Yes - since Nov 2015 you can only add an extra €250000 i.e. if you had €250000 worth of PBs before that, you could hold a max of €500000 worth. If you had none before Nov 2015 you can only have €250000 worth.

€50 for me today, which makes 3 in the last 4 draws. Before that I went 11 draws with no win.

A six and two fives? Is that 16 wins this year, seems like a great return?

Yes, that's 16 wins for those three batches this year and is in and around the .5% which is not bad but compared to the previous three years its getting worse and will probably be worse in 2019

    2017: 19 wins 11,7 and a 1

    2016: 28 wins 12,10 and 6

    2015: 29 wins 11 and two 9s

For me personally I'm in the process of reviewing my finance's atm and I don't think Prize bonds will be featuring in my investments portfolio beyond 2019 :(

I have over 130k invested -3 x 50 this year a big difference to you and a total waste of time I'm afraid!

It would seem so, with that amount you should be in and around the .5% mark
but unfortunately it is a game of chance and sometimes you win but now its more often that you don't.

When I first invested in PBs back in Feb 13 the prize fund was 2.25% of a nearly 1.7 billion fund which was roughly 271 million bonds chasing 9168 weekly prizes, today there is at least 543 million bonds chasing 4519 weekly prizes.

Even if the NTMA decided to increase the percentage of the prize fund my guess is they would reinstate the monthly million prizes first which is not going to make a difference to any of us here, unless of course you win the million

Yes I agree with everything said above, only interest rates are so bad there's not much point in the money being put somewhere else.

Nothing this week, only 2 wins (2x€50s) in the entire year on €60,000, 30k batch, 20k batch and 10k batch, the 10k batch purchased in 2017 has never won anything.

I've a nice chunk put into this, as savings elsewhere are not amounting to much. Coming up to 1 year and I've got €50 so far.

If I want to put more money into prize bonds, what's the easiest way? Do I have to fill out the application form again and send it in?

  • Registered Users Posts: 714 ✭✭✭Agent Smyth

Wow, another win for me today €50 seem to be ending the year on a high note
Todays win is from a €1500 batch that hasn't had a win in two years
and iirc the win before that was two years before that as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 657 ✭✭✭Andrew Flexing

Todays win is from a €1500 batch

    Nice one!

I just dont win anymore, I basically stopped winning last time they changed the prizes, think I have €150 altogether this year on a 60k house deposit that I parked in bonds.

Assuming we don’t win anything between now and year-end, our 2018 yield is 2 x €50 wins from an investment pool of €8600.
    Meh.

Not bad at all in view of other posts - 130K = €150, 60K = €150. Be thankful for small mercies!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,670 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

€60K is far too small. You would need a few tens of millions to consistently produce the expected return, 0.35%.

€60K should win €210, call that 4 prizes in a year. But it might win 2 or it might win 6.
