Got the Platinum in AC Odyssey, even though I finished the main story last year at some stage. Does that count? :D

First game of 2020 to complete (well the 30hour campaign) is Borderlands 3.

Bland enough story, some funny parts but as always with a looter shooter it’s the end game and loot that’ll keep me coming back.

Loads of side missions to go back to as well.

    Jedi Fallen Order on PS4.

Heard it was buggy but didn't really have that problem. If I glitched through something it was when I was falling off something anyway. It crashed once but so did Spider-Man.
I found the game itself pretty hard and have some complaints but overall found it to be a good game.

I think the game was patched quickly enough to fix it. I experienced little-to-no bugs during my playthrough.

Pure B-game but a really fun one. It's a third person shooter by the Yakuza team. It's got an interesting setting and some good hard sci fi elements the game unfortunately never really follows through on. Some of the dialogue and moments in the game are just bizarre and insane but it kind of works with the strange campy vibe the game has. The combat though is really fun. The robots make great enemies and they just fall apart beautifully when being shot. The game keeps things interesting with a number of inventive set pieces. Some on the rail sections don't work that well and there's a fun annoying boss fights but overall it's a great if not brilliant game that is worth playing for how weird and interesting it is.

Be warned, the PC port is totally half arsed. It wouldn't work with my licensed third party xbox controller, it took me ages to get it working in the correct aspect ratio and mouse aiming doesn't feel great.

Got this a good few years ago , thought the same as you great but flawed. Loved the combat in it.

    GAME Flower
    PLATFORM PS4

Ah lads. I didn't enjoy this one at all. Two major issues for me.

The motion controls (which I think is mandatory) and the awkward camera. I know, I'm complaining about a game where I'm controlling flower petals in the air. I shouldn't be that bothered.... and I'm not.

For one thing, the game is beautiful. It looks stunning in 4K as well.

But for me, that's as far as it went. I felt like I was fighting with the camera and controls all the time. I was under the impression Flower was a bit of a zen game - one to relax with. But after the 3rd level I was just becoming frustrated. I'd sometimes miss something which meant I had to stop and turn around, and that's where I started getting sick of it.

Not for me. I tend to avoid games that are exclusively motion-contolled, and this couldn't be a better example.

(Why did I keep playing it? Because I thought maybe it would get better and I felt I'd have an entitled opinion if I played it to the end. I owed it that much - it wasn't long anyway. Took me a couple of hours... if that)

    Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Borderlands 3: Moxxi's Heist DLC - Decent chunk of content which gave me a good reason to jump back into BL3. Would have appreciated some new additions to the skill tree or some more new loot, as it is the DLC does very little (if anything) to change the meta, so for someone like myself who only runs one character and hasa god build on said character, this DLC unfortunately done nothing to add to the longevity of the game for me. Good fun though while it lasts.

Control - Phenomenal stuff. I'm a huge fan of Remedy's work (though admittedly Quantum Break wasn't amazing, though I think that was more a result of Microsoft's TV TV TV attitude at the time it was being developed), but this is by far their best game to date. It's bat**** crazy, even by Remedy's already trippy standards, and the gameplay itself, which I usually find to be the weakest aspect of Remedy's games, is nigh on perfect.

Probably would have been my game of the year last year had I played in 2019.

    Thank you!

I keep thinking I'm crazy but I'm not the only one it seems.

Did not enjoy Flower at all. Everyone said it was a fantastic relaxing experience. I found it a profoundly frustrating one as like you I was constantly wrestling with the awful motion controls. Did not enjoy it one bit. It's also a wee bit pretentious. I'd have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the controls.

I'd even throw more shade at it because I didn't enjoy any of ThatGameCompany's games that it put me off trying Journey for a very long time. I ended up loving Journey.

    Deadly Creatures on Wii.
Game was grand. Camera took a bit of getting used to and was a bit disorienting at times.

Gears 5 on PC. Thought it was quite good after not liking the fourth one.

Think i'll go for Children Of Morta or Hellblade next.

I've completed two games over the last few weeks. The main one being Horizon Zero Dawn & The Frozen Wilds DLC that I enjoyed a lot. The setting and story were interesting, the gameplay enjoyable if nothing particularly new and I enjoyed getting the platinum trophy as there wasn't a huge amount of ridiculous collectibles to get.

I also played and got all trophies for Little Nightmares and the three DLC chapters in between playing HZD. It's a puzzle game that's enjoyable but it did have it's issues, especially the load times after dying which almost made me give up on the game. It was well worth the €7.99 I paid for the complete edition.

    Gato Roboto

A bite size Metroidvania. The best thing about it is that it's only about 3 hours long because it really doesn't do a whole lot special. Fine for a quick blast but it really doesn't stand out. Don't get the high praise for this one

    Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

A game of two halves. Really enjoyed the main storyline. The stealth gameplay worked so well in bite sized chunks and the smaller mission areas. It really feels like a follow up to the MGS VR mission pack.

Then there's the post game. This involves countless missions against vehicles and boss enemies which just aren't fun. I know the game was trying to emulate monster hunter but they just aren't that fun and there is an insane amount of them with very little variation between them. I'd much rather more stealth missions as they were way more fun and the game had a lot of fun with a few of them.

Batman Arkham Knight[PS4] - a good game but not a great one. Too many BS areas especially involving the batmobile. The biggest plus for me was Mark Hamill as the joker. He was genuinely hilarious at times.

    Black Mesa

Hoooooly moly, what an utterly amazing remake of one of the greatest shooters of all time!
It's so damn good, like how I imagined Half-Life in my head.
Xen is just utterly beautiful, and the chase sequences are heart-pounding.

Only negatives are that it has a tendency to crash (it's stretching the Source engine to the limit)
And the AI is a littqle too accurate - I played on Normal and died in many, many firefights. However, this has the net effect of making the game properly tense - running out of ammo for a weapon can happen, and I love it!

I just finished Batman: The Enemy Within. I enjoyed it, the last two episodes were very good, the first three dragged a little bit though. As with all Telltale games, there is very little gameplay involved, it's all about the story which luckily ends up being enjoyable.

    Borderlands 3: Moxxi's Heist DLC
    Control

A Plague Tale: Innocence - A solid 7 out of 10 experience for me. Great narrative, well thought characters with solid voice acting, and fun gameplay once you hit a certain point in the narrative.

Not sure I fully understand The Last of Us comparisons I've seen thrown around online. At its core, this is a puzzle game, a simple one at that but still a puzzle game. There is stealth in there, which I suppose is where the majority of The Last of Us comparisons stem from (along with the fact that it's one big escort mission), but even the stealth sections are more puzzle sections than anything else. If I was to compare it's core gameplay to anything, it would be the optional challenge tombs in the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy; environmenatal puzzles are the name of the game here.

I usually have a love/hate realationship with puzzle games as I really love them, but hate feeling like I'm banging my head off a wall for hours on end. But this wasn't the case here, the mechanics are all well explained as they are introduced and drip fed to you, meaning there is little room for confusion or frustration to get in the way of the very enjoyable story.

    [Xbox One]

    Borderlands 3

Great game took me a while to get used to the visual changes from previous games as I had just replayed Borderlands 1 and 2 prior to release of this. I actually finished the main story a couple of months ago but was just doing side missions slowly for some reason until I got hooked on the game again and flew through a fair bit of them. Mayhem 4 is not too bad to play solo once I got a tonne of Level 50 legendarys.

I stopped myself playing any more until there is a new level cap. Wasted XP is the reason I keep telling myself even though it is such a great game. Saying that though some days I jump in for a few rounds here and there.

I finished and for the platinum for Forgotten Anne last night. It's a puzzle/platformer game with an anime art style and a decent story line that tries to make a point about the environment. Some of the dialogue goes one for too long and it's not particularly hard but it's a fun game and was well worth the sale price of €7.99.

I remember this game looking incredible when it came out. It looks utter garbage now. It's a full motion adventure game and very dated. The story is shlock and the puzzles aren't very hard. There's a puzzle near the end just designed to waste your time. It's thankfully very short so doesn't overstay its welcome. You have 2 hours to beat the game and no saving but it's easily done in that time.

The brevity is actually a blessing as I beat it before it got boring. I enjoyed it.... but it isn't good!

GAME Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
    PLATFORM PS4

I originally started the XBLA version, until I saw the PS4 version via the Requiem bundle. Much better visually, and also had scanlines as an option, which I'm a sucker for.

Sweet sacred heart of Christ this game was immense. I didn't wanna rush through it like I usually do toward the end of an RPG. I wanted to pick this game apart like a fine comb.

I might not have gotten every item (I'd say there were a few enemy drops I didn't get) but I did end up with, arguably, the best weapons in the game (crissaegrim x2). I beat the game 200.6%, and it took me 14 hours.

I regret, regret, regret, regret, regret(!!!!!) not playing this game when I first heard of it.

If it's any consolation -from the eyes of someone playing it in 2020, it bloody well holds up, both aesthetically and from a gameplay perspective.

I intend on going through Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night next. Probably won't hold a candle to this but I have heard it's almost just as good. I've only dabbled in it.

If you are even slightly interested in RPGs and appreciate 2D visuals, and you haven't played this, WTF are you doing? Get it played t'f*ck!

I'm buzzing after this :pac: What a game.

One of the best. I enjoyed every single moment of it.
