Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Never seen Gassiev hurt amateur or pro. I think if he can eat up Dorticos shots early (big if) his constant pressure is going to be too much for Dorticos. I think the Kalenga fight was telling. Dorticos won but he was blowing out of his arse from the 6th on and taking more and more clean shots as he tired and his legs got heavy.

Not sure there's a better body puncher in the sport than Gassiev (Spence, Inoue, GGG up there too). I think it'll be nip and tuck early with Dorticos maybe shading it but I see Gassiev slowing him down going to the body and and taking Dorticos out in the second half of the fight. Potential to be proper fireworks in the mid-rounds. Could be fight of the year imo.

I'm not sure about this TBH. There was a serious pace to that Kalenga fight and both were throwing bombs from the first bell. If anything I think the fight proved Dorticos had a great Gas tank (and chin). Can Gassiev keep up with that kind of pace? He'll have to as Dorticos will force the pace.

I can’t pick this...if Dorticos can’t hurt Gassiev he loses.

    1-1 now.

Gassiev showing better defense than I've credited him for.

Gassiev’s D and ring use are very efficient here.

2-1 Dorticos. he has a Beautiful jab when he uses it.

    Rd 3 to Dort.

His jab is really beginning to dominate, but his right is very obvious.

Dort seems to have no problem pushing the tank back..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭megadodge

    3-1 Dort.

Gassiev being pushed back is really robbing him of his power. His punches have no effect on Dort.

iron chin Dorticos, he's not flinching from big Gassiev hooks.
3-1 Dorticos for me but could be 2-2

Cracking fight so far imo, I'd have 3-1 to Dorticos

Gassievs body work and Dorticos volume so far have me favouring Gassiev if this goes late

3-2 Dorticos but Gassiev looks to be taking over.
Dorticos needs to go back to the jab.

    Good round 5 for Gassiev.

Interesting to see if that changes the dynamic, cos it was looking like Dort was beginning to dominate.

6th was very tight. Maybe Gassiev.

Hard fight to call at this stage.

    I have it 3-3 after 6.
Gassiev starting to show a nice jab and holding the middle of the ring.

3-3 for me but Dorticos looks more tired

Dort's work is too one-dimensional, esp as his jab is not landing with the same frequency now.

Tight round but I give that to Dorticos, just got back to his jab and controlled the ring.
    4-3 Dorticos for me.

Anyone thinking it’s kind of stale? Same repetitive attacks and flow...very little shots landing clean..

Dorticos is getting nothing past the guard. Gassiev's work has been very clean I think.

Rounds getting hard to score. I'll give Dort the 8th but it's very tight.

    4-4 to me.

8th is a clear Dorticos round. Gassiev gassing?
5-3 for me but could be 4-4.

Does Dorticos not know how to throw an uppercut?

Dort clearly won the 8th with activity

Have it 5-3 Gassiev as well but could easily be 4-4.

Gassiev's body shots have taken the steam out of Dorticos. Nowhere near the same bang on those punches anymore.

    Big round for Gassiev.
5-4 Dort but it could be the same score the other way.

hard to mark the 9th. Dort really dominated for the first 2 mins but Gass landed very obvious punches in the last minute.

    Even.

The crowd roaring any time Gassiev even appears to land could decide the verdict..

Good round from gassiev, I have him 5 4 up. Dorticos is too predictable and he's lost a bit of pop as well. Unless gassiev's tank empties he should see this out.

I'm surprised at how basic Dorticos looks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭megadodge

Good round 10 for Gassiev. Dorticos has some chin on him. He just needs to throw something other than predictable 1-2s.

I'm going round by round here and have it 5-5 but I gave two close rounds to Dorticos.
    Dorticos is made of steel

How many times has Gassiev sneaked that left hook in behind the guard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,012 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Ya, Ive it 7-3 to Gassiev but some close rounds. Dorticos has some chin though, I think most of the other guys in the WBSS would be on the ground by now

F*ck that was a good round.
Dort dominating, but then in spite of how he recovered, he was hurt. Was it enough to give Gassiev the round?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,012 ✭✭✭✭titan18

That left uppercut followed by right hook was a beauty. No idea how he didn't hit the ground after it
