get a shot at a double with 3 darts and 41 left!!!

    TbL

Portela just dipped to 79.63 in the end!!

We have had an 80.48 and an 81.03 also.

Still has an uncanny knack of nailing it after he's made the cock up
Could be a great game , Ross Smith is well able to play when his game is on, beat Nathan Aspinall at the Players Champs Finals a few weeks ago in a high quality affair

Dave Clark is such a loss, he was a great host

Laura Woods and the other blone hosts are not a bad thing but any means :D:D

I think Laura is very good, knowledgeable bout the darts and not afraid to crack jokes and take the piss out of the other commentators/players.

I have to agree that the standard has been poor so far but I reckon it's a combination of there being no crowd and the nerves of a World Championships. It will definitely pick up.

The Durrant Portela match last night was torture, both were terrible, anyone else would have beaten Duzza.

i think it's basically the standard gap between the tour card holders and the qualifiers is getting bigger

The regular tour players eg Rydz, Razma, Smith , Hopp etc.. have all won without playing great against very average qualifers

Looks like I spoke too soon looking at this Foulkes fella .... playing out of his skin

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Great win for Foulkes, really good performance from him. Completely unexpected.

I hope Ilagan the nutjob gets through the next one!

What ye think of the boxer commentator on the darts I cannot think of he's name.
He's probably just In For the early rounds of darts.

If ye listened to him in the darts and closed your eyes you would swear it was a boxing match lol.

Well I can say thinking it's an F1 race definitely doesn't happen when Crofty is commentating!

Good game this. Ilagan just missed a dart to 2-1 up in sets, Murray then checks out to take the set and lead 2-1.

There's never a dull moment watching Ilagan

Time for the crucial battle between North and South.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Bad news for Willie as it looks as if Gurney has regained his form as he takes the first set 3-1 with a 101 avg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Jaysus, picked some day to get back to the form he's shown no sign of for 6 months....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,880 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Gurney has a head for smacking

Was O Connor the last Irish (Republic of Ireland) player left ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    Not over yet....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,880 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Talked too soon

Willie as usual not consistent enough.

    TbL

Great fight back to get back in the match but fell apart in the final set. Had his chances. I think a bit of sports psychology could really help his game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Good opening set there from Krcmar similar average to when he lost narrowly to Michael Smith recently
